These are a few of my favorite things

Aaron is no longer a baby. He is officially a toddler now that he is walking all over the place and he constantly throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. We try very hard not to give into those tantrums.

I thought I would share with you a few things that Aaron loves:

For starters, the following picture shows three of his favorite things.
1) his green blanket, yes, Aaron has a favorite blanket. He is always dragging this blanket everywhere eand he has a hard time sleeping without it. It is always hard to take it from him just so we have can wash it.
2.) Elmo - This is another thing Aaron can't seem to sleep without and he loves taking Elmo everywhere with him.
3.) How do I get a 14month old to sit so still like that for a picture? Well he is watching his favorite baby Einstein show, "Baby Noah".

Did I mention Aaron loves Elmo? Sometimes when he wants to walk around the apartment he needs both hands to explore so Elmo is held by his mouth. Even as I write this Aaron is exploring the kitchen with Elmo in his mouth. I think it is funny when he holds him by the eye.

Walking is Aaron's new favorite activity. He loves it so much that he could spend hours just walking around the apartment. Crawling is definitely a thing of the past. The only time Aaron crawls is when he falls down he can't get back up all by himself. So he crawls to the nearest wall or furniture to help him get back up. This picture is funny because he got a straw from a restaurant and he kept it in his mouth all night just chewing on it.

And last but not least, Aaron loves bath time. Once he hears the bath water running he can hardly sit still for me to undress him. Then once I do get him undress he immediately goes into the bathroom and tries to climb in himself. He always has a smile on his face when he is in the bathtub.

Aaron is walking

I think today was a turning point in Aaron's ability to walk. For months he has been so close to walking. He will walk as long as I am holding his hand, or he is pushing his stoller or a shopping cart. He has just lacked the confidence to walk so any time he was on his own he would drop to his knees. Today he has gotten up the courage to walk between furniture. He has been taking 5 or 6 steps at a time. I was amazed that I was able to get him to walk to me on my first try of taking a video. My little boy is growing up.

Aaron the pretoddler

Say "cheese"!

I just realized that it has been a while since I posted about Aaron and what he is doing. So for the sake of the family I thought I would give you an update on this little guy. He is 13 1/2 months old and he is getting smarter and smarter every day. He is constantly surprising me with the new things he can do. Unfortunately we have slacked off on taking pictures so I don't have too many to show you.

The other day I was doing my make-up while sitting on the floor. Aaron loves to hang out with me while I do this and get into my make-up bag. Well out of the corner of my eye I noticed him getting up. I looked over and the kid had stood up all by himself and stood there for about 10 sec. Aaron is not walking yet but he is certainly capable if he wasn't so scared of falling. I will give him one finger to hold on to and he will walk around. The second I pull my finger away he will drop to the ground. So the fact that he stood up all by himself was amazing to me.

Aaron has learned a new word. He used to say "mama" and daddy" but he really doesn't say those as much but he loves to say "hi" to everyone and everything(toys) he sees. Now he loves to say "ball". He absolutely loves to play with balls. So now whenever he wants to play with his ball he will say "bawl". It is really cute. He is constantly saying the baba sound so it wasn't a huge surprise that ball was his next word. Although it is pretty exciting that he knows what it means.

We have been trying to get him to clap his hands for months. We would clap our hands and then I would put his hands together and help him clap his hands but for a while when he wanted to clap his hands he would just pat his belly with both hands. Then one random day I was feeding him lunch and he put his hands together and started clapping. He loves to clap all the time. It makes him happy. I happened to have the camera near by for when he figured out how to clap. I was also trying to get him to show off his other trick of singing with me Old McDonald. He keeps singing "eieieiei" still hasn't figured out the "o" but it is still cute. I am sorry if you have to hear me sing. :)
Other things that he is progressing on is when he is playing with his wooden A,B,C blocks. We usually stack them and he comes and knocks it over. Now he is stacking the blocks. The most he has done on his own is 6 blocks. We would have taken a picture but then he knocks it over. He also has stacking cups that he is starting to stack as well. It is pretty cute watching him try to figure it out.

Last night was a lot of fun. Aaron put his lips together and tried to spit. Then I copied him and he thought it was hilarious. I did it again and again and he was laughing harder than I have ever heard him laugh. It was so funny and cute that both Eric and I had tears of laughter in our eyes. This boy is no longer a baby, he is a toddler.

A couple of weeks ago Aaron got his 1st year immunization shots. One of the shots was the MMR. They told us that he might be running a fever but we weren't expecting him to react like this. He was miserable for days with a fever and then a rash that covers his head and his body.

Cuddling with mom because he doesn't feel very good. :( Poor guy!
