The start of a new family tradition

A while ago Dan told Kassidee that he would take her camping in the back yard. She was so excited about the thought of that. Well she asked me about it again this week and I told her, well what about this weekend? Of course she jumped up and down with excitement. When Dan got home and heard of our plans he told me that it was a great idea, but would need to do it Thursday night, because he worked friday night. Kassidee was of course ok with that. So after school that all she talked about was when she could go set up the tent. Dan ''finally'' got home from work and set out to please. (good thing too, because its raining this friday evening) Anyway, Dan thought that we should start a new family tradition and go camping whether it be in the back yard or somewhere up a canyon. We will go the week-end that the kids start school. I agreed, and it was settled. Something, one last thing to look forward to even after school has started. .....One day we will have one of those cool fire pits to roast marshmallows in the backyard.

Kassidee wanted me to take a picture of her and Dan pretending that they were sleeping, but Aubrey soon put an end to that :)
....in she climbs.... giggling
Stories, GO Fish, Popcorn, & Treats..... what could be better than that!

Back to pre-school

Well the first day back was a success. Kassidee likes her new teacher and her school. She got a stamp on her hand for saying the Pledge of Allegiance and 2 M&M's she said because her class was good. :) Last year she learned how to write her name. This year they will be teaching her how to read. She will enjoy it, because she loves reading books.
We Started the morning off with blueberry pancakes, eggs and fresh pears. Along with a fathers blessing and off to school. She was set.

This is what she picked out of her closet to wear for the first day. I think she would wear a dress every day if it were up to her :)

What we did this summer

I have officially posted our whole summer vacation. (minus our trip to the zoo, our hike to Timp. Caves and 2 family reunions, because my camera was in the shop) :(... I wanted to get it all up before the school year started. Kassidee starts school tomorrow! Her last year of pre-school. I am hoping unlike every other year that this one just takes its time. All of Kassidee's friends in the neighborhood are going to kindergarten this year. Lucky for me Kassidees birthday is in November. Anywho... stay a while and check out our summer season. We had a great one. We kicked it off with our Florida trip to the beach and the Magic Kingdom and ended it with a soon to come post of our last camp out. Kassidee is so excited for that.

Kassidee

Well, she is working on it. Besides playing at the park when we are home Kassidee is getting better and better on her little 3 wheeler. The church parking lot is pretty much the best place to let her ride around for all that fun practice time. ...Flat, No cars and big enough to ride all over. Go Kassidee!

Aubrey

What can I say this girl loves the bath! There were so many bubbles! Every time she would slap the water with her hands bubbles would splash right up in her face and then she would just start laughing. What a whoot!

Summer at the cabin

Dan and I spent the weekend at the cabin with Kassidees Friend Livy and Dans sister and her family. It was such great weather. Not hot and perfect sweater weather for August. We had a great time BBQing, boating, 4-wheeling, taking walks with the girls where they loaded their pockets with rocks to throw in the lake and pretty little flowers that were growing wild everywhere you looked. What fun!

Kassidee and Livy had a great time on the cabin's swing (there is a Little movie clip after the pictures) ;)

I couldn't pass up a photo op. with all the beautiful flowers. There's my girls!

These little best friends. Giggly & inseparable when together!

FUN on the 4-wheelers!
Aubrey in her helmet. Ha! its bigger than her.

Livy fell right to sleep on the ride

Swinging

This is Kassidee and Her friend Livy at the cabin in the swing put to music. I enjoy making these little videos, so here is anotherone!

This is the place

On August 4th I met up with some of my old college roommates Natalie and Laura and their children and headed to This is the Place, Heritage Park. Unfortunately we forgot to get a group picture, but we will just have to get together again to get it! It was pretty fun though. I had never been there before. From the bottom of the hill where you can see only the monument, its surprising to actually find out what is actually all up there. It reminded me of a miniature Nauvoo. With a train. The kids had fun though. There are a bunch of things for kids to do such as look for gold in the stream to turn it in at the bank for a piece of candy, I mentioned the train. What kid doesn't like to ride on a train. A play area with miniature houses. Pony rides, a petting area with sheep and goats. There are pioneer houses to tour, Crafts, pioneer chores and games that the kiddies can learn as well. Just bring good walking shoes.
The train ride through town
This is the school house. Kassidee wrote her own name on her slate.

The pioneers had their own alphabet that were symbols for sounds so that everyone could understand the same language even if they didn't speak english. This is Naomi and below her name is how they would have wrote her name if she were a pioneer in those days.
This would have been Kassidee's name
Laura and her boys at the leather imprint. This is where you can hammer an image into leather. The Nail had a metal image at one end. There were butterflys, smily faces, baloons, and so on.

This is Kassidee making her own candle. This was probably her favorite activity.
