A couple of things from ELF :)

Hi ladies,

I ordered a few bits from ELF a couple of week ago which I thought I would share with you. I already have a few ELF brushes (I use the blending eye brush on an almost daily basis and it is fab value at £1.50!) so I picked a couple more and decided to give their eye primer a try too.

I adore the blush brush. It is from the studio range which is still really great value at £3.50. Its super soft and cleans really well with my MAC brush cleanser. This brush is quite flat for a blush brush and has a pointed edge which I find really useful for contouring, I tend to use the flat side to apply product to the apples of my cheeks.

The eyeliner brush was £1.50. It is quite a bit thicker than my other eyeliner brushes and I find it quite difficult to use for pricision work. However it is great if you are wanting a smokey eyeliner effect (I definitely think I will be using this brush for my bride of dracula halloween makeup!).

I wasn't particularly impressed by the eyelid primer, and this is probably because I usually use urbay decay's primer which I think is fantastic! This left my eyelids feeling quite dry and I don't think it helped the staying power of my eyeshadow which creased quite quickly.

I normally get some stocking fillers from ELF for my sister and mum for Chirstmas so let me know which products you like best :)

Have a super sunday!

Nails Of The Day and Product of the week :)

Hi Ladies :)

Sorry for the recent lack of posts, i'm in the middle of moving house so things are pretty hectic! But I'm back with a short and sweet nails of the day and a new product of the week :) So as we move into Autumn (hello rain and gale force winds!) the nail varnish I have been reaching for most often is the very lovely Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, which I am sure you will have all seen before! :)

Metro Chic is a really unique dirty lilac toned grey, perfect for teaming with cosy chunky cardi's an jumpers as we enter these colder months! I have not tried any other polishes from the Sephora by OPI collection, but this applies great and lasts really well even without a topcoat.

You may have noticed that in the top right hand corner of my blog there is a product of the week feature which I try to update roughly weekly! I've decided to a little post each time I change the product of the week so I can let you know in a nutshell why I'm enjoying it so much! So this week the product in the spotlight is Elf's studio blush in Candid Coral :)

This blush is possibly my all time favourite product from elf, it is absolutely gorgeous and a total bargain for only £3.50. It's a lovely warm peachy coral with shimmer (but not too much!) which adds a pinch of colour and a lovely glow to your cheeks. I also find that this blush is the perfect size for popping in your handbag, and although I have had it for atleast five or six months I am no where near hitting pan so there is plenty of product too - I love it! :)

Hope you're having a great week!

Some Elf bits and bobs :-)

Hi Ladies,

I thought I'd give you a quick run down of a few elf products I have purchased in recent months!
First up is two of the single eyeshadows from the studio range, Sand dollar on the left and butter cream on the right.

I bought these when I was on the quest for a natural eyeshadow to wear all over my lid on a day to day basis. These are the two lightest eyeshadows elf do in their studio line, and although they are both pretty I have to say they are not quite the colours I expected from the swatches on the website, butter cream in particular is alot more yellow toned than it looks on the website. Sand dollar is completely white with some shimmer - very pretty for brightening up the inner corner. The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is ok. Not bad but definately not the best, I think the darker eyeshadows in this range probably have better pigmentation. The best thing about these shadows is the little mirror on the inside which is always handy!

Next up is by far one of my favourite elf products - the warm bronzer from the studio range.

I am sure you will have already heard about this bronzer but just incase you havn't the first thing I will say is that it is a total bargain for £3.50! It contains four colours which you can either blend togther or use alone. I mix them together and apply lightly with a big fluffy brush for a lovely natural sunkissed glow! The only problem I have with this product is that this is my 2nd bronzer and both of mine shattered once I hit pan on them, the same happened to my sisters and I don't think the pan holds the product particulary well so you have to be quite careful with it!

and finally, the studio powder brush.

I love this brush! It is so versatile, I have used it to apply mineral foundation, bronzer, blusher, powder and even liquid foundation! It is kind of like a flat topped kabuki but with a longer handle! When I first used this brush I was amazed by how soft it was, it feels lovely and smooth on your skin - definately one of my top elf purchases! I have quite a few elf brushes both from the studio range and the normal range and I'm always impressed with their quality.

Thats all for now! Hope you're having a fab week!

Products I Regret Buying (Part 1!)

Hi Ladies!

So as I have started project 10 pan and am trying not to spend too much at the moment, I have started revisiting quite a few of my older products which need using up! Whist I have uncovered a few golden oldies I have also come across quite a few products which are collecting dust at the back of my drawer for a reason - Cue my products I regret buying post! These are just things which didn't work for me, and for some people will probably work really well (there are loads of things that I love and my friends don't and vice versa!)

So sadly the first product which I don't really love that much at all is a MAC product. The strobe kiss tinted lip conditioner stick.

I bought this when I first started experimenting with lipstick, I thought it would be the perfect transition between a gloss and a lipstick (how friendly does the name tinted lip conditioner sound!?) When I swatched it on my hand it seemed like a lovely subtle coral colour, however once I put it on my lips at home it was extremely sheer with next to no colour and felt very waxy. The most off putting thing about this product for me though was the taste! - yuck! its sort of a mix between a very sickly marshmallow and suncream - bad times.

Next up is a more recent purchase. The elf corrective concealer palette.

I was really excited when elf added some more studio products to their line not so long ago (I am a huge elf fan I cannot get over the amazing prices!) I was especially excited by this as I have alway been intruigued by the colour theory with concealer. On first impressions I really liked this palette the concealers felt creamy and the little brush in the palette is really cute! However when I actually applied them the colour pay off was really disappointing and sort of left my skin looking shiney :-( I use these concealers very occasionaly as an eye base which they are actually quite effective as - so all is not lost!

and finally boots essentials styling mousse.

Hair mousse makes up part of my everyday hair routine when I straighten my hair. I always use a small amount to add some extra lift to my hair at the root to stop it from looking too flat and to add a little va va voom! Its a product which I've never felt the need to part with that many pennies over as I have found most cheaper hair mousses (around £1.00) are perfectly capable of doing the job! However for me, this wasn't the case with the boots essentials hair mousse. It left my hair feeling sticky, clumped together and worst of all - flat! definately not the desired look. thumbs down boots!

So thats all for now, I actually really enjoyed doing this post! Let me know about any products you have regretted buying recently or if you can think of any ways I could try and make these three work for me!

A little ELF haul :-)

Hi Ladies!

I ordered a few things from elf at the weekend and I was really pleased when I got home today and there was a parcel waiting for me! I thought I'd share with you what I got :-)

First I ordered the new corrective concealer palette, which is one of the new products just added to the studio range.

It contains two creamy beige colours for covering imperfections, a green for cancelling out redness and a lilac colour to brighten yellow tones. On first impressions the concealers feel really creamy and easy to blend, it also comes with a cute little brush - I'm looking forward to using this! :-)

Next up I got the pearl white eye widener pencil and a brightening eye liner in black.

The eye widener is lovely - really creamy and pigmented. It also has this ingenious little sharpener on the end! The black eyeliner comes with a sharpener too!

and finally I repurchased two brushes I already have because they are such bargains and I use them all the time - The eye shadow brush and the blending eye brush.

These brushes are FABULOUS and so cheap! I cannot rave about them enough. I did buy one more product which I love so much already I am going to devote a whole post to it so watch out for that in the next couple of days!

Hope you're all having a great week!

It might be nearly Autumn...but my nails are still in Summer!

Hiya everyone, I thought I'd do a quick nails of the day. Like I said in the title, although its nearly autumn (and I love autumn colours!) I'm still enjoying vibrant summer colours on my nails! Today I went for an Elf polish in coral :

Like most elf polishes, when i got this little gem in the post it was nothing like the swatch on the website but I still love it! Its a slightly milky coral with a lovely gold shimmer, it gives good coverage after two coats and is a really lovely unusual colour. However, you need a good base coat and top coat when applying this polish as without it chips really really fast (it also takes quite a while to dry) but I can't really grumble for the bargain price of £1.50!

Sorry for my short stumpy nails, I have to keep them trimmed as I have eczema on my legs and if I let them grow too much I just scratch at it to my hearts content (mainly in my sleep!)

Can any one recommend any great polishes for this autumn? and a great moistuiser for super dry skin!?

Have a fab weekend!

Product Rave : ELF mineral eyeshadow in celebrity

Hi ladies! Last week I ordered a few things from elf (let me know if you'd like to see what else I got!), and the one product which has really stood out for me, and has even made its way into my handbag makeup bag (a highly prestigious award!) is the mineral eyeshadow in celebrity pictured below:

It is a lovely shimmery light golden brown, such a pretty pretty colour! I'm never really been drawn to mineral eyeshadows before, I find loose powder eye shadows really hard to get on with (I've never been able to get to grips with barry M dazzle dusts or mac pigments!) However i've found applying this shadow really easy. I usually take the shadow from the lid of the pot with my brush which stops me from getting too much. The only downside is that it definately needs an eye primer/base to stick too. I applied it to my mums lids with no base yesterday and the staying power was still good, but it was definately starting to fade a little after a few hours. To me, this shadow looks like a cousin of the MAC woodwinked/satin taupe/all that glitters family! I've been wearing it with all that glitters and it looks lovely!

I'm definately going to try some more mineral shadows so let me know if you have any to recommend!

Top tip for kabuki brushes! and Nail Varnish Rave!

Hi all! So, in my ELF haul I mentioned how I was a little disappointed with the fullness of my kabuki face brush. Today I have a top tip for anyone who needs to make their kabuki a little denser for buffing in product, and all you need is a.....*drum roll*......hair bobble! Tying a bobble round the base of the brush really compacts the bristles and depending on how dense you want your brush to be you can move the bobble further up or down the brush! (see pic below for my ELF kabuki after the hair bobble treatment!)
Also, yesterday I jumped on the collection 2000 hot looks band wagon (extremely late might I add!) and picked up the dynasty nail varnish on my way home from work. I am SO impressed with this nail varnish, after two applications it is flawless and the colour is a gorgeous dusty bubblegum pink, It also dries super quick! Here is Dynasty pictured next to a couple of other polishes I want to rave about.

The three little bottles on the left are a french manicure set which I got from the one and only primark for £1! The white tip is a little hard to apply as the brush is a bit too big for that kind of pricision work! But the top coat and french pink are fab especially for £1! The next is a NYC new york colour minute in midtown, this is a gorgeous fushia pink with a slight sparkle to it. it is a great colour for the toes and applys super well!

Has anyone else come across any bargain nail varnish recently?
