Montreal is known for it's bagels and we live within a mile of two of it's best bagel shops, so naturally we went for a walk to try and compare.
When you walk inside there is barely enough room for one guest infront of the other and therwas a continual line while we were there. I couldn't get all the kids in and no way could I get the stroller in so I left the boys there with B and took E3 in with me. She and I ordered different kinds and brought them out for everyone to sample. Then I sent the boys in to take a peak so they could see what it looked like.
Fairmount bagels was the closest so we stopped there first. The bagels here are different from the New York style bagel and they claim they are better but I will let you all decide when you come and visit us. These bagels were very good.crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Just the way a bagel should be. They make them in wood fired ovens and if you try really hard you can take a peak before they quickly kick you out to serve the next customer in line.
This is the second bagel shop St. Viateur. It was much more accessible but still tricky for the stroller.

When we went in they were cooking sesame bagels in the wood fired oven on long bread boards. They were fresh and hot so we bought those. E2 and E3 weren't particularly excited about the wood-fired taste. They didn't think they were that great but E1 and I thought they were great.
Don't they look yummy. Happy faces, Happy family.
We sat down to eat our bagels and The kids were peaking in the window here of this Chocolate shop. They wanted to go in and get something and I said yes. It was CRAZY expensive though. I got them each a mini gelato cone(very tiny but just right to have a taste.) and Garrett some chocolate covered Almonds dusted with cocoa powder. The total was $18+ CAD
They enjoyed it very much though and they even had one that was dairy free for E2.
I was so proud of E3. She managed to scooter all the way there and all the way home. She is just learning how to ride a scooter since her's has been broken for a long time, but she is doing great. It was a mile+ there and the same back so she was able to scooter for over 2miles and held her own very nicely. We did have to have the boys wait on us a lot but part of that was due to the massive blisters forming on my feet by the 1 mile point. I could barely walk by the time we got home.
