Life Soundtrack

I saw this on Melanie's Blog and wasn't going to post it, but changed my mind.  It really isn't a representative sample of my music, but oh well.  Some of the songs are pretty perfect while others are way off, such as the birth of a child one (although it would work of that is what the kid is saying to me).

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the "next" button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool!

Opening credits: “Ari’s Eyes” Victor Wooten

Waking Up: “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf” The Three Little Pigs

First Day At School: “God help the Outcasts” From the Hunchback of Notre Dame

Falling In Love: “Drop It on Me” Ricky Martin

Fight Song: “Endless, Helpless, Hoping” Josh Gracin

Breaking Up: “…Baby one more time”  Britney Spears

Prom: “I Still…” Backstreet Boys

Life’s OK: “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from Phantom of the Opera

Mental Breakdown: “Don’t Tell Me You’re Not in Love” George Strait

Driving: “I Promise You (With All I Am)” Backstreet Boys

Flashback: “Angel of Music” from Phantom of the Opera

Getting Back Together: “Home Improvement” George Strait

Wedding: “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera

Sleepover with Bailee & Zac

I promised my niece Bailee that I would have a sleepover with her when I came from school for winter break, but I am house sitting and they have a dog so I have to stay at the house.  I asked Ginger if they wanted to come spend the night with me and they excitedly said "Yes!!!"  As soon as I walked in the door they were ready to go!  The kids hurridly ate and we were off.  Of course we couldn't get here soon enough and the kids were so anxious to see the dog, Tana.  First we watched the Bee Movie while eating popcorn and drinking hot chocolate on the big screen.  Then we got ready for bed and watched a little TV in bed so the kids would fall asleep.  This morning the little rug rats woke up at 6:30am. Bailee had a chocolate doughnut and Zac had yogurt.  We watched a little TV to pass the time before we could paint faces and go tto the park.  Here are some pics of the face painting:

We are only in the middle of the visit, but the kids are impatient to eat and go outside so, again, I will post the rest later.

Another joy of roomates

I will post pictures soon, but for now you just get the story.  Kate and I hadn't been in Flagstaff since the snow, but we went up on Friday because my old roomate Heather was going to be in town from New Hampshire.

Um...my niece & nephew are being impatient to post about them so I will finish this later.

To continue...so i got home first, parked in the flatteset part of the driveway (the rest was covered in a glacier) and went inside.  My other roomate Karin came home and just parked randomly and then Kate came home and almost couldn't park because she was sliding and almost hit Karin's car.  I came out at that time and we pulled out a shovel that had been given to me.  Apparently they hadn't shoveled the driveway once; just drive over the snow to make it compact.  Aren't they so smart?  We tried to get Karin's car into the garage but she couldn't move it any farther forward until we chipped away the ice under her tires.  She left after that without helping at all, and really even caring.  Kate and I called a friend from school to come help us and we spend the next 2.5 hours "deglaciering the driveway" as Kate put it.  Kate and I both got blisters and were not very happy.  Anyway, the driveway was clear and we could all finally fit.  Hopefully it stays that way with the additionaly snowfall.  I will post pictures later because I remembered to have Kate take pictures so I could actually be in them so the fam could see me working:)

More Gross Pictures

The past week I have noticed that the shower has not been draining very well and I remembered when I got back from summer break the same things was happening so I figured I would do what I did before.  Oddly enough I was still surprised at what I found, and I have pictures so you can all enjoy it with Kate and I.  Keep in mind that there are three girls using the same bathroom, but only one of us lets bobby pins and razor covers go down the drain (and it is not me or Kate).  I actually had to use pliers and pull chucnks of hair covered in what I am telling myself was conditioner, but this was right after I poured the water from ionizing myself down the drain so who knows what it really was.  There was actually quite a bit more that I had already pulled out and thrown away before Kate came in with the camara.  Enjoy!

Ionization

A while ago I went with my mo to have an ionization treatment and some reflexology.  I didn't quite know what to think, and I still don't, but it was interesting.  It basically pulls unwanted stuff out of you.  There is even a color code.  Orange is from joints, brown is cellular debris, foam is from lymphatic system...and the list continues.  My family really seems to like it and I am still curious so I decided to buy a unit for myself to use on my family and whomever else was brave enough to try it.  I just got it in yesterday and I used it on myself to figure out how it worked.  Here are the pictures:
At 3 minutes

At 5 minutes

At 10 minutes

At 15 minutes

At the end (20 minutes)

So gross!!!!!
(And yes I am bringing it for Christmas)

Lessons Learned from Thanksgiving Family Pictures

So Thanksgiving at the Goodman's was wonderful as always and filled with the smell of homemade mexican food.  As is tradition we took family pictures and as is tradition we had a hard time getting one good one.  After some photoshop work by my sister in law, Brandis, we have this picture:
We also had a picture taken of just us kids and one with our parents and the kids:

I noticed someting right off the bat in these pictures that several other people, except apparently the people taking the pictures (whom I love and adore), noticed.  I didn't get the memo that we were wearing dark jeans and therefore I stick out anyway, and then there is that huge butt!  I know I have one (and as I have said before I like my butt), but it looks gigantic in this picture, especially since I am the only one in light jeans!  I have never been a light packer; I even had a backup top half of my outfit in my car when I went down for a day, but I learned a few lessons from these pictures:
-Always have at least two outfits for everything with you wherever you go because you never know when your butt is going to look extra large due to the color of your jeans.
-Make sure you are turned the same as everyone else so you are being seen from the same angle and then comparisons are ok.
-Talk to Brandis before she sends pictures out so she can photoshop more than just the little kids:)
-Remember to be like Gena and find a way to add a few inches to my height for pictures:D

Snowing again

So it has only been 6 months since snow last fell in Flagstaff and it has already returned.  This is supposed to be ARIZONA.  It is supposed to be HOT in this state.  Apparently someone forgot to tell the weather that.  The high dropped from the 60's to the 40's in two days last week and now we have snow.  It wasn't really too bad because it melted by the time I got home from school for the most part, but I really am a warm blooded person.  Cold doesn't really agree with my body, especially my toes which tend to turn blue and purple when they get too cold.  I am prepared this year though and am making sure to stay warm.  Here are some pictures from last night and this morning.  The snow sure makes things peaceful.

P.S. That isn't the house I live in. That is the one across the street - it was too cold to go too far outside.

Computerized scrapbook

I have never been a big fan of scrapbooking. Partially because I have to clean up the mess I make eventually, partially because I am not that creative and partially because I just don't have the patience. I saw Brandis doing a scrapbook on her computer this summer and thought that might be fun but I looked online and all the programs were too expensive for me. Then I talked a friend of mine this weekend and she mentioned it so I thought I would look into it again. I found a program called SmileBooks and I love it!! I have some weird shaped pics because I cropped them and didn't save the original pics and it just lets me put them right on the page, unlike other programs I looked at, and then I send it to the company when I am done and then print, bind and mail it back to me. It doesn't have quite the variation as other programs, but it is really fun and I already have 23ish pages after 2 days! Most of them I did the first day. Anyway, I am dying to do more, but all the pics I had on my computer from last year got deleted when I got my new computer. :( I downloaded some pics that were sent to me or that I sent to all of you, but if you have any other pics that involve me (like Thanksgiving and Christmas last year and our March b-day party this year or the earcandles) please send them to me! I am still open to program suggestions too if you know of a better one. I looked into ShutterFly and a few others, but they don't do well with oddly shaped pics as far as I could figure out.

Surprise Party

About a month ago one of the girls in my class, Danine, talked to me about making her boyfriend Jake's birthday cake. (He happens to be in our class too.) He told me that he loves chocolate and peanut butter. I was ecstatic because those happen to be my favorite things as well. Oddly enough I had just received some recipes and a Blackout Cake was included in those recipes. I decided that it would be perfect but that I would substitute the chocolate filling for some sort of peanut butter filling. I will post the recipe I used below but basically I decided on a 4 layer chocolate cake with a peanut butter/cream cheese filling and Nutter Butters. So Danine decided that she wanted to have a surprise party for Jake on his birthday. A few times we were sure that he had found out, but luckily he is deaf in one ear and knew nothing about it until he saw a classmate walk into my house as they arrived. Anyway, the party was yesterday. We got out of class around noon and I went home to clean and finish the cake. I had baked it the night before and froze it, but I still had to make the filling and frosting and assemble the cake. I was able to put the filling in before Jake came over for his massage and as soon as I kicked him out Danine came over to cook and decorate. I managed to make the frosting after a small mishap of adding too much water and it turned out great! Everyone was amazed that I made it from scratch and the whole party was a huge success! Most of the cake got eaten but Jake was happy to tak the rest home to eat himself. I was surprised at how well it turned out and am glad it didn't collapse on me like the past two birthday cakes have.

Favorite Childhood Memories

I don't know why, but watching conference this morning made me start thinking of favorite childhood memories so I decided to write them down. It isn't a very long list. These just came to my head the fastest. They are in no particular order. I hope the people I made these memories had as much fun making them as much as I did!
-Playing kemps at family reunions.
-Camping
-Barrel racing on the twins in Randy & Debbie's basement.
-Playing guns at the Whitmer's with Trevor, Kelly and Melinda, especially when Linda made gun noises.
-Christmas in St. David
-The Nativity Story with nieces, nephews and cousins even if we did have to force a few cousins (Britton and Garrett).
-Thanksgiving at Grandma & Grandpa Kerby's and playing in the playhouse when it rained.
-Driving to St. David with just my daddy. I don't know how old I was or why it was just us and it was a very quiet drive, but I remember it. I think we were in the Prelude.
-Uncle Rod pulling me up onto a horse to ride with him. I felt like I was in a western movie:)
-Playing "Saved by the Bell" with Sky and Kelly.
-Uncle Rod's wedding reception. We all got to dress to match the colors!
-Sitting on the tractor with Grandpa Goodman while he was pulling out some sort of bushes or trees that did not want to be uprooted.
-Talking Donny's ear off when he would pick me up from practice during junior high.
-Riding in the bed of old blue.
-Everyone visiting me in the hospital after my accident.
-Fighting over who got to sleep in the reclining chair at the trailer on Miller Lane.
-Lots and lots of hugs!!
-Not going to St. David because of a swim meet and then completely forgetting about the meet until it was over because we were shopping with mom.
-Grandma Goodman giving me some of her recipes when she found out that I love to cook.
-Going to Alpine with the Woods.
-Daddy playing his guitar and reciting "Skunk Pole Cat"!
-Swing dancing with siblings in the living room. (Added by Ginger)

I love you guys!!

How I know I miss Heather Farr

This may seem like a silly post, but I am posting it anyway. If nothing else you will learn a little more about me, even if you think you know me. Most of you, ok none of you but Adam, know my old roommate Heather. Boy are you missing out! She is one of my favorite people ever and we were only roommates for 7 months. It is strange that even though neither of us was ever home we managed to have fun together quite often. I loved that even when we were in separate rooms I didn't feel like we were apart. Now I live in a house with three other girls, two of whom are really good friends, one since elementary school, and I feel like I am always by myself. Kate and I will sometimes do something together and sometimes we talk when we get home from school, but even then it is often over the instant messenger to be funny. It just isn't the same.
Anyway, today I was again bored out of my mind because nobody is home except Alyce who was sleeping all day (she works night shifts at the hospital) and realized how much I miss Heather. I even put together a list of ways I know that I miss Heather:

1. It was raining and all I wanted to do was sit in front of the TV with a blanket, dark hot chocolate and the short version of "Pride and Predjudice".
2. I catch myslef using the word "fabulous".
3. I only had cheddar cheese in the fridge so I took a piece of Kate's munster cheese for my sandwich (egg concoction, hashbrowns and cheese with salsa) just to add a little variety.
4. We bought the same shoes in different colors!
5. I bought clothes that look a lot like hers. (the purple top and black sweater and cream top)
6. We take pics when we play Scrabble so she can see how we did and all the fun words.

A Hurricane in Flagstaff

My mom will probably be horrified when she sees this, but those of you who know me well should expect it. She always used to say that it looked like a hurricane hit my room, and this week was no exception. This is what my room looks like when I go out of town for the weekend. I had so much laundry to do (probably two weeks worth) which I started at night and had to finish the next morning and no time to fold and put it away before I had to go to class, plus some of them had to air dry so I couldn't put them away even if I wanted to. I did put the clothes on my bed away before I went to be that night, but the rest stayed until this morning. Luckily I didn't have class today so I was bored. I planned to go to the gym and lift weights, but there are always so many meat heads there that I decided to clean instead, and yes I am feeling ok. I can't exercise in my room if I can't see the floor, so that was my motivation. I took three pics of it clean so you could see I wasn't hiding things in corners. The cute drawings on the wall are from my niece Bailee (who signed the pics "Bailee Rae Lou Organ because her teacher says she looks like Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch). I don't know how long it will stay like this, but it will at least be clean until I get home from work:) Just kidding. I can normally keep it like this a week unless I do laundry again, which might be a good idea so I don't have so much to put away. Well, time to work out. Yeah!!

Random Cousins

So I have always known that I had a lot of relatives, but I didn't realize how many I really have. When we moved to Gilbert I had two third cousins in my same grade at the same school and one ended up being my best friend through high school. Then I met another third cousin and siblings of the first two when I went to Gilbert High. Now I am in Flagstaff and have met two more cousins! Will this never end?! Just kidding. One of the girls in my PT class is a distant cousin and she just happened to live next to another cousin last year until they both moved into my ward. So random. Anyway, Kate and I are bestest friends and Lane is pretty cool too, even though he is more than a foot taller than me. Sadly, he is moving to the valley for work. Kate and I were so sad that we decided to throw him a going away party. His roommates pitched in and we had a BBQ/homemade ice cream party at our house. (Kate and I live together.) It turned out awesome and everyone loved the ice cream (Thanks mom!). I became many people's "best friend". The boys took care of the BBQ, I made vanilla ice cream and Kate and I smashed up Reeses, Butterfingers, oreos, and peanuts. We also had strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, chocolate chips, whipped cream, butterscotch, fudge and chocolate syrup. Anyone hungry now? LOL.
