Do They Look Alike?

Birthday Cake for E2

E3: Were going to Costco? Can we get Ezra's birthday cake?
E2: YEAH! NO! can we get ice cream instead?
M, Not sure we can get it home before it melts
E2, can we get something from "the Freaky Lunchbox" instead?

E3, wait, so you don't want cake? You should get cake. We could get a big cake and we could live off of it for days.

Children Vrs Zombies

Boys sketching and planing out a game they are making up. I am hearing bits and pieces of conversation from across the room while nursing baby. portals....death tiles.... radishes...this guy can't move until... where do you put a hammer?......I hear something about characters draining peoples energy slowly. I say oh so they're children?
*Small slow laugh growing stronger as realization dawns**
Enoch says: Good one mom. Very funny.
Ezra says: There's one difference mom. These Zombies suck your energy out slowly. Children do it FAST!

She's growing up

She's growing up.  Lately she has lost three teeth. It makes it hard for her to talk at all and when she does talk she spits all over you. But she sure is sweet. Tonight she brought me the iPad and said "mom, I have to tell you something.  I was thinking maybe I should just keep this ipad in my room and let it charge. But then I was thinking if I do that I might be tempted to watch it in the morning. So I brought it to you so I won't be tempted." What a sweet and honest little lady. Sure love her.

Internet Guy or Serial Killer? You Decide.

So, I've long known that I'm the type of person that's just"too nice"(in certain situations). The one who can't say no. The one who ALMOST let someone with a cat rent my house because I felt badly that they needed a place. I have a hard time telling people no even when I know that I should. So, today a man came to my door and told me he was from the internet company and needed access to our back yard to get to the box to hook up someones internet. he wanted me to let him in. I looked at him like he was crazy. This is just the sort of thing you see on the news(not that I watch it) right before they tell you that the woman was now dead because she was stupid and let a stranger in her home. I told him we didn't have a backyard only a little balcony and he would have to talk to the people next door to get back there. He said they weren't home and could I go on my balcony and he would meet me back there in the street next door and show me. I locked my door and went to check out my balcony. He was on the other side of the fence down on the street and showed me what he needed to get to and asked me if I would let him pass through my house to get there. The guy he was hooking up internet for was back there on his balcony too but he was some sort of worker. He had a ladder and dirty clothes and you could see inside the building that he was doing some construction. He was kinda creepy and the way he looked at me made me think he's the sort to peek in your windows at night. ICK. So glad they only have see thru curtains around here in the main part of the house.

The whole thing felt legit so I told him yes, but  knew that was not the right answer. Then he asks if I will be home for the next TWO hours because that's how long he will need to be in and out of my house. Oh no. Shoot. I could hear my mother's voice inside my head saying. It's probably fine but is it really worth it? What if her Isn't what he says? Is it worth the chance? The answer was NO, of course not. I have 4 kids in here with me. So WHY did I say yes? Because I knew it would make his day easier and I couldn't say no. Now he was expecting to be in and out of my house for two hours. Not just a quick in and out. I got a hold of G immediately and told him what I had done. He said "NO WAY!" and gave me the numbers for both the landlord and the rental company so I could have him get in touch with them. He said to leave the numbers and a note on the door and not answer when the guy came to the front door. :) Sounds so dramatic doesn't it? That wasn't an option anyway since he was already at my door before I got the numbers. I brought him a paper with phone numbers for him to call and told him I didn't have the authority to be letting him into the back and he would need to call the landlord or rental company. He asked if he could call right there and got out his cell phone. He was hoping they would approve it and I would let him use my house. The landlady answered and the whole conversation was in French. I didn't understand anything. I thought oh great. He could just tell me that she said yes. I don't want him in here even if she says yes. He was very polite though and said she said it was OK but that she would be here in 30 minutes and if I didn't want him in my house he would just wait for her to come. I said I had sleeping children and it would be better if he just waited. So he just sat out front until she got here. Gees. Next time I won't be so stupid. It will be a big fat NO from the start. I'm sure glad I didn't have to find out if I was the really stupid girl in the movie that makes you want to scream at the screen NOOOO! Don't let him in. He's really Jack the Ripper.

Peanut, Peanut Butter, and Nutella

This is how you make a PB and nutella sandwich in the car while it's moving(in case there is someone else out there who needs this kind of info.)
We don't eat a lot of PB at our house because we only have one kid who likes PB sandwiches and even he doesn't like them very much. Since we didn't have a fridge in our hotel the two nights we were in Quebec City we needed to bring food that would fill their bellies sometimes without having to be refrigerated. This fit the bill perfectly and because it was nutella instead of honey they kids were wild about it and ate it NO PROBLEM. They all thanked me for buying nutella instead of honey because they said it made the PB sandwiches taste AWESOME!!! Big win for the mama.

Montreal Day 10 Bagels and more Bagels

Montreal is known for it's bagels and we live within a mile of two of it's best bagel shops, so naturally we went for a walk to try and compare.
When you walk inside there is barely enough room for one guest infront of the other and therwas a continual line while we were there. I couldn't get all the kids in and no way could I get the stroller in so I left the boys there with B and took E3 in with me. She and I ordered different kinds and brought them out for everyone to sample. Then I sent the boys in to take a peak so they could see what it looked like.
Fairmount bagels was the closest so we stopped there first. The bagels here are different from the New York style bagel and they claim they are better but I will let you all decide when you come and visit us. These bagels were very good.crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Just the way a bagel should be. They make them in wood fired ovens and if you try really hard you can take a peak before they quickly kick you out to serve the next customer in line.
This is the second bagel shop St. Viateur. It was much more accessible but still tricky for the stroller.

When we went in they were cooking sesame bagels in the wood fired oven on long bread boards. They were fresh and hot so we bought those. E2 and E3 weren't particularly excited about the wood-fired taste. They didn't think they were that great but E1 and I thought they were great.
Don't they look yummy. Happy faces, Happy family.
We sat down to eat our bagels and The kids were peaking in the window here of this Chocolate shop. They wanted to go in and get something and I said yes. It was CRAZY expensive though. I got them each a mini gelato cone(very tiny but just right to have a taste.)  and Garrett some chocolate covered Almonds dusted with cocoa powder. The total was $18+ CAD
They enjoyed it very much though and they even had one that was dairy free for E2.
I was so proud of E3. She managed to scooter all the way there and all the way home. She is just learning how to ride a scooter since her's has been broken for a long time, but she is doing great. It was a mile+ there and the same back so she was able to scooter for over 2miles and held her own very nicely. We did have to have the boys wait on us a lot but part of that was due to the massive blisters forming on my feet by the 1 mile point. I could barely walk by the time we got home.
