High School Studio Art-Student Work
Studio Art is a required course. In this course the student learns all of the fundamental principles and elements of art and design. We begin this class in black and white using several different media of drawing and painting, we then progress to using color and finally explore some 3-Dimensional art and sculpture.
Perspective/Color Scheme Painting
Three dimensional letters. This project reinforced the concepts of perspective and complementary color schemes.
Figure drawing-Stencil Project
This project combined many concepts that the student had learned, including, color theory, figure drawing, and pattern. A new technique was introduced of stenciling and using a toothbrush to spray paint.
Stained Glass/Figure Project
Stained Glass Figure. Students modeled for each other as they practiced gestural figure drawing. They then took their best drawing and enlarged it to make a beautiful stained glass window effect.

2008-2009 Spring Arts Festival

For the past two years I have volunteered my time, coordinating the group art projects for the Lake Mary Elementary' Spring Arts Festival. The objectives for these projects were to involve every student at Lake Mary Elementary in creating artwork that was to be sold at a Silent Auction, during the Festival. The Challenge of this task was to involve every student from every grade, and to create a beautiful finished product (that somebody would want to buy). The biggest challenge was that I only had one 45 minute art period with each class in, which to involve the students. The posts that follow are the results!
Grade Five Group Project_Circle Paintings!
Grade Four Wacky Pet Magnets!
Grade Three Group Project- Apple and Pear Paintings!
Two large paintings were put together in a collaborative effort. Each third grader painted one square each.
The planning included, choosing a picture, simplifying the image, enlarging the image, numbering all of the shapes, customizing paint colors, cutting the squares, transferring the images onto each square and facilitating and administering the process of having the students paint the sqaures.
Once all of the squares were painted, I glued the squares in place on masonite. The painting was then framed with a beautiful recycled frame!
