I decided that we need some cute pictures of Lexi on here, so she and I went on an adventure! Well, what really happened is we sat on the front porch and she refused to sit still and would get up and run away right as the picture was taking, and after all that hard work I decided it was way too hot outside to be foolin' around! I did get these few good shots, finally. We are so lucky to have such a good pet. She has always been a very well-rounded, well-behaved dog. She is definitely the spoiled baby around here! Who can resist that face???
Kameron was very excited to race in his first Pinewood Derby this week. He and John spent many hours designing, creating, and perfecting his "Spongebob Racer". He had a great time at the Derby and was presented a certificate and a plaque to store his racer on. He was even able to compete against his Dad (let me tell you, John has painstakingly protected his racers over the last 25+ years with the dream that someday he would have a son and be able to race against him!). The winner? Well, John, but Kam's sure was flashier!
We had a wonderful Easter Sunday. We enjoyed going to church, and reflected throughout the day of our Savior and His sacrifices for each of us. Now that the kids are older they more fully understand this, and do not get caught up in the "chicks & bunnies" (although they did get a little bit of candy in their baskets). In the afternoon, John "slaved away" in the kitchen surprising us with a fabulous Easter dinner. We all felt like we were eating at a 5-star restaurant. So yummy! He really has talent in the kitchen :-) Later on, John cleverly hid "real" Easter eggs in the yard for the kids to hunt. He makes it fun for Kameron and Kennedi, yet challenging for Kaisha and Kerianne. It takes them longer each year to find them. Kerianne did save the day when she finally found the last egg - they had searched and searched, and of course, Dad couldn't remember where that last one was! Smelly disaster avoided!
I was excited to be invited to the Super Bowl this year, by one of my Developers in town, truly a chance of a lifetime! The only thing that would make it even better was if I could experience it with a family member. Well, "ring ring" came the call from Southwest Airlines one afternoon... (I take on average 6 flights a week with my job and am one of their top customers). I was asked if I would like to go to the Super Bowl and before I could say I already had a ticket, they said they would like to give me two tickets for being such a valued customer! The face value alone was $700 each; the same were being scalped that week between 5k & 14k... Tempting, but my first thought was my brother Robert, who I had actually learned to play football with over the years of our youth and had plenty mini-Super Bowls of our own at the "big yard" across the street with our neighborhood friends. Would it be the New England Patriots, who were seeking the first undefeated season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, or the New York Giants, who was David facing Goliath. Myself, being a fan of the Boise St. Broncos (having lived there 5 years), you have to pull for the under dog!!! After all, not many expected Boise St. to pull off their performance/win they did just 13 months prior with the infamous "Statue of Liberty" play for the win in the very same stadium! The New York Giants found a way as well and pulled off "One Giant Upset" by beating the New England Patriots 17 -14 and crushed their perfect 19-0 season. It was inspiring to see Eli Manning become an MVP by leading his team to victory with some clutch plays in the end and did so just one year after his older brother did the same with the Indianapolis Colts (also MVP). As the Manning brothers celebrated together post-game it became surreal to me to think that I too was experiencing a rare opportunity with my brother, a chance of a lifetime, that neither of us will soon forget!
Kameron & I had a terrific time at the ball game the other night! We went to see the Kansas City Royals play the Los Angeles Dodgers in a Cactus League Spring Training Game in Surprise, AZ. We were able to sit in a Suite and enjoy all you can eat hamburgers, hot dogs, and build your own tacos and yes, those are chocolate drizzled churros (yummy)... You could also help yourself to drinks and watch cartoons and the game at the same time if you wanted. The beer in the picture wasn't Kameron's, it was mine! Just kidding. Kameron was lucky enough to even get a major league foul ball... He was very excited and we had a great time together!
Well, it's just as I imagined: Everyone is happy that Spring Break is over! The kids are happy to be back in their routine, and so am I. Report cards have just been sent home and all four did really well: straight A's! John and I are so proud of them. Looks like we will be having a fun night out this weekend to celebrate :-) We continue to pack a few things every day. We are excited to get the move over with and let things settle down.
