Gardening and Research...

I spent the morning doing garden things.  I took all of the plants that I had in the watering trough out of the watering trough.

I am going to put a lot of things like basil, cilantro and other cooking ingredients in it this year.  I was time to get things going.

I planted the things that were growing in the trough other places in the garden or in pots.

I trimmed two of the three honeysuckle plants by the wall so that they won't hang over into the neighbor's yard. One more to go.  I had to wait until the garbage truck comes to take the old branches away, before I could put any more in the garbage bin.

So, on to other things.
I have ben contemplating doing something Korean.  A room box or a small house... So...

I have been collecting Korean art, architecture, accessories, ceramics and clothing.
The screen shots are hard to see, but you can enlarge by clicking on the photos.

In order to get things right in even a room box, it takes a lot of time before I even start...
If you want to do more than look at the home page, you have to be a member of Pinterest.

It is a big timewaster, but a lot of fun.  Here's the URL. Walter finally found it.
https://www.pinterest.com/caseymini1/

Anyway, I have lots of minis, ideas for minis and other sections to look at if you can find it.

Back to the searching fun.  See you tomorrow.

Tessie's Cactus Collection...

I no longer have a cacti and succulent collection.  This afternoon, Tessie helped me start gathering the information on all of the plants that I have on the back porch and in the yard... Then she announced... "If I have to do all of this work, I should have custody of all of the plants that I list.

She seems to think that she has listed every plant on the porch... Interesting. I have not even gotten all of them listed yet.

Why am I doing this?

All of the plants that I have in the collection are things that are of interest to me.  I came home after buying most of them and looked them up on the net.
That is an easy way to find out how to take care of them.  I keep collecting photos and information on my Pinterest site in "Succulents and Cactus".

That way if something goes wrong, I can find out, pretty fast, what to do to make them get healthy again.
I am always amazed at how much you can find out about anything that you want to know just by putting a couple of words in the search box on Pinterest.

I am writing things down the old fashioned way, but I may just have to do it on the iPad.

Tessie is holding on to about 10 pages of the notebook that are filled with names of the things in the pots on the back porch... She did NOT write them down.  I did... Therefore I think that the plants are still mine.  She will tell you a different story.  Please don't listen to her.

Anyway, I had a doctor's appointment this morning.  Nothing wrong.  Just routine. So I decided to do something fun, just for me.  I fed the birds and squirrels.  Then I sat back and watched.  We have three new baby squirrels.  Walter called me out to the kitchen window to watch. Momma was teaching them to chew on the bird  block this afternoon.  Very cute!

So I didn't really accomplish anything mini, but then, neither did Tessie! So she can't hassle me about not doing any minis.

The wind seems to be calming down a bit.  Maybe I can do some more re-potting.

See you tomorrow.

Cleaning Should Be Banned!

Every time I go into the workroom to find something, I feel guilty and start cleaning... I should never be allowed to start cleaning!

When I do, I always find something that causes me to get distracted...

This morning It was beads... Or I should say cabochons.

I decided that it would be a good idea to clean out a couple of the jewelry boxes while I was in there.

I was looking at jewelry on Pinterest while eating breakfast and drinking my coffee... That's another thing that I should not do... No Pinterest with breakfast!

Walter leaves for golf and I sit down and start Pinterest-ing... Bad!!!

I get in the most trouble when I start looking at bead work and jewelry...

One of the things in there reminded me of a couple of things that I had that were almost finished...

That suggests to me that I should look for the pieces and try to finish them...

For example, this piece needs to be cut off of the backing and beaded around the edge and it will be a nice pendant or a pin.

We won't talk about the above tray full of stones that need to be finished... Nope.  Not talking about those at all!

I also found a BIG piece of pleated Shibori silk that I bought at a mini show a few years ago.  I thought that it would make interesting mini clothing...

Unfortunately, this is the first time that Tessie has been in the room when I have had it out...

I have been seeing beadwork on Pinterest with Shibori silk mixed in.  Very pretty.  And I even have stones that will go with it...

I also have Tessie egging me on...  Not a good combination.

Somebody please stop me!  I need to work on minis.  No more beading... Well maybe I will just finish the one that is almost done... Then back to Pinterest.

See you tomorrow!

Short Time... And Counting...

This is not the time of year to be wandering around in the Pinterest world... But I seem to do it whenever I get near the I pad.

This is the biggest time waster in the world, but It is so full of ideas!

Every time someone pulls something from my collection, I have to go see what else we have in common.

It is amazing that people all over the world are doing this and so many have common interests.  I have to stop doing it for a while or I am never going to be ready for Christmas when it gets here!

I went out and did a bit of shopping this morning... Tessie likes the bowls that I purchased.  I didn't have the heart to tell her that they weren't for her... I can't tell you either.  The recipient might see what I write...
I did let her help with some of the gift wrapping. That usually keeps her out of mischief.  She gets tangled up in scotch tape. Sometimes I leave her there for a while.  It keeps her occupied and I manage to get a few other things done.

Sorry for the lack of minis today... I just don't have time.  I have to go make some cookies now.  I never did get to them yesterday... So many things to get ready.  So little time left to do it!  I have to get back at it.

See you tomorrow.

Much Too Nice to Stay Inside!

Yesterday, I did start one of the purses.  I still have to stain the handle bars, but I have it half crocheted already and have found some leather to use for bottom corners, fasteners and handles.

I think that the leather will be more practical than crochet for handles and such.

Tessie is trying to commander the body of the purse for a sleeping bag... Not going to happen!
This morning I decided that it was much too nice to stay inside.

I did a couple of trays of starter plants for new succulents.   Don't ask the names.  I can't remember and they long ago lost the tags that they came with.

All I know is... If you stick them in dirt with a little rooting hormone powder, they will sprout!

Evidence of this is in a lot of my pots... Pay no attention to the peanut shells that you see here and there.  The squirrels have their own program going... However, theirs won't work.  The peanuts were roasted.

The Baked Bean Sedum in this pot just naturally spreads by putting out roots on it's stems.  I don't have to do anything at all, but cut them off and shove them in some dirt.

I learned that part from Walter's dad.  He had the stuff growing all over his yard.

Again, I don't remember the name of this one, but if the larger leaves fall off or are cut and lay in the dirt, they will form the cute little plants that you see on the cut end of the two leaves to the left.

This is why I like succulents.  Easy to grow and very hard to kill!

I will probably take a couple more leaves off of the big piece and shove the remainder into a pot.  That also will grow a new plant.
This is the other dish that I potted.  Various kinds of succulents.  Some I even found on the floor of the porch.  They will grow.  Very hardy.

Now that it is warming up outside, I am coming indoors to start mini work  and/or crocheting the purse again.  I am thinking minis first and then as a reward, crochet.  That way I will get more of the cottage finished.

I am getting the urge to start something new!  I have still not figured out how to get the photos of the house onto my Pinterest site.  I have tried several times to no avail. I am now wondering if the one time that I tried and gave up and erased everything did something to block it.  Oh well... I tried.

See you tomorrow.

Still Icky but Having a little fun... With your help.

Can someone tell me how to direct people to my new Pinterest site?  I started a Pinterest site a couple of weeks ago, but I can't figure out how to direct people to the site.

Does anybody know how to do it?  HELP!

It's something that I can do whilst laying around, feeling lousy.

I have found some really neat things that I would like to share, but I don't know how to get you there.

I am still not having a lot of fun, but want to keep you entertained.  If any of you know how to do this, I would appreciate the help.  Thanks.

I know this isn't much of an entry, but I am still trying.

See you tomorrow.

I Didn't Do It!!!!!

I woke up in the middle of the night, last night.  I kept hearing clicking and sliding noises.

There was a dim light coming from doorway.

I got up and went to look.

As I suspected... Tessie has been using my iPad at night.  She didn't even bother to close the bedroom door this time... Big mistake!

I yawned a lot and went back to bed...

When I got up this morning, there were still clicking noises coming through the door.

I went out to check and that was when the fight started.

For years, I have resisted Pinterest! That is, starting to collect photos in an account on there...

Tessie stopped resisting last night...

Her excuse?  She couldn't sleep.  Needed something to do.

But did she have to do it with my name?  She said yes!  She couldn't get it to work with just her name...

Unfortunately, she knows all of the tricks and the iPad is easy for her to use.

I am now the proud owner of caseymini1, with 8 or 9 categories and 208 pins... I tell you! I didn't do it!  It was Tessie!

The first thing that she did was collect all of the photos on Pinterest that have been pinned from my blog.

Then she went on to collect photos of faerie gardens... She wants one of those for herself.  She explained that witches are allowed to have their own gardens too!  Then she went too far.  She asked, "Could you make me a pair of wings?"

She went on to collect lots of dollhouses that suited her fancy.

And just for me, she collected a lot of Cartonnage, some beautiful needlework, photos of antique needlework tools, and needlework patterns.  I think that's about all.  I will have to go look at the page again...

It's scary to think what she can do when she puts her mind to it... Remind me to lock the iPad up before I go to bed tonight!

I am going now to see what other damage she did... Right after I lock her in the workroom.

I am not exactly sure how you collect pins from blogs or maybe I would add a few from the HBS build.  I noticed that she started one for that, but it only has one photo.

Back to the real world.

See you tomorrow.
