Weekend Shenanigans: Back Where I Come From

Hey y'all!
Well here we are on Monday again and (again) I am surprisingly happy about after coming off another great weekend! I am excited to tell y'all all about it.

Friday night Paul, Cody, Lauren and I decided to go to the drag strip in Commerce. Lauren and I really didn't want to go but decided to anyway, big mistake. We get out there, pay, walk in and before we even get to the stands it starts pouring. So we hid out under the concession stands for a few minutes hoping it would clear up. No such luck. After about 20 minutes of getting soaked they came over the loud speaker and announced that there was no way they would get the track dry enough to race so everything was cancelled! So we took our cold, freezing, annoyed butts to Cracker Barrel and called it a night. They gave us a rain check but I think me and Lauren will just let the boys go on their own next time!
sums it up
Saturday we had quite a big day. That morning I tried to work on pictures but someone just wasn't having it.

Then we headed up to Clayton for my cousins wedding. Fun fact, I actually set these two up a few years ago! The wedding was beautiful, the setting was beautiful, the reception was beautiful and the couple was beautiful!
After that we went with the littles (Megan & Blake) to the drive in! That is seriously one of my favorite things to do. I would rather see a movie there than at a real theater and you can't beat it, for both of us to watch both movies it was only $16!
We saw Turbo & Grown Ups 2. I love that they still use the old previews.
And they have funnel cake, what more can you want?!

Then we spent the night at my cousin Lisa's house. Seriously how cute is this guest bed.

Sunday we went to church, lunch with my grandparents and then went out on Lake Rabun with the Littles! Megan's boyfriend Blake is an avid fisherman (he even does pro tournaments) and him and his Dad just got a new boat so Blake took us out!
We also ran in to my cousin Heather & her bf Chauncey out on the lake (only in Rabun County) and they let me hop on with them and go wakeboarding! I haven't done that in probably 4 years and it wasn't as easy as I remembered, I am definitely feeling it today! After a meal at my favorite restaurant La Cabana (go figure) we headed home. It is not very often that I get to spend the weekend up there with my husband and my family so it was truly a great weekend. One of the best I have had in a while! Y'all go link-up with Sami so we can hear about your weekend!

Weekend Shenanigans: Dixie Chicks Style?!?

Happy Monday y'all! Normally I follow that sentence with a "Mondays suck blah blah blah" kind of remark but today I really mean it. After such an amazing weekend this really is a Happy Monday! Today I will be sharing my Weekend Shenanigans with a link-up that I did a while back with Sami over at Sami's Shenanigans .

Sami's Shenanigans

Friday night I went to the gender reveal party I mentioned in my Five On Friday post. I love any excuse to spend time with my family, all of my cousins are like brothers/sisters to me! I will post pictures later but all I will say for now is that my team won! I am sooo excited to meet this sweet little girl!! {I made some edits to the previous post for privacy reasons}

This weekend my in-laws were out of town and were sweet enough to let us borrow their boat! Now if you are reading this and you live in Georgia, well the South in general, you will know that it has been non-stop raining this Summer. As Lauren said "this is pretty much the suckiest Summer ever!". Saturday morning not only was it overcast with showers every now and then but it was cold y'all! {Hence the Dixie Chicks "Cold Day In July" reference. Yes I know that song is about a relationship but just focus on the title..mmk!}
{yes that is a hoodie and a long-sleeve button up, ridiculous. You're drunk Georgia}

Sunday the weather was even worse, we spent the majority of the time hiding out in the cabin to avoid getting soaked! But we were bound and determined not to let the nasty weather bring us down. I am so glad we didn't because we had a blast! The rest of this post will be mainly pictures because well, they just speak for themselves! And I know that if y'all read Lauren's blog Peach State Of Mind you've probably seen most of these pictures and heard this story but we are besties so deal with it! I hope y'all have a good week!

{our attempt at the LOVE pic hah}
{a little pda, sorry 'bout it}

{my hunky hubs hanging out}
{I love this picture of my 2 favorites}
{lots of bestie pix}
{these 2 being all cute on their 1 year engagement anniversary}
{Lauren being sassy singing some Pistol Annie's to Cody}
{look what we found in the trailer hitch, cute!!}
{Look at my little Lake Pup he was loving swimming! Well either he was loving swimming or he thought he had to rescue us when we jumped in. Regardless, it was cute!}
{a couple selfies!}
{our guys fishing}
{I absolutely love this picture Lauren took of our boys braving the rain while we kept dry in the cabin. This pretty much sums up their friendship!}
We did have a little glimpse of blue skies, just enough to get a little color on our cheeks!

There is nothing like seeing pictures of yourself in a bathing suit to make you realize it is time to get serious about losing some weight! It is not going to be easy but I know if I set my mind to it I can get back to where I used to be. I just have to stop making excuses, married life didn't make me fat, my love of food made me fat! I really think it will be easier this go round because Cody, Lauren & Paul are all going to join the gym too, no one likes working out alone! Y'all go link-up to share about your weekend!!!

Five On Friday

Boy oh boy do I love Fridays!!!!
Today I am linking up (again) with April at A. Liz Adventures for the 5 on Friday Link-Up!

{1} I am loving that for the first time in as long as I can remember we have no plans this weekend! We always have a family function, work or some other obligation happening but somehow the stars have aligned and we don't have anything scheduled for this weekend. That just makes me so happy but anxious at the same time because I feel like I am forgetting something! Of course all I can think about is what we are going to do haha I wish I could just relax and go with the flow.

{2} I seriously have the best job with the sweetest co-workers. Today one of the girls I work with brought me the cutest t-shirt with my monogram on it! Like Reese Witherspoon says
"..My rule is, if it's not moving, monogram it."
I am just so in love with it & so flattered that she thought of me!
 the shirt is pink too it just looks red in the picture

{3} Lauren & I decided to go get pedicures yesterday (we ended up getting manicures too, hehe) and it was amazinnggg!!! I cannot even tell you the last time I had my nails done but I can tell you that I plan on doing way more.
we also tried out the new Instagram video, it is fun & as Lauren said I have no shame
TL: My fingers & Toes BL: fancy hand soak w/ hot stone R: Me & Laurens Toes

{4} I know earlier I said we didn't have any plans this weekend but actually we do {kinda}. We have a whole lot of waiting to do because we have a nephew that will be here any day now!! I am so excited for Mr. Branson Todd Stephens to make his debut and it is looking like that might be this weekend!

These are my 2 sweet nephews. Clayton (left) & Haden (right) who was yawning b/c I had just got him out of bed so I could see him before I went to work! Come on Branson there is plenty of room on Aunt Asha's lap for one more!

{5} I almost forgot about this! Speaking of nephews the other day we got to keep our oldest nephew Clayton {Branson's older brother} and we took him to this place called Skyzone. If you have one of these near you you have to go right now. No seriously, step away from the computer, kids or no kids, go find a Skyzone! It was seriously the neatest place I have ever been to, it was so much fun for all of us. It is pretty much a whole building made of trampolines! There is a regular jumping room, one where you jump up and shoot a basketball, a dodge ball room and a section where you jump into a foam pit! I mean doesn't that just sound like awesomeness! It is, it really is.

Well that's it for today! Y'all have a good weekend and go link-up to tell us what's on your mind today!
 {excuse all the colors I am a little over excited about the official start of Summer!}

Weekend Shenanigans

Happy Monday y'all! I know, I know what is happy about a Monday?! But hey, I am just trying to make the best of it! On this wonderful Monday morning I am linking up with Sami's Shenanigans for Weekend Shenanigans. I am having trouble figuring out how to attach the button with the link so if anyone has any tips please let me know!

My weekend was actually pretty amazing, so here we go!

Friday night we went to Cheddars with our favorites! Anytime we get together with Cody & Lauren we have a blast and it is always a plus when there is good food involved. But I had to get home and get in the bed because the next day I had a wedding to shoot and that means a very long day!
I love this picture Lauren snapped of me working, me & Lauren exhausted & headed home, the beautiful wedding location

By some miracle I convinced Lauren to go with me Saturday to be my second shooter  lifesaver,
I seriously have no idea what I would have done without her!! You should check out her blog at Peach State Of Mind .We got to Clayton around 10:30 a.m. to start shooting at the hair salon and except for a few breaks here and there we pretty much didn't stop until we left the reception at 11:30 p.m.. Needless to say we were exhausted! We literally felt like our legs were going to fall off, we sounded like two whiny babies but we had a right! When I walked into my house at almost midnight I could not get into my bed fast enough. What matters is, the wedding was beautiful, the bride was sweet as pie and the weather was perfect. I can not wait to see how all the pictures turn out. I have a little sample for you though!

Sunday was of course Fathers Day so Paul & I headed back to Clayton for church & to see my Dad(s). I am lucky enough to have several father figures in my life and I got to see all of them Sunday. My stepdad came to church with us but I didn't get to take a picture with him. After church we went on a picnic at Terrora Park with my Dad, Step Mom, Granny & sister. It is such a beautiful park and reminds me exactly why I love where I am from. My Dad & I have had a rough relationship but we are working on it and I will always love him no matter what!

our picnic spot
yes I wore the same outfit after church as I did Friday night, don't judge

After that we went to my Mamaw's house to visit with one of my absolute favorite people and the most influential man in my life, my Papa. I cannot put into words how much that man means to me
I wouldn't be who I was today without him! He is the man I look up to, the one who walked me down the aisle and my hero! I love him so!
don't let the lack of smile fool you he was crying {this was right before we walked in}

Sunday afternoon/night we headed back to Flowery Branch to spend some time with Paul's Dad! We took him out to eat at Crossroads Grill and had the most delicious steak I have ever tasted. Mark is another one of the amazing father figures in my life. He may not be my own but I love him like he is, I am so lucky to have him as my father-in-law! We didn't get any pictures with him either unfortunately.

here's a picture of me & my baby Hank just b/c he is adorable

Well that is it for my weekend shenanigans!
What did y'all do this weekend?

This Weekend!

Gosh my last two posts have been really long, maybe today I can keep it a little more light!

I love weekends! For us they are almost always busy busy busy but it's ok because I LOVE spending time with all of our family and friends. Tonight I am having dinner with my best friend from high school who is now dating one of Paul's best friends after we set them up a few months ago!
It has been forever since we did anything just by ourselves so it should be fun!

me & Sammy circa 2008

But tomorrow I get to do one of my FAVORITE things. My friend Lauren asked me to go wedding dress shopping with her! I absolutely love weddings and I had such a blast planning mine so I was honored when she asked me to tag along! Lauren & her fiancé Cody have quickly become two of our favorite people! We just love them they are just the sweetest couple and they are getting married one year from today! If you want to follow her wedding planning journey you can visit her blog at Peach State Of Mind!

these cuties!

When Lauren asked me to go with her it got me to thinking about the crazy experience I had trying on wedding dresses. I made the huge mistake of taking 10 people with me to my appointment even though I knew better. I had watched plenty episodes of  Say Yes To The Dress and that is one of the big no-no's they preach all the time. But I have a lot of people who care about me and I wanted to do one appointment with everyone just so they could have the experience. I did NOT want to buy a dress that day I wanted to shop around more and I told everyone including the consultant that. But long story short no one listened and I ended up leaving with a dress that I did not love. After months of trying to convince myself to love that dress I just couldn't do it. I ended up taking it back and getting a dress that I had picked out when I was 16 years old! Now don't get me wrong I loved my dress, I just wish I would've had the experience of trying on more dresses at different places.But at the end of the day I married my best friend, in a beautiful dress and it was the best day of my life!
this was one of the big NO's for me

& this was THE dress. Simple, sweet & comfy!

Happy weekend y'all!!
