High Tea @ Thirty8, Grand Hyatt KL

Looking for a high tea spot in KL? Consider Thirty8 at Grand Hyatt!

Like the name suggests, Thirty8 is situated at Level 38 of Grand Hyatt Hotel in the heart of KL. Visited the restaurant for my birthday celebration with the 2 besties, Katie and Jess.

Birthday girl months ago. Took additional effort to make myself look like a doll *creep*

We haven’t had proper birthday celebration together for years since Katie is always away from Malaysia. Fortunate for me this year she happened to be around!

If you’re heading to Thirty8 in the weekend, remember to call in advance to make your reservation.

Lighting is perfect at Thirty8 for great photos.

Priced at RM68 per person, the 3-tier high tea set consists of macarons, scones, cakes and sandwiches.

It is not mandatory to order the tea set. There’s a selection of ala carte desserts in the high tea menu as well.

We ordered the signature cake as suggested by reviews – RM26.

The waiter poured hot caramel sauce over it accompanied by the dramatic dry ice effect. Fascinating.

It doesn’t just look good, but tastes awesome as well! No doubt the signature cake. The must-have at Thirty8!

Musical band playing downstairs as we dined.

The only photo of us with the KLCC towers.  The view is great, doesn’t matter if we look dark.

Always wanted one princess-descending-the-stairs kind of photo. Now I’ve got one! And with the right outfit XD

More photos with the girls that afternoon.

Thank you loves for the joint celebration! Although we don’t see each other often, our friendships still stay strong all this while. Gosh, we have known each other for more than 10 years! I love you girls. We shall have many more birthday celebrations in the future! xoxo

Leonardo's Dining Room and Wine Loft, Jalan Bangkung

Another overdue post on my simple birthday dinner at Leonardo’s last month. When you’re over 21 birthday is just another day which doesn’t call for much celebration.

Leonardo’s is a non-halal dining room and wine loft located at the quiet neighbourhood of Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar. On the same block itself there are a few other restaurants such as Cavar and Jarod & Rawlins.

There are quite a number of blog reviews on Leonardo’s so I guess the place probably isn’t new for you. Besides their famous pork dishes, there are Asian cuisines available as well: Hokkien Mee, Bak Kut Teh to name a few.

The dining room is on the first floor whereas the wine loft is one floor above. It was our first visit so we almost missed out the signboard as it wasn’t on the ground level.

Complimentary hot bun and water as usual.

Bare brick wall and dim lighting to suit the Renaissance theme.

Reservation is recommended if you’re planning to visit on weekends as the restaurant might not have enough tables to accommodate. You can even check out the menu with the price list on Leonardo’s website.

I had already made up my mind at home on what to order so it didn’t take us too long to decide (unlike other days when we face dilemmas in every other restaurant).

Scallops Wrapped in Bacon – RM32

The taste was alright but I thought the scallop could have been softer.

Spanish Iberico Black Pig Shoulder Loin Steak – RM75

The first bite was great. But later on it just tasted more like pork liver. If you are not a fan of pork liver, opt for other pork dish which doesn’t state that it is cooked to medium.

Grilled Air Flown "1824" Tenderloin – RM75

This did not disappoint. Thumbs up for the sweet and savoury baked potato which we finished in no time.

The best-selling Chocolate Volcano – RM28

The hot and thick chocolate sauce oozing out from the cake! It’s best eaten with the Haagen Dasz vanilla ice-cream that accompanies the cake! We will definitely visit again just for the cake.

Happy birthday to me. This year onwards, revealing my own age is no longer necessary.

Took a quick tour upstairs to the wine loft. Every table was occupied! Even more customers than the dining room yo.

The ceiling is deliberately designed in such a way that you could see the raw material. Unique, old school and less costly. Clever!

Such a shame we left without tasting the wine. Next visit!

Full black OOTN.

Over all it was a satisfactory dining experience :)

Ciccio Pasticcio @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

Celebrated Jess’s birthday last month at Ciccio Pasticcio, a lovely Italian restaurant located at Changkat Bukit Bintang.

Unlike most of the noisy bars at Changkat, Ciccio brings you a more soothing and romantic ambience.

My beloved birthday girl ^^

The dim-lit restaurant makes all my photos turn out ugly. This is the best I could settle for T_T

If you’re up for drinks only, there’s a bar ready to serve you all sorts of alcoholic drinks from their beverage menu.

Photobucket

We had Somersby that night. It was my first time trying Apple Cider and I gotta say I love it! So sweet you wouldn’t even know it contains 4.5% alcohol.

Complementary bread served with olive oil and vinegar.

Photobucket

“Prosciutto” & melone – Italian dried cured beef ham with rock melon (RM36)

I couldn't get enough of those paper-thin ham! The taste is just right. The melon they served was really sweet too.

Photobucket

Spaghetti aglio olio e gamberi - with king prawns, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, rocket salad in white wine sauce (RM42)

Too much sauce for my liking because I usually like my aglio olio pasta dry. But then the sauce tastes good so no complains. They thought the sauce was way too salty though.

Photobucket

Ravioli di carne – chicken and red chicory ravioli with porcini mushroom and truffle oil (RM42)

If you ever order this ravioli, be sure you share it because after half a plate I’m sure you’ll feel sick of it. Not that it’s awful, but having too much of it simply make you jelak.

Photobucket

Rustica Pizza – tomato, mozzarella, porcini mushroom, smoked duck breast, rocket salad, tomino cheese and truffle oil (RM34)

Yummy thin-crusted pizza as expected from an Italian restaurant. Finished it all although we were rather full by then.

The Chiang sisters.

Satisfied with our over all dining experience. Will definitely visit Ciccio again soon! :)
