Our Photo Shoot

I did a mini photo shoot with the kids at the park last weekend.  I don't know much about photography, but I think I got some really cute pictures!  Here are my favorites:

And here are a few more from our trip:

I just thought this last one was cute.  The face is priceless!

Alexia's Bus Ride

Alexia got to ride the bus to school for the first time today!  She loved it!  She was so excited to ride the bus that she woke up before 7:00 this morning.  She ate her breakfast as fast as she could then was running to get ready because she didn't want to miss it.  I had to keep slowing her down and reminding her that she still had 40 minutes before the bus came!

I told her to smile for me so I could take a picture of her waiting for the bus.  She posed instead.  I think it is so adorable!!

And here she is actually giving me a smile.  Kind of.  As you can see, she was very excited!!

Alexia's First Day of Pre-K

Alexia had her first day of preschool this Wednesday!  She was sooo excited to go!  We went in to meet her teacher last week for orientation and I think she is going to be awesome.  Alexia was very sad that she couldn't stay the whole day!  The teacher even said I had such quiet and well behaved kids!  Granted, she had just finished orientation with a set of twin boys (who she said were a little crazy)!  I am excited for the year, and so is Alexia!

Alexia has one of her old friends from last year in her class, which is really nice!  She also has two friends who are in the other class, so they get to play together at recess and such.  The boy in this picture is one of her friends from the other class.  They were excited to see each other!

Alexia's Cape

And here is Alexia's cape.  She had a little more say in what hers would be.  With Ryan, I knew he wanted Batman, so I did that and just decided to do Superman for the other side.  Alexia, however, got to pick out her fabric colors and the symbols.

The "dark pink" side (as she usually calls maroon) is Princess Girl:

She really debated between bat girl and super girl, so in the end I just ended up doing Batgirl, since I figured it would look a little more realistic to have a pink "S" than a pink bat!!  So the other side of the cape is Supergirl (in pink instead of red).  And she wanted it on the blue side.  Works for me!  Why not?

Ryan's Cape

A while ago I was given an old sewing machine.  Though it may not be what I would pick out for myself at a store, I am very grateful to have one!!  I finally got it working (with the help of a little hot glue- the place that is supposed to hold the thread had been broken off).  So, my first project was to make capes for the kids.  Here is Ryan's.

One side is Batman (Ryan usually says "bat boy"):
And the other side is Superman:
They were a lot of fun to make.  I am thinking about putting snaps on the front instead of tying it, but the kids usually tie it so that they can slip it on and off their heads themselves, so we will see.

Children's Craft Time

I have been trying to do more crafts with the kids lately.  It has been a lot of fun.  We have made a lot of random stuff.  A few days ago, we made musical instruments.
Ryan, as is typical for a boy his age, spent a minute or two coloring his picture, but that was about it.  Alexia was so careful with hers.  She even colored the wind.
The kids had a lot of fun making them.  And of course, after we finished them, we had to sing a bunch of songs.  The first one Alexia picked to sing was the "sunbeam" song ("Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam").

P.S.  Yes, I wrapped them with duct tape, because I am from Idaho and that is the kind of tape we use :-).  Really it was the only tape we had aside from the normal scotch tape.

The Sprinkler Game

The kids have been in love with the sprinkler lately.  The sprinkler is usually in the garden, but it has a wide enough spread that it will hit the swing set if it is on full.  The kids will turn it on and play on the swings and slide.  They love it!  And I have to admit, it is nice for me too!  I can clean and vacuum the front room, kitchen, etc. while they are playing outside and I can still see them!  The only problem is when they come in sopping wet!! :-)

Randomness

I love watching kids learn and grow.  Most of all, I love watching them play.  Their interactions are very intriguing to me.  Each child is so unique.  This is just one of those "random moments" pictures I was able to catch when we were at the park the other day.  I love it.
