Carrara's Christmas

Carrara was very excited this Christmas.

She woke up earlier than any Christmas before (6:30) and

was extremely enamoured with Santa's generosity.

Here she plays with her Eco Doll House (which features a variety

of Eco Friendly household designs, not to mention that it is made

with environmentally friendly/recycled materials).

Adjusting the wind power generator.

On to Santa's other big gift, a Nintendo DSiXL.

She made "Empire Biscuit", a Scottish jam filled shortbread cookie.

Elves Collecting For Christmas Baskets

Carrara and friends on their last day of swimming lessons.

Fairy Findings

The Prep One students put on their detective caps and took out their binoculars in a hike around the school yard this week. They used their detective skills to find signs of animals preparing for winter. They discovered a nut wedged in a tree, skin of walnuts on a log and around the base of trees and even a hole at the bottom of a tree trunk.

Five Fearless Leaf Throwers

The Prep Ones had an opportunity to play in the leaves this week and plant milkweed seeds during their weekly hike around the school grounds. During this time the class explores the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the nature around us. There is nothing better than the sound of crisp fall leaves being crushed underfoot and the sound of children laughing as they throw leaves in the air.

Banana Schmeel

Carrara went to see the Cirque du Soleil vaudeville inspired show, Banana Schmeel. Her favourite joke:

Clown #1 (after getting his clothes caught on a microphone stand extending up a couple of feet): Will you help me get down from here!

Clown #2: I can't. I'm not in the union!

For some reason, this joke cracks Carrara up so much. She repeats it all the time. "That's so funny, isn't it D?"

Carrara sets Mommy Straight

I was joking with Carrara and said, "You are sooo crazy!"

Carrara does not laugh and then clearly states, " I am not crazy. I am smart and creative. I am not crazy."

Then I say, "You have a great sense of humour." Then Carrara laughs.

She Blinded Me With Science

Carrara follows in the footsteps of her "D",

who played Magnet P.I. on Science Day in the B. Ed. program.

She explained all about the properties of magnets.

Ask her to tell you/demonstrate for you the actions of

repelling and attracting.

Dyment Farms

This week, Carrara's class enjoyed a “fall-filled” day at Dyment’s Farm. They rode a wagon on the edge of the escarpment which overlooked the city of Hamilton, picked pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, visited with the farm animals and learned all about farm life. One of the highlights was the “Spooky House.” The children loved it enough to go through two and three times!

Carrara finishes reading another Chapter Book

Last night Carrara finished reading Sadie the Saxophone Fairy. Tonight she will start Trixie the Halloween Fairy. These books are part of the series Rainbow Magic.
