I am almost eight.

I am turning 8. I have a baby. He is five months. He is one cute dude.

Hello

Well, it has been a long time since we have posted anything on Dallen's blog. We are homeschooling - Dallen is very smart, but sometimes doesn't stay on task. He constantly surprises Mommy by just how much he knows and how much he picks remembers!

Dallen is also really fine tuning his art skills. He has made a ton of paper plays - Star Wars, Sushi Pack, etc. He has also made some wonderful clay items and adorable drawings!

This is the only picture we have on this computer to show off his recent work!

Also, important to note - this school year (August 2009) Dallen started the math book Alpha. He has now finished Alpha and 23 out of the 30 lessons in Beta. Way to go Dallen!! you are definitely working hard!

Bonus Minutes

We have started giving the kids minutes towards watching movies or playing games when they do their chores, obey during school, and finish their work. This evening daddy told the kids that he would give them 10 bonus minutes tomorrow if mommy doesn't have to fuss at any of them.

With a very contemplative look on his face Dallen said "Well I don't know how that's gonna' happen."

Dinner

Tonight we went over to a friends house for dinner. Dallen was trying to ask for something else but wouldn't speak up. So the Bishop says "Do you need another cheddarwurst?" Dallen replied "No, Mommy said we only get one." At least he listened.

We all had a blast. At one point Dallen came out and said "Can we come here again?" I said "If they invite us." He was such a cutie.

Homeschooling

Well, we are officially a homeschooling family. It is a little wild and crazy, but I must admit week three is better than the first two. But today Dallen said the funniest thing. I was sitting at Chloe' and Dallen's table while they did their math, helping them as they needed. Dallen turns to me and says "This is hard Mommy. At school we never had work that we needed help with." I just laughed and told him it is because he is so smart and doing such a great job. He is doing first grade work in all subjects and is really doing well. He might need a little help figuring out how to do something, but he is quite capable of all the work he is doing.

Report Cards

Today is report card and I am happy to report that Dallen not only got perfect attendance, but all S's for his grades. He is a smart little kid and we are so pleased with his success. Way to go, D!

I went to Chloe's class today for an activity and saw one of the moms that has a child in both Chloe and Dallen's classes. She said that her kindergartner just adores Dallen. I said "Really, but they don't even sit by each other anymore." This Mom said "I think that's why!" Her daughter said " I am just crazy about him."
