Potty Day!

Today we're potty training! I really wasn't planning on potty training Duncan so soon, but he had started telling me when he had pooped and then twice he told me he needed to go, so we ran and he pooped in the toilet. After researching it all month I decided that maybe he was ready so we got some new undies and decided today would be the day. It's going pretty well so far. This morning he peed in the toilet twice and didn't have his first accident until noon. Then he peed again in the toilet and then had another accident...... it's amazing how much he was holding in there. I just laid him down for a nap at about 1 and we'll see how he does this afternoon, but I'm hopeful! I'm also really exhausted.... but it's fun to watch Duncan be so excited about this.

It's exciting!

...And exhausting...

I was trying to keep him entertained in the kitchen "just in case," and it's a good thing, because soon after this picture he had his first accident of the day.  At least it wasn't on the carpet...yet...

Zoo Trip

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this picture, but it's a cute one of Duncan and I, and I don't get in on a lot of pictures with him (usually I'm the one taking the pictures...).  Anyway, I thought this one deserved documenting.

This time at the zoo, Duncan really got into seeing the animals!  He wanted to get out of his stroller at every animal exhibit, and he would sneak in the front of all the other kids to see them and point at them.  It was pretty adorable.  He especially wanted to see the elephants this time and kept making elephant sounds on our way to the zoo.

We rode the carousel for the first time, and I'm really glad we did.  He was so excited to see it and get on it, but when it started moving he was a little freaked out....I had to tell him that it was fun (lol) and started cheering, and eventually he chimed in with a weak little cheer too while we were going around.

Anderson Reunion

Next we went up to the Teton Mountains for the Anderson Reunion.  We saw a lot of my mom's family there and had a great time.  There are a TON of people that come every year, and we weren't able to go last year because Duncan was still so small.  He had a blast up in the mountains and loved being able to play in the dirt.  We stayed in my Grandparents' cabin in Driggs, so we didn't even have to worry about how Duncan would do in a tent.  It worked out pretty great for us this year.

There are always a lot of activities for the kids, and when we got there Duncan got to go on a hobo hike and make a boat to race in the creek.

Here we are getting ready for the hobo hike--I'm helping him get his hobo sack ready!

And a (fuzzy) family picture:

On the hobo hike:

They had all the kids pose for a picture after the hike.  Duncan is in the front in the middle.  As you can see, he doesn't really get the concept of posing for pictures yet...

Haha I just thought this next one was hilarious.  He's such a cute little guy.  He got the backpack on the hobo hike with some cute toys and a snack.

We had some pretty amazing fashion choices while we were there.....

And here we are getting ready for the boat races!  Duncan's 2nd cousin, Zach, is sleeping, but Duncan loved the boat Scott "helped" him make.

Getting ready to throw the boat in!  You can't really see Duncan and Scott too well, but oh well.

Unfortunately, Duncan's boat rolled over and he didn't win.

But he still got a prize and a medal!!!  He is such a cheese!!!

After Duncan raced his boat, he and Scott cheered on the other kids.  Duncan got really into it.

We can't wait for next year!!

Duncan Learns to Cry

Duncan learned how to smile, and lately he's been fake crying.  This isn't his best attempt, but it's still pretty cute   :)

Back to the rest of our summer trips tomorrow!!

Yellowstone

After Powell we drove through Yellowstone to the Tetons for a family reunion.  We saw a lot in Yellowstone, and it was a really beautiful drive.

Almost as soon as we got into the park, we saw these cute guys:

Duncan sported his cowboy hat all weekend!

Yellowstone Beach

Waiting for Old Faithful!!

And...because we didn't get any good pictures while Old Faithful was going, here's a pretty good video!  As you can tell, Duncan was ready for a nap by this time.

I can't remember the name of this stop, but this cute little waterfall was tucked back into the mountain and was even prettier in real life.

The Tetons

After we got out of Yellowstone, we ran across a few ENORMOUS herds of wild buffalo!  They were crossing the road like it was no big deal.  People were actually getting out of their cars to take pictures and video, and I almost expected someone to get mauled by one of them.  I guess this is the only picture I got, but I got a pretty cool video I'll put underneath.

Trip to Powell

This past summer we traveled a bit, so the next few posts will be a string of our summer vacation.

Our first stop was in Powell, WY, to visit Scott's grandparents.  They have a cute outdoor wading pool in town that we took Duncan to.  He loved running after all the other kids, and he did not like to hold on to my hand.  Every time he shook me off, he would fall face first into the pool and then get up and laugh so hard!  He loves water so much, and he especially loved the little froggy slide at this pool.

Scott, Duncan, and Great Grandpa planted a shrub one morning:

And Great Grandma won Duncan over too.  She made his favorite food--Popcorn!!

I don't know how I ended up without a picture of Duncan with his Great Grandma!!  But we had a great time there, and it made me miss all our family that are far away from us!

Random

Just a few random pictures I forgot were on my camera!  These are from the last six months or so.

Duncan loves his celery!

And some days he doesn't really want to eat anything...

Lounging at home on the frog chair.

Sesame Street must have been extra exciting this day...

And another trip to the Zoo!!!
