After doing a few baby blankets, I decided to give this lap quilt a try for my friend, Natalie's, birthday. I totally loved piecing and sewing the quilt top together. It's hard to tell, but it's all tiny Christmas prints.
The back was an "oopsie." I cut the fabric too short, so I had to add a strip of pieced fabric to make it long enough. I didn't like it just at the top or bottom, so I cut the blue fabric and added the strip between two sections. And to top it all off, I was lucky enough to get to give it to her in person!

Triplets

These 3 girls have been friends from birth! The funny thing is that they always seem to dress alike even without planning. I sent Emma to Tucson with this polka dot dress for church (because it was easy to pack and wouldn't wrinkle!), and this is the picture Craig took of them. Kimberly, Emma, and Kaitlyn...I love my triplets!

Scripture Study

Why do the funniest things always happen during scripture study time? And why am I the only one EVER here to hear them? Here's how it went today:

We're reading in 1 Nephi 14 about Nephi's vision regarding the great and abominable church...the harlot of the earth, etc.
Emma asks, "What's a harlot?"
I think how best to respond, then ask, "Emma, do you know what sex is?"
She smiles, embarrassed, and nods. Kevin bursts out, "I DO!"
(That's another discussion I can look forward to...)
So I say, "Well, a harlot is a person who has sex for money."
Emma knowingly replies, "Oh...Lady Gaga," to which Kevin says, "Oh, ya."

Baby Quilt #1

I just finished making Tara's baby quilt yesterday. It was fast and easy, but did cause me to have a few back problems (over 1000 stitches...wink!). The pictures are before washing and after. Thanks to Crazy Mom Quilts on my sidebar for the fantastic idea!
Now hurry up and have that baby, Tara!

Quilting

Last year was busy...
One of my goals for 2010 was to make 2 quilts. I decided to make queen-size scrap quilts for Rebecca and Tara since they live where it's cold. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but finally got to it and I'm so happy I did. I love quilting! Who knew?!? I bought some remnants to go with the scraps I already had, but I had LOTS to begin with; all the scraps from hair bows, dresses, pajamas, and crafts of days gone by.
These pictures are of Rebecca's quilt on the frames, close-ups of the blocks, and the finished product.

Apparently, I forgot to take pictures of Tara's along the way, but she's holding the quilt on Christmas morning.

Next comes baby quilts...

Piano Recitals

Emma and Kevin performing at their recitals last Sunday. They played well and we had a fun time with our friends afterward. Thanks for coming everyone!
