777 The day everyone in the world got married. Pauly and I have now decided that attending weddings (and balls) has become our sport! We aren't wedding crashers by any means, we thoroughly enjoy ourselves, while not driving other people crazy and sharing in a very special day. It means getting all dolled up in matching attire (note Pauly's special wedding/ball attending shoes) with hair and accessories... I even made my own beaded necklace to match my dress :P
This particular wedding was Pauly's cousin Kimberly to Jimmy (Dimitrios). It was a traditional Greek Orthodox service and a traditional Greek reception with dancing and food till 2am! It has taken two days to recover fully, but all well worth it!!
Tonight marked the last edits to my very first demo... *insert quivering lips here* If you have ever listened to yourself talking on a home movie or recording of any kind, that alone is usually a shocking experience. Add all the pressures of beginning a career on the other side of the planet with this being the first thing potential employers are going to hear as well as a critical, perfectionist attitude from the diva and you get a walking basket case!
This is my audio dude Joe doing "something technical" with numbers and exporting files from several programs in his studio. Joe and his lackey Jay recorded my accompanist Jonathan and I in the new McGill Opera studio at the end of June. I can't actually complain about the final product, except that it has revealed to me EVERYTHING I now need to develop in my vocal technique. Actually these are my glow-in-the-dark feet... Jess and I went to support Jeff at a baseball game in Dorval. While we were outside we desperately tried to get sun onto every part of ourselves, since it has been so damp! After lounging around all day in the sun we made a trip to our favorite craft supply store to get some paper and beads for random projects.
After playing creatively we met up with Steve who was in town from Toronto to come see the international fireworks. We decided to eat at a cute little Italian restaurant before heading downtown for the pre-firework Ben and Jerry's.
Throughout dinner Steve and Jess tried to think of creative ways of stealing one of the giant bowls of pasta bowls which decorated the restaurant. Apparently they have been trying to capture one of the giant chickens from Chez Cora as well. I'm guessing that if they will ever succeed at getting one then maybe they can succeed at capturing the other...
It has been a tradition to go to the Old Port to see the firework competition at least once per summer. Last year was particularly spectacular since it was a competition of the top ten winners in the last 30 year. I must admit that this evening's fireworks presented by France left a lot to be desired! They were low to the ground and hard to see. Not even the finale was impressive, which usually leaves the crowd ooing and awing. I think the competition is over for this year, but there's always next year!
