Caucusing

First, thanks for all your prayers and good wishes about
Lilly Ann.  She will be 10 this July, and we have had her since a
small puppy.  She was feral, she, her mom and her sister
were all captured and brought to the Leavenworth Animal Shelter,
from where we adopted her.

We can tell her eye hurts, she has been rubbing it.  We are
putting drops in twice a day.  I did not take pictures, but
we walked today, and enjoyed it, though she rested as soon
as we got home.

No limping, just slow walking.

So, Thursday, Friend Jill and I had lunch, and
took our cameras to take pictures.  (She was off work).
We tried one big park, but could not really find anything to
focus on, so decided to hop on the highway and go
back to the park where I have been going.

I played around a lot, and we saw the
eagle in the distance, but he stayed in the distance.

I have been trying to get pictures of kildeer, this is as close as I could get!

I'll try again next week.

Since it's mating season, there is still a lot of shrieking going on.

Out of about 100 pictures taken, I kept about ten.
I am learning, though... I am learning what lighting to use and what not to use, so this is helpful.

I got a few good ones.

Yesterday morning, I went as I dropped Lilly off, to see how the light was.

Yes, the gulls were present.  I went on home after 20 minutes or so.

Since we moved here two years ago, I have had no curtains.  I do not like just
blinds on the windows, especially when they are the old white wide blinds.  (Saving for shades).
I am a dufus, too, when it comes to hanging rods.
So, my sister in law came over yesterday and I would say helped me, but
she did most of the work, and was very painstaking.

I don't know if the tropical curtains will always be there BUT...
I am so glad to see them.

Thank you, Mary Beth.

This morning in the sun:

Oh, yes.

So happy.

Guess where I went today?

I do not talk politics on this blog, ever.  I don't think it has a place.

However...I think it's important that we are aware of our responsibilities as
citizens.

Yes, I voted in the Republican Caucus, and not for the Donald, I will go so far as to say that.

It was thrilling to see the process at work, and I am thankful to all the volunteers who handled the crowds today.  From seeing the news, Leavenworth was not the only place that had good crowds.
Way to go, fellow Americans!

Dust, everywhere.

We need rain.

The little pond on the way to church this afternoon... mass starts at 4.

The Archbishop surprised us with a visit.

So glad I was in jeans.

(smile)

Everyone have a safe Saturday night, and wonderful Sunday.

Lots of Pictures Today

Well, we went from low forties and hard blowing wind from the north yesterday,
to low sixties and wind from the south today!

I froze yesterday with no gloves or scarf, and today, wore a light
jacket!

Jester went from the bed to the couch this morning, since it was so chilly.
Some days, he does not like to run right out and do his business!

I posted a picture on Facebook this morning of a begonia that I have that is
blooming.

This is not it.
This is the one I should have posted!

I am still practicing macro shooting... I love the edges of the leaves in this picture.
If you biggify it (click on it), you can see it in detail.

Our big girl is going to the vet on Friday for some minor surgery, and some procedures that
are done best with her sedated.  Her nails are terribly long, and that in itself may be
causing part of her limping.  She is going to have the tumor you see on her eye... again, biggify to see it clearly... removed... her teeth checked, her anal glands checked and expressed, if need be, and
possibly another back xray. She is getting Quellin daily (carprofan) and it is helping.
I usually give it to her just after we come home from walking, and it carries her through to the next day.

I look for this hawk daily as we go back and forth to the park.

We had the park to ourselves today.  You see, all winter, we were alone... though we sometimes saw a man who walked alone... and a lady who walked her dogs.
In the last week, there has been a crowd.  There was a dad and a little child there when we got there, but they left within five minutes.
Just as we got back into the car, a couple came to walk.

It is so much easier on me, when I don't have to worry about Lilly getting upset with
one of the dogs.

After I brought the dogs home, and despite the wind, I decided to
drive over to the lake, since I had to go out to get something for dinner anyway.

I saw a couple of funny things happen.

There were a few geese laying with some gulls at the water's edge, and I sat on a bench
about 20 feet away.  Pretty soon, several geese flew in from the shore on the right.

Can you see his mouth?  I say his, because this was a gander for sure.

He meant business.

This was his target, this pair.
I have NO idea why, but he went at them with a vengeance.
Most of the gulls took off.

The target wasn't taking any sass.

Neither was his mate.

Here he came.

A sparring match ensued.

Until finally, the attacking gander drove everyone else off.

Meanwhile, behind me...

Another mated pair barely stirred!

I have a series of a gull taking a crawdad... but I've overloaded you for the night.

No sign of the eagle.

I hope to go out again tomorrow afternoon.

The Computer and the Eagle

The big computer has been at the fixit place since Monday. having some
things put back on it.
I thought it would be ready today, so waited to do a
post.

I gave up and am struggling with seeing the small screen and close
keyboard of the laptop. NOT complaining!

I have pictures to share.

I had lunch with a close cousin yesterday, and then, even though it was cloudy,
I decided to run to Wyandotte County Lake before going home.

Look what I saw coming towards me across the lake!

A juvenile eagle!

I was actually watching gulls diving on the choppy waters of the lake, and trying to get
pictures of the diving ducks behind them.

I may run over again tomorrow.

The wind was so strong, the birds were hovering.

The smart ones were on terra firma.

I only stayed about 20 minutes because of the
sharp wind.

As I was leaving, here he came again...I jumped out of the car.

He was majestic.

I didn't forget our old friends.

Praying the computer is back soon.
