My Issues with Other People about Dating

My issues with other people usually center around them giving unsolicited advice or opinions.

You grow up being taught to do what's right. To include The Lord in your decisions. To trust in your heart. To never settle or back down from what you know is right.

And then there is a switch that is flipped when you turn a certain age.

Suddenly "you need to give him a chance" and "he just needs a good girl to motivate him."

And if I don't buy it. Now I'm "picky."

To all those people I say who asked you!

Untitled

There is that time in your life that you look back and think "how did I get here?" It is at that moment you cannot deny the pure fact that there is a God and that He cares for you. It is by the grace of God that you suddenly have any place in this world.

This grace was not given to you solely by miraculous acts of God, though these events did happen on occasion. No. This grace was given piece by piece by the people around you.

I send this post into the abyss of the Internet to say thank you. Thank you to every friend who watched me fail and succeed, who saw things in me that I still don't see in myself. To every family member who showed me love and walked me through experiencing heartache. To every stranger whose example taught me pure charity and the harshness of this world. Again. Thank you for it all. The good and the bad. Thank you.

Most of all I thank God. I thank Him for giving me eyes to see.

One Amazing Weekend

And it couldn't have come at a better time.

I went home to Malad this last weekend. My nephews were doing the muttin' bustin' at the rodeo on Friday.

They did great. A face full of dirt, a few bumps and bruises and two exhausted kiddos.

Then on Saturday after getting "gently" woken up by the cutest 5 year old that existed I took a leisurely walk on the farm. I forgot how much (and maybe didn't realize before) I love the farm life. The smells, the simplicity, the pure hard work. Maybe that is why I feel so anxious here in Utah county.

The rest of the day was full of trips to the hardware store to get parts to fix the tractor, watching my brother and uncle work, riding horses, riding four wheelers, and remembering what's important.

Saturday was also my sister-in-law's birthday so I volunteered to watch the kids so they could go to dinner. So my weekend ended with me bonding with this little doll.

Solution to my problem - get back to my roots.

It's a date...

I don't know what's more sad.

- The fact that I took myself on a date.

or...

- That it was the best date I've had all year.
