Yay for bed sheet slings!

Ok, so I have these huuuge ass rocks that I want to take from point A and stick in point B. But I have a few obstacles: 1: They're freakin heavy 2: I'm a girl 3: I have pride issues and don't like help. So whats a girl with too much pride to do when it comes to heavy rocks? well my friend, you have to improvise.

And improvise I did. Using my keen physics skills and a old twin sized mattress sheet, I fashioned a technique that allows a midget such as myself to move rocks that weigh waaaay more than I do...

Ok, Ok so it wasn't a revelation of modern science...I basically wrapped the rock in a bed sheet like a sling and then pulled it out of the hole they were in (point A) and dragged them to point B.

Still pretty smart though eh? At least I felt empowered...

Alrite, I'm gonna do something productive...

Green Thumb

OK, in reality...instead of saying 'I have a green thumb' (which is of course referring to ones love for gardening) a more suitable thing to say would be 'I have mud caked onto my hands and face and twigs in my hair'.

Well, at least thats what I look like after a few hours of gardening...not a pretty sight, to be perfectly honest with you! I usually like doing things around the yard...but for some reason I'm like the freakin engergizer bunny when it comes to tending to the yard this year. I sacked 20 bags of leaves on thursday when I want to tidy up the yard at my cottage and today at my parents I bagged 5 bags and I planted my herb garden...(which I'm very excited for cause I also planted my favorite flower - daisies along with my herbs) I can't wait till they grow!

And it appears the my brother has given up on working the garden cause its too wet...so quick to give up, I tell ya! I'll probably hike up my sleeves and get in there after class tomorrow...I love nothing more than fresh peas in the summer! yay!

Ok, obviously I'm still too hyper...I'm going to go play a video game.

H. out!

Ugh...

Well, I've returned from nationals and am not feeling too talkative because I'm still rough from yesterday so I'll give a brief synopsis:

1. It is possible to fit 7 girls, one coach and about 20 pieces of luggage in a mini van...its not comfortable but it worked.

2. we came in 4th..booo! We were always pretty close at the half...but always seemed to shit the bed in the 2nd half in our 'must win' game situations...which is too bad, although we did beat Sask and the Calgary team

3. I got to go to Ikea, which made me feel better after loosing to Alberta

4. Alberta refs always reffed our Alberta games...Quebec reffed our Quebec games...does that make any sense? nopers, and we suffered because of that

5. I love the LCs in Alberta...they have a cooler booze selection than our shitty MLCCs...damn communist Manitoba with your controlling ways...

6. We won the social! I had the best time! Annette (I had her as my secret friend) bought be drinks all nite because I was a good secret friend and spoiled her...and I didn't leave the dance floor all nite....although, I was left pretty exhausted...(see my rant on grinding) I dunno what was going on...but I've never been so molested by so many people in my whole life...

7. oh, and my favorite comment of the nite..."you'll wake up and regret it in the morning"...and he was referring to the fact that I refused his sorry ass and kicked him to the curb...OH YEAH...man, did I sure regret it when I woke up in my OWN bed in the morning because I actually have common sense when I drink, riiight! crazy moron, what do you take me for? Geez!

8. Our hotel had two parts to it..the nice new luxury rooms and the old 'compton' area...yeah, and us lucky ladies were put up in the hotel's equivalent to the ghetto. Our power cut out multiple times and we didn't have a fridge or a window that opened...and some of the boys from Quebec who also lived in Compton didn't have phones...it made the trip interesting

9. My dream of riding down the big hill by the hotel on a mattress was cut short with the realization that I didn't know where those mattresses (which were already on the hill) had been

10. The plane ride home was actually better than the plane ride there...we had TVs on the way home and leather seats! it rocked! and there was no turbulance, which was a great relief to Mich who almost tossed her cookies on the plane ride there.

Alrite, back to sleeping...H out

Nationals In 5 Sleeps!

Thaaats right boys and girls! 5 more sleeps till I get to go to Calgary! I have a hot dress, a new suitcase named Pinky (its pink), and hopefully some new mad handball skills that I actually use provided I don't crap out.

Our team is lookin pretty good actually...its a very strong defensive team...and I'm sure most of us are holding back because we don't actually want to harm our team mates. Our offence, well....we'll see what happens at nationals...all I know is that I get to play my position...Right Back...giddy up!

We had a hot tub/team bonding party on friday nite...a nice wine and cheese with some marshmellow shooters (and I made fancy sandwiches). It definetly helped build team cohesiveness, so I just know we're going to be a scene and a half.

Alrite, stay tuned for a post nationals update!

They Say Its Your Birthday! nanananananaaaa!

Well, it looks like I'm yet another year older...or shall I say, I have another year of interesting life experiences under my belt. Its funny cause a lot of people use New Years as the time when they look back and reflect on what they have done or did not do in the past year. I use my birthday as a day of reflection and is usually when I analyze and assign new goals for myself.

My 23rd year was full of subtle accomplishments, kinda like the chapter before the a books conclusion. I was able to tie up loose ends or set them up so that they can be finished this year and I can move on to my next phase in life when I'm 25.

And yeah, I dunno what I want for my birthday...I just want people to remember and celebrate with me, nothing else really matters. (and I usually go out and get whatever I want vs sitting back and waiting for it anyways)...but if you really, REALLY know me, then you know whats perfect for me :)

Anyways, back to birthday studying....happy birthday to me!
