Sadly, summer va-cay is almost nothing more than a memory. What happened to three solid months off of school? We've spent the WHOLE summer in the water, be it Grammy's pool or the lake. When it's triple digits outside, there's really no other choice. Some people dread summer for that reason but I always enjoy it. We spend as much time outside (in the water) as we do in the winter.
We had another stellar year of Kino Swim Team and Grammy's Swim Team. Everyone had a great time, learned a lot and got a killer tan. My big girls scored some lovely ribbons at their meets. Jane morphed into an independent little mermaid. Jacob stopped crying in the pool and has mastered the belly-flop with style. And I bought a record number of swimsuits. Unbelievably, this is the only picture I got of our swimmers all season.
We also spent a lot of time at the lake. The kids are all at the perfect age to ride on the boat and try new things. Jacob and Jane prefer sitting on the boat and drinking Capri Suns but the big girls both learned how to knee board. Sage even got up on the kiddie wake board. I was so proud of her!
Jane did not enjoy this rite of passage as much as the rest of of us did. Isn't this a classic picture?
Doesn't she look much happier here on the boat?
See Sage, Faith, Berkely and Eliza towing the boat away from the rocks? This was after they swam their manifold burritos to shore for a picnic dinner. Engine cooked burritos are Millett family tradition.
We've also hit the lake with our kayak - and again - this is the only picture. It's a fun little watercraft. And this is what happens after a long day at the lake.
Next up on the blog, more water. Except now we'll be at the ocean.
