My man Gadget just dropped this collection of self produced head nod fodder. The man from Millenium Jazz ropes in a few of his usual collaborators such as Louis Unseen, Jabba tha Kut, EdXL, Emma Louise and Dan Bull as well as Beit Nun, 777, Joey Gzus and many others. Gadgets displays a range of styles but never strays too far from his typical jazz infleunced, dusty steeze being a MPC head you know hes got that classic boom bap edge to his production. Thats how its goin down, Sinners, Its not a good look and Light years stood out on my first listen. The project is well worth the £5 thisll set you back. Gadget (or here), the man of many talents, comes through in his DaWordsmith guise and drops this little gem: 'War Stories (A Story To Tell pt2)'. If you're not familiar with his work then get to know, he's part of the Millennium Jazz Music clique who provide really dope, positive Hip Hop to a scene that really needs just that.

He's also hooked up with B'ham's TLG and Kelkovski on 'One Life'.

Sandpeople, out of the US, Portland to be precise, have jumped on El Michels Affair's version of 'Can It All Be So Simple?' to create what effectively is a Hip Hop cover version. They take cues from the original lyrics and bring their own, more laid back vibes to the Wu-Tang classic. New classic.

Also from the US, but over a UK beat is $amhill's 'Twisted Emotions' produced by The P Brothers.

'Just Above The Blues' - Millennium Jazz Music (free download)

‘Just Above The Blues’ comes from thinking people’s UK Hip Hop outfit Millennium Jazz Music. Setting the context is ‘Prevention Enforcement & Punishment’ featuring a Gordon Brown speech about knife crime prevention over a melancholy beat.

‘Death Pours’ mourns the constant cycle of youths turning to crime only for it to end in fatality. The rest of the EP continues on a similar theme and ‘Idle Minds’, instead of talking of the problem, provides a solution by way of advice.

With a positive and realistic message I whole heartedly support what Gadget, J-LeeN, MSJ, Klarity, Ama, KyraUK and Serocee are trying to do in our scene.

Organix Part 8 - 'Freespit'

Probably my favourite episode of Organix so far with a really bouncy beat from Pro P and verses from 16 MCs - 777, Diligent Fingers, Ed-Xl, Gadget, Terawrizt, Dweller, Milc, Inferno, Evil Eyez, Mal, Trick, Day Two, Arfa Tunn, Stiks, DFG & Baron Samedi. Is it me or is there some beef going on with 777 and Pez who previously featured side by side on Organix projects?

'Something For The Strive' - ReggiiMental (free download)

Allow me to recommend to you a free download - I know I do that a lot but I just thought I'd come polite. Certified Banger favourite Reggiimental has dropped a little freebie - well, not that little actually - this is a vast body of work.

It kicks off with the funky freshness of the 4th Front remix of 'Grimy Ill' - defo a good way to set things off. Things get a little more meloncholy for a few tracks before getting a bit Wu-ish on 'Study Of Business' (another 4th Front remix). 'Coolin'' featuring SonnyJim is really mellow but in a big way - it's like the chill out room in a club. Y'already know the track 'Get Away' from 'On The Radar Vol. 4' and it sounds just as good here. Reggii also has a go at Baby J's 'I'll Be Surprised' and 'Young, Gifted and Black' and things get beautiful with Kelakovski's beat on 'Thoughts'. Things continue with Reggiimental rocking over a variety of vibes - there's something for every mood here - a really great mixtape.

The mixtape features loads of his fellow Midlanders including Unfriendly Neighbours, T.L.G, Ras Supa, Gadget, Devas, Percy Filth and R2ThaBeats.

Organix #4: Punchlines

'The Most High EP' - ROTLA (free download)

Some real chilled out and super-positive UK Hip Hop here for you folks. Raiders of the Lost Arts (ROTLA) and it featurs vocals from LeeN (NLT Productions), Gadget (Millenium Jazz Music), Kyra UK, US MC Klarity and B-Val. All the beats are by B-Val and LeeN.

It features four tracks of high quality, laid back rap with some good messages (if you take time to listen properly) and apparently they'll be putting out one of these every week or two which is even better. More of this can't be bad.
