Christmas Eve

So, on Christmas eve we had been in Utah almost a week and were enjoying our stay at Chris' parent's new house. We enjoyed the day getting ready for the fun Christmas eve we were going to have. The cousins got together and made Christmas craft pictures and I helped Chris' mom get the table ready for dinner complete with cute place tags. Then that afternoon was a blast when Chris, Julia, Jason and I went to the $ store. We got a bunch of hilarious gag gifts to use for a fun exchange that night. We were laughing so hard in the store with the different things we found.

We made it back to wrap up the gifts and get ready for our Christmas eve. We all sat down to dinner, all of Chris' family was there except for Bret and Jeremy and their sweethearts. We had a great dinner and then moved on to the gag gifts. We drew #'s and had to pick gifts. One of the best gifts was the $ sign bling that Grandma got and Nan got a pregnancy test...it was great...other silly gifts were magic tricks, grillz for your teeth, etc. It was a good time. Next the kids opened some games and played while we got ready for the nativity story.

Brooklyn got to be the angel in the Christmas story and Beckham was a shepard and their cousins, Claire and Xander were Mary and Joseph. Greg narrated the story as the kids acted it out. It was very entertaining. As the story got to where the angel appeared to the shepherds in the field...the story goes as follows:

Greg: There is a newborn King born in bethlehem and His name is
Claire: Nana
Brooklyn: No! We will call him Jesus!
Greg: That's right, he will be called Jesus....and the shepherds said how do we get there?
Brooklyn: (remember she is the angel) I will fly there!
Greg: But how do the shepherds find the baby Jesus
Brooklyn: Oh! they follow the star....now I will fly there.....(and she jumped off her chair and flew over to the baby Jesus and Beckham followed her)

It was so cute. We then sang a few songs and then it was time to open the traditional pajamas and take a group picture. We visited and hung out and got ready for Santa to come, Brooklyn put out her cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer, she was pretty excited. It was a nice night.

Christmas at Temple Square

I am finally getting around to writing about our Christmas vacation. After getting to Utah and getting settled in. We were ready to relax for a nearly 3 week break. We did a lot and saw a lot of friends and relatives and it was great. A few of the fun things we did were going to the Spanish Fork Christmas lights. We went with Chris' Grandma Pendleton and Beckham sat on her lap and just oooo and ahhhhed at the lights, Brooklyn thought it was lots of fun as well. We also went to the Salem Pondtown Christmas where they had floating lit up Christmas trees on the pond and all around, it was really cool.

But the best of all had to be going to see the Christmas lights at temple square with our kids. We hadn't been back to see the lights since Brooklyn was 6 months old. It was so fun to be back and go to the JSMB and walk around the temple and see the beautiful display. Chris and I just stood there and couldn't believe we had gotten married there over 5 years ago!

We went in the visitor center because Brooklyn wanted to see the statue of Jesus and she was so excited and you can tell by her picture in the slide show. Beckham was so cute and we would ask him, "Where's Jesus?" and he would point to Him and smile....precious! We got some great pictures and had a nice time even though it was mighty cold!

Afterwards we headed to Denny's with Chris' parents and sister, her husband and baby girl, Mia, who had turned 1 that day. We had a little party for her. Beckham and her cracked everyone up with their baby fighting at the table, it was a fun night.

Let's go sledding!

We made it to Utah and the first day there we decided to try out the sledding hill. Poor Beckham had to wear his cousin, Claire's snowsuit, pink is not his color. We made one run down the hill and he was done...Brooklyn loved it though and had lots of fun going down the steep hill.

Road Trip to Utah

Chris had his last final on Thursday, December 17th, the day of a crazy storm. We had already missed church prior this week because of the slick roads and hadn't gone anywhere in a few days...anyway Chris needed to get to class to take his last final....a storm had blown in that night dumping a lot of snow, which meant no one would be driving and the buses would be having a tough time. He ventured out early and no buses were running at his regular stop so he walked a good mile or so down the big hill to where he could get on a bus and thought it would be smooth sailing....little did he know this was only the beginning of a cold long journey. As the bus tried to go up a ramp to get on the WS bridge, they got stuck for a good while and when they finally got going, they made it downtown, still a few miles from Chris' school at the top of the hill.....a steep hill. So obviously the buses were not going to be running to his school so he had to walk uphill to school in the freezing cold snowy weather and made it just in time for his test....whoooo!!!

Now the sad part is not over yet...he finished the test and headed for his trek back home....so down the hill he went in the snowy cold weather and caught a bus to go back to West Seattle, but they were not running his normal route, they had to take a route that was about below our neighborhood and he would have to walk from as close as he could get. So he got off his bus and headed up the back way to our house up a long hill and finally made it home. When he got there I was ready with some hot cocoa for my hardworking dedicated husband. I felt so bad, I wish I could have went and got him, but there was no way to get out of our neighborhood. Anyway, he made it home and was so ready for vacation. Now the last sad little part to this story is his shoe had ripped from the heel and it was flopping on his foot so he had to take his foot out and put it back in some weird way and walk with his foot half out of the back of his shoe so that it wouldn't fall completely apart....poor guy.

The moral of this story is stay dedicated and work hard and make it to that test so you can have a vacation......then it will pay off when you get the A that he got in that test!!!

So we finished packing ventured out the next day in the crazy weather to go on our Christmas vacation. We were able to make it out of our neighborhood but had to put chains on but luckily we made it over Snoqualmie pass without having to put the chains back on. It was a long trip to Boise, but we made it.

We stayed in this hotel and the kids were so glad to get out of the car, here they are going crazy!

SNOW!!! and a lot of it.....in Seattle???

Yes, you heard correctly, for a place that is only supposed to get a skif of snow a couple times a year, we got a heck of a lot! And I guess they've been getting more since we left for vacation. We had about 8 inches when we left and then another storm blew in (an ice storm) and brought another at least half a foot and they actually called church off, so now we don't feel guilty about skipping church the week before when we couldn't make it.

We took a chance to enjoy it and went out to play. The first night of the snow, we took the kids out to look at Christmas lights in our neighborhood. The kids loved the lights and loved trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Too cute!!

The next day, it was snow packed and really icy on the roads so we couldn't make it to church, so we decided to have a snowball fight. Yes, we did try to go to church though...but you see Seattle shuts down when it snows and there are so many hills that it's not worth wrecking your car to get anywhere.....it's just crazy here. It's funny, if the weather report has snow....schools shut down....easy snow day....we never got snow days in Montana, not even when it was -40 degrees. We maybe got out early if it was snowing and drifting snow. Anyway, enough of that, enjoy the cuteness!

The next day it snowed even more and we played out in the backyard, it was a lot of fun!

Merry Christmas To You!!!!!!!!!

Happy Holidays!!!! We send you our LOVE and wish you much HAPPINESS as we move into another year and remember the BLESSINGS of this past year. Italic

You can click on any picture to view it larger...the family photos were done by A Fresh Take Photography

The Warner's have had one BLESSED year. We are grateful for the GOSPEL and the gift of the SAVIOR, which without, we would never have had our success and much strength throughout this year.

Chris and Melissa celebrated their 5 year wedding anniversary this year and they are still in LOVE. There wasn't a big trip taken or fancy restaurant but.......Chris was given a job at Perkins Coie LLC that day. Who could ask for more than that! Chris has worked so hard and it has really paid off. As we moved into this 3rd and final year of law school, much of the pressure we felt the past two years was gone. Yay for Mr. Smartiepants!!! Chris will graduate this spring of 2009 in the top of his class and then go on to take the bar. We plan on taking a much needed and much deserved vacation/honeymoon afterwards before he starts his job in downtown Seattle next fall.

Chris interned with Perkins Coie this summer before receiving a job offer. They treat their interns very well. Our favorite perk was having car rentals for free all summer and that meant free gas and a car to drive wherever we wanted every weekend. Chris got to see a Mariner game from a private suite, we went sailing, to some fun dinners, and on a great retreat to a brand new resort. It was so much fun. Chris has also had a more relaxed schedule this fall so we were able to see him a lot and the kids and I loved that, so we would go and do some spontaneous fun things now and then, and sometimes he would even skip school.....whoops! He is the best dad and an awesome husband.

Melissa continues to stay crazy busy. Besides being a busy mom of two cute red heads, she still runs warnerportraits.com and she started another business this year, Word Boutique, a vinyl lettering company. She is having a blast with both businesses. She has been learning new techniques with photography that have really enhanced her portrait quality. The vinyl lettering is a lot of fun and she holds monthly craft nights which all of her regulars LOVE! Her business is growing and she is building a website that will be up and running hopefully in the near future, for now she has a blog...... http://www.word-boutique.blogspot.com/ She is also going to update her warnerportraits.com website, it's a bit overdue for new galleries! She loves being creative, trying new things, and loves planning parties for girl's night out. She loves doing fun playdates and parties with the kids and enjoys every stage of their life!

Brooklyn is our sweet heart. She is 3 1/2 and is very imaginative and creative. She draws really well, knows how to write her alphabet and letters....and she has even started to read. She enjoys her alphabet school she goes to once a week, as well as her creative dance class and gymnastics. She is really into High School Musical 3 and loves to sing all the songs and talks about "Troy", her boyfriend and pretends she is Gabriella. She is very smart and loves to play video games on the Wii, she is amazing at what she can do and figure out. She says Beckham is her best friend and they have a lot of fun together...their favorite thing to do is dance to the HSM3 soundtrack and terrorize our bird, Tweety. Brooklyn gets more beautiful everyday with her pretty blue eyes and gorgeous red hair with curls.

Beckham is the family jokster. He is just a crack up, always doing something silly and then makes sure he gets a reaction. He is a sweetie and still a cuddlebug even though the "boy" has come out in him. He loves to cuddle with mommy, but when daddy comes home, it's playtime! He loves to dance with Brooklyn and lights up whenever she comes in the room. He likes to tease her already but mostly just loves to play with her. He loves dinosaurs and loves to "roar" and chase us with his play dinosaurs. He loves animals and is so soft and cute with them. He is a cutie and we love him!

We were able to do so many things this year with family. First, we got to go to Disneyland last January with Grammy Warner, we had a blast and can't wait to go back when Chris finishes the bar. Brooklyn loved it and still talks about seeing Mickey every single day! We went to Durango, CO with Chris' family for a week and it was so much fun. Melissa's brother, Ryan, got married in Glacier Park, Montana and we had a blast, I would recommend destination weddings to anyone! We went to AZ and MT a few times and always had a fun and enjoyable time. We also had visitors here too! We love that, as we get to explore and show the area to those that visit. We have found a lot of fun places with the kids and that has been so fun.

The Gray Family at Ryan and Staci's wedding in Glacier Park

The Warner cousins in Durango, CO
We have really grown to like Seattle and all it has offered us. The Lord truly knows our path better than we do, we had to put our trust in Him to make the move here and it has been incredible for us. We have made many amazing friendships and have been blessed by them. We hope this letter finds you well as we wish you a warm holiday season full of the Christmas spirit and a wonderful New Year.

Love,

The Warner's

Oh so messy but oh so fun!!!

Linus and Janeece came over for a fun night of making graham crackers gingerbread houses. We had a blast! And overall I think more frosting was eaten and all over fingers than on the actual houses.

The funniest thing was that Linus and Brooklyn are both High School Musical fans.....let's not forget Beckham too who has to dance to the soundtrack 5 times a day...and boy he has got some moves....which reminds me I've got some videos to post when I find....time!!! Anyway, there was a knock at the door and I opened it and here is Linus coming right in and saying, "I brought High School Musical candy canes!" Brooklyn who was wearing her High School Musical shirt was totally excited and they both went running into the kitchen ready to open their candy canes and pick out a Troy or a Gabriella...it was great. Then later while we were making the houses, Janeece asked Linus what his favorite HSM song was and he just started singing, "16, 16, 16 more minutes get ready game on!!!" Well, Brooklyn chimed in on the singing and Beckham started dancing....you really had to be here to see it but it was so funny, never a dull moment when you're talking HSM! Ha!

Anyway, here are the messy houses with their proud creators.

Love it!!!
She did really good with the frosting decorator
My skinny little man with his chubby legs....love it! yeah, he was a mess! oh well.
working hard and eating lots of candy!
The finished products!!! and happy hyper kids!

Pancake Dinner with Santa!!!

So my friend Kim and I decided that it would be fun to have a primary activity for the kids at church with Santa. We came up with the idea of doing Santa Pancakes. We had the kids come and color nativity pages and then they all gathered around the table to make a Santa pancake by using squirt whip cream for the beard and hat, strawberry syrup for the hat, banana/chocolate chip eyes, and m&m noses. The kids had a blast, Brooklyn and Beckham liked the whip cream the most. Then "Here comes Santa Claus" started playing and Santa came to visit the kids. They all gathered around him and sat and listened to him tell the Nativity Story. The kids all listened so well, Brooklyn was so excited. She loves any character that is dressed up, they are so real to her...it's cute! When Santa came in, she just got these huge eyes and said "mommy, he's here, it's Santa!"......Cute!

After the story each kid was able to sit on Santa's lap for a picture, to get a candy cane and to ask for what they wanted. I took the pictures of course. Brooklyn was so excited for her turn and it was cute because Santa knew her name. She went right up and sat on his lap and talked to him. She told him she wanted a pink butterfly dancing dog (an idog) and it was so cute because Santa repeated exactly what she said and got excited and said, "that sounds so fun, if you are a good girl, that's what I'll bring you." She said OK! and she took her picture and then came and stood by me the rest of the time so she could just watch him and she would wave and smile at him anytime she wanted, it was cute.

Now Beckham was a different story....he's been really clingy lately so when I took him over to Santa, he freaked, you can tell by the pictures. But Brooklyn was cute and was trying to tell him it was ok, it was Santa and he is nice. But he wouldn't go for it. So later we lured him over with a candy cane and got a few shots.

When everyone was done getting their picture taken, they all sang Jingle Bells with Santa before he left.....and Brooklyn wanted to go with him in the sleigh. She had also been confused earlier and was hoping that when she asked Santa for her dancing dog that he was going to just get his bag and pull one out for her....so I had to explain that the elves were going to make one for her in Santa's workshop and that she would get it on Christmas morning....but then she said but it's Christmas now! It's Christmas everywhere everyday! (because of the decorations) it was cute.

Then later, she very matter of fact told Chris and I that Christmas wasn't about presents, it was about Jesus being born....it was so funny and sweet.

While Santa photos were going on, the kids also made jingle bells and a really cute ornament. It was a really fun night and the kids loved it!

That night in her prayers, she said "Thank you for letting me see Santa and that he is getting me my dancing dog." What a sweet girl!

Pancake Dinner with Santa!

Our sneaky 3 year old

So I think we just thought we could trust Brooklyn and that she wouldn't have any clue to look for Christmas presents. She was confused when we brought home one of Beckham's presents and then didn't let him play with it. Well, we started hiding the presents, wrapped and unwrapped, behind the curtains in our room. Brooklyn must have caught a glimpse of them and wanted to check them out. We had put the kids to bed and we were just watching TV downstairs when I went up to get something.....and saw Brooklyn sneaking in our room and had opened a present and had found a sticker book and was putting stickers all over....it was so funny because she saw me and then threw the book down and said "I'm going to bed" and ran down the hall to her room. Little stinker! Luckily the sticker book was just a little present for the car trip to Utah so it wasn't a big gift or anything but it was still supposed to be a surprise. She did open one present and was trying to check it out when I caught her but I don't think she knew what it was. She also saw Beckham's motorcycle rocker and keeps asking when we are going to play with it. And she thought she was getting a spiderman idog but that is Beckham's too....we knew they would fight over them so we are getting each of them one. They both love music and love to dance, especially to High School Musical. Anyway, we had to have a little talk with her and tell her not to open the presents and so she told her dad when she went to bed a couple nights later that Jesus says don't go see the presents, stay in bed, Ha!!!

Thanksgiving Weekend!

So we had a fabulous weekend! It was great because Laini came to visit, wohooo!, Chris had four days off of school!, and we got to eat yummy food! I picked Laini up bright and early at 7am Thanksgiving morning. I showed her the view of downtown Seattle and we went home to wake up the kids. Laini whispered in Brooklyn's ear and she opened her eyes and smiled and said, "Hi Laini!" Then Beckham woke up and Laini went in to get him and he held his arms out and then when he realized it wasn't me he took a double take, it was funny. We went downstairs and as always, Laini cannot wait for anyone to open presents at Christmas time and since she wasn't seeing the kids at Christmas, she had them open her presents. They were a hit! The kids got a play dough ice cream sundae factory, it's so cute and they played with it all weekend. Beckham got m&m dispensers and loved them....he's an m&m junky! Brooklyn also got some fun Hello Kitty stuff.

We spent the rest of the morning, having breakfast, watching the parade, looking through ads and hanging out. We saw some good deals at Big Lots!...Laini's favorite store so we HAD to go. It was fun and we found some fun stuff. Then when we got back we started cooking. Brooklyn and Chris made the turkey and Laini and I made maple sausage and apple stuffing, loaded mashed potato casserole, corn on the cob, spinach and artichoke dip, grandma's homemade noodles, and pumpkin cream pie.

We had a turkey coloring contest and Laini won and we played pin the hat on the turkey...Brooklyn and Beckham won. We ate our yummy dinner and had a fun evening going down to the waterfront showing Laini the city lights.

Early Friday morning Beckham woke up at 5am crying and I took my time getting him....well Laini beat me to it and he was hugging her when I went in to get him. I told her that I would take him and started to take him and he pulled away from me and hugged her even tighter....it was so sweet. She went and laid down with him and he cuddled and slept by her for another hour! Cute! That was sweet because Chris and I got to go to the good sales at 6am! Wohoo, yay for a babysitter!

Later Friday morning we headed up to the mountains and took Laini to Snoquamie Falls. Then we took her to some neighborhoods where we want to buy a house....we ended up looking at some model homes and they were AMAZING!!! It was so much fun. We came home and made a gingerbread house and gingerbread men. The kids really got into it and we had a blast. They were good little decorators. And they ate a lot of candy! Beckham was hilarious he was making the little men dance, it was cute.

Saturday, we showed Laini the sites of Seattle. We started with Pioneer Square and then to the main downtown area where we went to a hotel that had a gingerbread house display. The theme was superheroes, they were really cool. Brooklyn loved it because they had Batman, Superman and the Ninja Turtles. From there we headed to Pike's Market to see them throw the fish and then went to the Pacific Science Center to see the dinosaurs, bugs and the butterflies....and to the the space needle of course.

Sunday was spent relaxing, driving around, going to the park, church and eating leftovers.....we had a great time! The kids had a blast with Aunt Laini, they had a lot of fun playing with her, especially the dance parties. We miss you Laini!

Thanksgiving Fun!

Gingerbread Houses

These are the gingerbread houses that were on display. The theme was all superheroes. Aren't they awesome?!
Everyday Heroes

Batman in Santa's sleigh

A collection of comic book heroes

The Ninja Turtles...or as Brooklyn calls them the enjen turtles

Batman

Brooklyn was also excited to see Mario

We decided we are going to start a tradition of making gingerbread houses on Thanksgiving weekend, these houses gave us the idea to have fun and make some crazy ones! I think it will be fun.
