Daredevil Avery

See the little chair that Avery is no nicely seated on...this is not always the case. She stood up on it last night and fell forward and hit her face on the end table...that is the bruise you see in the cute picture. After she quit screaming, I set her down and she proceeded to go back over to the chair that was on the floor, pick it up, and climb back on. I tell you...she is a tad bit too much like her daddy....dare devilish!

Grampa's Horses

The girls and I went with Grampa to feed his horses tonight. He has 4. They are Pacos, Keno, Nip, and RAZ( named for Rylee, Avery and Zoey) The girls loved being around them. Zoey fed them some watermelon rind and apples, Rylee is standing in front of RAZ and Avery is just checking them out. We also got to see two trains pass through town while we were at the corals. The girls enjoyed that too. I think he is going to try and see if they want to ride..so probably more pictures to come.

Fun in the water!

Gramma got the girls a pool and they are really enjoying it. The weather is great. I really thought that I was going to melt, but I am enjoying the heat. I think the sun soothes the soul! I just have to make sure we don't get sunburned. I am the sunscreen Nazi. The bottom pic is from Grampa daring Zoey to stick her finger in the sprinkler and this is how it ended up. It was 8:00 PM and still in the 90's. SIMPLY FANTASTIC!

Gramma and Grampa's House

Getting read to, stealing hugs, eating whatever you want...there is not much better than being at Gramma and Grampa's house.

We made it!

Zoey crashed on the last flight.
Rylee enjoying the play place in the SEA-TAC

We are here safe and sound. It was a LONG, I mean VERY LONG trip, but we are here and enjoying the warm (HOT) weather and gramma and grampa. The traveling went better than I expected. Only and few screams...and none of them were from me!!!

Wish me luck!

I am headed out tonight with my three girls to see my side of the family for a few weeks. We are excited to see them, but not so excited for the traveling. Please keep me in your prayers that we can arrive safely and I am not bald from pulling my hair out. Keep checking in, I will blog my trip highlights.

Family Fun in the Midnight Sun??

We too went to family fun in the midnight sun...it was not so sunny. They had it inside the hockey rink due to the rain. The kids played some games and got too much candy. Last year, Rylee won a really nice bike. We weren't so lucky this year.

Avery loves watermelon

Growing up in the hot state of NV...summer means cold watermelon. I have passed my love for watermelon to Avery. She really enjoys it.

My first bear sighting!

My husband called last night and asked if I wanted to go fishing on the river for kings. We don't have many days left to do this since I will be gone for awhile and his friend's boat can only be on the river in June do to motor regulations. We didn't have much success fishing. I had one on that had to be 50 plus pounds (since Ryan's biggest was only 50 pounds) but it got off right before we could get it in the boat. On the way home, Ryan said that we should take the Escape Route to see if we could see any bears. He was trying to make me feel better since he saw a momma brown bear and three tiny cubs on Saturday. About a minute after he said that, we rounded the corner and saw this bear, right before we made it into town. Ryan said quick get the camera, but the bear was in no hurry. I was a little nervous to roll down the window. The bear was a little too close for comfort. I was happy though. My first AK bear sighting and I didn't even have to go traipsing through the woods.

It's King Salmon Season!

The "guys" went fishing on Wed...mark this day on the calendar... for once Ryan didn't catch the biggest fish. Jacob caught his first King Salmon. It was 43 pounds. As you can tell he was pretty excited. It is officially fishing season here in the Last Frontier!

Albino Moose times two

So, I was driving home from town and I came upon these...once I got to my computer and checked my email :) My brother sent this forward to me and I thought it was pretty cool...cool enough to share. It is rare to see one albino moose ( although Ryan has seen one) but two together is just crazy! They were photographed in Michigan.

Rylee and her glasses

So, I took Shebly and her mom to the eye glasses place in town to get Shelby's eyes measured so they could order her more glasses because hers are MIA. Rylee was trying on pairs right along side Shelby. When we went to leave, Rylee was very sad that she did not get to get glasses. So the sweet lady that works there, gave her a pair of discontinued frames that they can no longer sell. They have just clear plastic lenses with no prescription. She is so excited. She wears them all the time. I told Ryan she better get used to wearing glasses because we both have such horrible vision she is doomed! I think she looks really cute in them!

My first Girl's Camp Experience

I was able to go to Girl's Camp (a camp for the young women at our church) last night. I was asked to speak at the fireside/devotional. I enjoyed being out there. We hung out and I really had fun getting to know the girls and see their personalities come out. We sat around the camp fire and made smores, roasted starburst (an AK camp tradition) and drank hot chocolate. It was a nice night minus the rain and chilly weather. Here are some pictures of my laurels ( 16-18 yr olds that I teach on Sun) I missed some of them....Eliza, Miranda, and Amber...they have something called summer jobs!

Welcome back to your second home!

We have some great friends who are here for the summer from Utah. Todd comes to work at the shop with Ryan and the guys and to do the fun summer Alaska things. They drove their RV up the Al-Can (OUCH with the price of gas, they averaged 9 miles per gallon) They are parked in our yard for the summer. We are excited to have them here. My girls LOVE Shelby, their almost 10 year old. She takes great care of them and entertains them well. It is nice. It gives me a glimpse into my future...one day my girls will be older and able to help out as much as she does. How nice is that going to be! I am glad to have Robbie around to do things with and keep me company. Jacob their son is looking for a job if you know of anything. All we have to say is Welcome back to AK! We are glad you are here!
