Jay's "Funny Bed"

Well, I guess it is official. My little boy if growing up . . . *sniff*. A few weeks ago we bought this bed for Jay and outfitted it with the sheet set his grandma bought for him (thanks Mom!). He calls it his "funny bed" and refused to sleep in it. Being the softies that we are (and slightly lazy) we decided that just having it in his room for a while would give him a chance to get used to it and he would eventually make the decision to sleep in it instead of his modified crib. No luck. So we removed the converted crib from his room and told him this was his bed now. It only took one night and he was fine. I think the hangup was really me not wanting to acknowledge that he was getting bigger and was ready. Now he says that he likes his "funny bed." YAY! Thought we'd share a few pictures of Jay in his new bed.

Even though he's in this bed now, he insists on having his "mi-mi's" (blankets). There are 4 of them that he refuses to sleep without. He even has names for them all. There's "Jay's Blanket" - the raggedy Ann & Andy one, "Tractor Blankey" - kinda explanatory there, "Friend's Blanket" - one I keep meaning to mail back to my sister because it is her's, and "Sister's Blanket" - one that we used for Mackenzie but he claims and uses like a prize or trophy. I think it's adorable because he asks for "cuts" (Jay talk for having his blankets laid out over him and covering him) every night.

Hear Bugs!

So apparently my son is not only scared of touching or seeing bugs, but also hearing them. He was in the kitchen tonight snitching some grapes I had left on the counter. Suddenly I hear him screaming, see grapes fly into the dining room, and he flies out of the kitchen crying hysterically. Once I finally got him calmed down enough to understand him, I figured out that he had heard a bug out the kitchen window. All I can say is he is obviously raised by his mother.

My First Blog

Hello all! I thought that maybe with being so far from family and friends, it might be fun to share my children's growth and experiences. So, here goes, wish me luck!
