Music and Ngoni

I like Ngoni. Ngoni the band which is mainly some two dudes, mostly because the way they sing somehow makes me laugh and cheers up. Am not yet aware if they have a PAM award or someother award because apparently am not the number one fan.

I watched the Video they made with Desire over the weekend and was very amused the whole way...of cource being in Uganda, they can be forgiven for being so monotonous and using only one scene in a group of malwa and a weirdly dressed lawyer.

Here is the Video am trying to yipe about,Pls note: It might not get any award

Between I think they are making some mob dime, the lawyer guy has turned out to be such a fatso and his face was like he'd been in some bar fight. At this rate I should try singing too...Any one know someone who can turn my croaking voice into dimes??

But seriously, someone should show that Ngoni dude where the gym is before he fails to stand up and dance in his next song

Desire as usual was being her hot self.

Cheers!!

Switchfoot Love

Over the weekend, I reconnected with my top most band switch foot. Their latest album "The Best Yet" a collection of their top songs from past albums is just too Ballistic. It does lack a few personal faves like 'Sooner or Later (Soren's Song)' & 'Adding To The Noise' but I also feel in love with 'Concrete Girl' and 'Gone' which have been inspiring and added me some more ounces of a positive attitude.

I thought I'd share the lyrics of 'Gone" which has so far been played 214 times from Saturday.

If you love the Windows Media Player, like me, and have internet connectivity when listening to music, I recommend some cool plug in called lyrics plugin Every thing about it is on the link that follows. http://www.lyricsplugin.com

Hope you are also blown away like me!!

Gone
Switchfoot

She told him she'd rather fix her makeup
than try and fix what's going on
But the problem keeps on calling
even with the cell phone gone.

She told him that she believes in living
bigger than she's living now
But her world keeps spinning backwards
And upside down.

Don't say so long, and throw yourself wrong.
Don't spin today away, 'cause today will soon be

Gone, like yesterday is gone
Like history is gone
Just try and prove me wrong and
pretend like you're immortal.

She said, he said, live like no tomorrow
Everyday we borrow brings us
one step closer to the edge. Infinity.
Where's your treasure, where's your hope
if you get the world and lose your soul?
She pretends like she pretends like she's immortal.

Don't say so long, you're not that far gone.
This could be your big chance to make-up
Today will soon be

Gone, like yesterday is gone
Like history is gone
The world keeps spinning on
You're going, going
Gone, like summer break is gone,
Like Saturday is gone
Just try and prove me wrong and
pretend like you're immortal (you're immortal)
You're immortal (you're immortal)

Ha-ah

We are not infinite
We are not permanent
Nothing is immediate
We are so confident in our accomplishments.
Look at our decadence.

Gone, like Frank Sinatra, like Elvis and his mom,
Like Al Pacino's cash, nothing lasts in this life.
My High School dreams are gone,
my childhood sweets are gone
Life is a day that doesn't last for long.

Life is more than money, time was never money.
Time was never cash, life is still more than girls.
Life is more than hundred dollar bills and roto-tom fills.
Life is more than fame and rock and roll and thrills,
All the riches of the kings end up in wills
We've got information in the information age
but do we know what life is outside of our convenient Lexus cages?

She said he said live like no tomorrow
Every moment that we borrow brings us closer
to a God who's not short of cash
Hey Bono, I'm glad you asked.
Life is still worth living, Life is still worth living.
Life is more than you are.

Desire

This post is about Ugandan female artists. It is my answer to the question, who would you date? or as Glenn Quagmire would ask, "which one would you wanton"? or simply put whose your biggest crush?

This did not require much thought on my side when it was randomly spat on me by one of my pals.
She was in red when I first laid eyes on her and not only her voice but moves stole my heart. It was at that Brick&Lace show when she passed by me and smelt like a hot chic is supposed to smell. I was surprised when minutes later she was on stage doing her stuff and just like that I was crushed.

Long story short, here are her pictures and if you believe the red pepper, you're a moron.

Here she is Enjoy!!

Vindicated

Vindicated
Dashboard Confessional

Hope dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption
Winding in and winding out
The shine of it has caught my eye

And roped me in
So, mesmerizing,and so hypnotizing,
I am captivated,I am

Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
Swear I knew it all along
And I am flawed, but I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So clear
Like the diamond in your ring
Cut to mirror your intention
Oversized and overwhelmed
The shine of which has caught my eye
And rendered me
So isolated,and so motivated
I am certain now that I am

Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
Swear I knew it all along
And I am flawed, but I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So turn
up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment fall forever

Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'll be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away
So let me slip away
So let me slip away
So let me slip against the current
So let me slip away
So let me slip away
So let me slip away
So let me slip away

Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
Swear I knew it all along
And I am flawed, but I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

Slight hope
dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption...

The Playlist..one

Dear all, It has been a rather uneventfully weekend for me and as such have noting much to write about hence bring up this post I'd made some time back to use on such days. Of course, with the US election high up, I have nothing to say except Am hoping history is made today.

From the time I got that Mp3 player, I've been looking for music to fill up most of the allocated 2gb. Back home in Ug, this would have been a rather simple task considering that half of my lapi was packed with only music all compressed to create more space, long story short my backup external fell and I left my lapi home with big sis.

Music I love, Top of the list is rock, gospel, then some reggae. I was able to replace most of my collection with the help of the internet and some individual songs, I get Here!

My small player is not yet full and has space for about 130 more songs, Am not going to fill up a whole post with all that music only the top 5 artists in each music genera. This first bit will only have alternative rock the rest will follow in more scarcity times.

Rock- The Alternative
  1. Linkin Park This is one of my greatest bands, I somehow find myself listening to their music and I have most of their albums with me. The songs that get to me are from
  2. Cold Play Most of the cold play songs appeal to my inner self and I find them immensely comforting. The notable ones are:-
  3. GreenDay All my friends like green day, so its natural
  4. Red Hot Chili Peppers.
    • Album: Californication(1999) -Californication(Lyrics), -Otherside(Lyrics)

  5. Sound Tracks. These songs I mostly learnt about after watching the movie and had to get the full versions.
    • Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want To Be: "One Tree Hill, Vol. 2" Ost
    • Breaking Benjamin - Forget It: Smallville: The Metropolis Mix
    • Goo Goo Dolls - Before It's Too Late: Transformers(The Movie)
    • Snow Patrol - Signal Fire: Spider Man.3
    • Dashboard Confessional – Vindicated: Spider Man.2
    • David Grey - Its Not Easy To Be Me: Smallville: The Talon Mix
    • Maximum the Hormone -What's up, people?: Death Note Ost
    • Goo Goo Dolls - Iris: City of Angels
That winds up the first few rock songs that made it to my player and cant seam to get enough of them. next is the rock- The Christian.

What's in your Player?

Looking for

I'm looking for a lover not a friend
Somebody who can be there when I need someone to talk to
I'm looking for someone who won't pretend
Somebody not afraid to say the way they feel about you

Is it you? is it you?
Maybe you're the one I've been waiting for
Could you be the one for me?
Could you be the one I need?

These are the opening lyrics to the song that am currently feeling "Cassie - is it you". I wonder if I should post this on my up coming match.com profile. The rest of the song lyrics is here. This song, I knew about from the movie Step up 2: The streets which is a sequel to Step up. The whole movie has great dancing moves and that's one of the things that kept me watching it till the end. nwho back to the song, Yes this one

The clip shows some scenes from the move but lacks the throbbing opening beat on the original song here. Isn't she hot?

Movie synopsis
Am terribly bad at doing this but If yo Interested in the plot, thankfully you can get the whole story from these guys.

Liked
The dancing, It was completely awesome. Reminded me of the time I tried my hand at dancing way back....it was not easy I had to get hurt and break some of my already fused bones to be able to make a "wave" that would seam impossible and finally danced at school and church. However, that was short lived as it seamed there was more to life than just dancing and soon gave up with this venture. I think I can still do small time break dancing tho.

The hot chicks!! Not only could they dance but could also turn heads.

Disliked
The movie made me realize how much excitement my life lacks. I've not yet learned how to walk in this huge big new city let alone made new friends and as such can't experience or explore the best out there. May be I will eventually.

Recommended
If you've not yet caught this movie and like movies with no serious plot line but great dancing action, then it high time you check out

The other great movie for the weekend was Max Payne, by the shooter guy Mark Wahlberg. No I did not pay the 15 bucks for the movie but watched a bootleg version like 5bucks from some street hawker which was pretty neat. All I can add is am certainly going to buy the dvd release to experience the movie with minimum interruption from the guys going to the loos.

What did you guys get up to over the weekend?

Going Out Vs Staying In

Sharing my last story with my mum and sister only brought laughter and mob shelling for me. I had expected them to be more sympathetic having lived in NY much longer than me, I bet they must have had such similar situations.

My mum had always insisted when I arrived some two months ago to get out there explore my neighbor hood and sure enough I can easily get around down town NY where I live from home to the super market and Library. The experience certainly raised questions in my mind like; May be I should start outing? May be am not yet ready? should I go visit the city parks?

At the moment, these are my thoughts at the going out and staying in options.

Going out??

Sure!! It’s nice to go out and see the world but this is my say on general outings

Bad people: Sure enough dancing is fun but I froze this because of some dudes back in Uganda at Angenoir night club where I accidentally joined a circle of guys dancing and they turned out to be gay eeeooww!! Am not gay and I do not hate gays but they should not come on to straight people sure this ugangan gay advocate guy (I’ve read about in some blogs and on BHH posts) may have some thing to add on. The fear meeting more of these individuals maintains my suspension in night clubbing. People getting drunk and wasted is another story

Friends: Going out is fun with friends. I’ve had dozen outings with friends and they were all fun. The times I’ve gone alone, I get so bored and vowed never to go outing without having someone to share the thrill and experience with. So till I make new reliable friends, outing is on pause.

Money *shs*: There is the saying “money does not buy happiness” but I strongly believe that may be money does buy happiness what’s your say? In this new world, money is a big necessity to be able to do any thing. Being currently broke means that I can not reliably enjoy the good things money offer such as transportation, tickets and numerous other things for entertainment pleasure. Thinking about where else this money could have been place makes me consider a lot in outing…....and no am not a tightwad.

Note that, you can always do what you want to do when out in your house for free.

Staying in??

No way! Unless it's raining, I do know people who swear by that saying but here goes my say

Work done: Finally you can get the chance to tidy up your room, do some gardening in the back yard, blog or finish up some reading which adds to your happiness without having to spend the dime.

Own Playlist: Chameleon – No thanks!! I remember having to endure this guy’s music at some outing and you could not fast forward or convince the DJ to try some thing else. I sometimes prefer having some level of control over what I can call music to listen to.

Video Games: I always look forward to Grand theft Auto and Mortal Combat, Two of the games you are most likely to get me engaged in. it gets so hard to leave without finishing some levels and you'd certainly not stop until you realize it's way past your bed time.

Virtual Reality: Advance in technology and power of the Internet have defined a whole new going out experience. You can be anything you want online and be the most social person without having to face any dangers of REAL life.

Lastly, The thing I love most about the staying in bit is having the power to virtually control the activities you engage in. Beat That!!

Don't you'll get me wrong, I like going out every once in a while if the occasion, crowd and venue is all right and the money is available, but most of the time I'm certain to be found staying in

I'd received some information and lots of stories from a friend who once lived in New York some 5 years ago but apparently lots has changed since then and I will eventual some day get off the internet and conquer the big apple and he also sent this link with some of the stuff to do in nyc

What can I say? I'll sure give it a try and certainly blog.

Something unexpected In the mail....

This afternoon, The Mailman final brought it. I was not expecting the package for at least another two days because the company promise delivery with a week but USPS has indeed made a great Impression. I remember loathing using the Uganda postal service ever since it lost my sister's success card and money my parents had sent to me while still in boarding school. Am not sure if the situation has changed but I strongly believe all of us have some story with the post office -Right?

Any how, I tore off the packaging excitedly like a child would launch at a sweet and oh my was I greatly disappointed.May be it's because of those new T.V adds with the nano-chromatic i pods or I'd just over estimated my expectations but the sansa MP3 player that I had got off amazon was no longer as appealing as it looked. Here Is a picture of the thing.
I hope you can see what made me make the choice. Being that sleek looking, capacity of 2Gb and costing about 31$(+taxes) made it an ideal partner.
The bad side however was, The protruding backside(not in pic) designed to accommodate a single AAA battery (They were kind enough to include a battery) thus making it more large than slim. The thing uses an external USB connector meaning you have to always move with it somehow or miss getting that song you always wanted at some rare source.
Talk about looks can be deceiving!!
The most thing I hate about it is the constant replacement of battery which cost more $ and damage to the environment (don't ask how)

At the moment, there is nothing else to do but be happy with what I have in hand. The consolation is; It has Integrated FM radio, built-in microphone and voice recorder and can hold about 32 hours of MP3 and 64 hours of WMA audio. It does save you about 25$ compared to an i-pod mp3 player of the same capacity. Oh and I almost forgot to mention it was a gift card at amazon that paid for it.

The set up is not complicated at all and am planning to load it first with my favorite songs, which of course I'll be able to share with you in the upcoming days.

Till Then, Have a great Week!!!
