I'm a Belieber!

You may remember THIS and THIS from a few years back when my sisters and I entered a contest to meet Miley Cyrus and go to her concert. Well - when a contest came up for Justin Bieber tickets we had to copy our Miley picture and enter again.  We are HUGE dorks, I know. So if you ever have time, go vote for us! You can vote once per day, per email address.  Go HERE and vote for picture #58!!

campfire

At the end of May my family decided to have an impromptu campfire up the canyon! It was the perfect way to start summer. There is nothing better than Utah mountains in the summer!

Jack was looooving the mountains and watching the river
It was so beautiful up there

First S'more of the year!

Jack Attack stole my zip-up all night, love him!

Madsen Furniture

Back in May my family spent a Saturday afternoon at This is the Place Heritage Park for the dedication of the Madsen Furniture building.

It all started about ten years ago when they opened up a monument for the furniture store that my ancestors started back in the 1800's in Denmark, which they brought to the Salt Lake Valley when it was first being established. Unfortunately, over the years our monument got worn down with age and theft. My grandma and her brothers recently decided to donate the funds to have it restored back to they way it was before.

May 19th was the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony to release the new P.W. Madsen Furniture store, as well as a new fire station and fire truck up the road. It was interesting to learn the story behind Madsen Furniture. My great-great-great-great grandparents, Hans and Louisa Madsen began selling their furniture in Denmark. They came to the Salt Lake Valley in 1875 with their son, Peter William Madsen. Peter continued on with their furniture selling tradition, keeping the business alive by contracting with local artisans, as well as having furniture shipped from the east on the railroad. Madsen furniture continued to operate in Salt Lake City until the year 2000, when my great-uncles decided to close. At that time it was the oldest continually run family furniture business in America.

We spent a few hours walking around the park, looking in the shops and eating lunch with the fam.
It was such a perfect Spring day and so fun to learn about my heritage!

Ellen!

So - long story short, I love the Ellen show. I think it's hilarious and I record it every day! I knew we were going to California with my family in May so I started applying for May tickets and a few months back I got that call that I got tickets! Unfortunately the tickets were for a taping 2 weeks before we were planning to go out there! We tried to change the date but Ellen wasn't going to be taping when we were there with my family so we decided to still go to the show, but make it a SUPER quick trip since we were going back 2 weeks later for a week! When I say it was a quick trip - I mean it!

Our first stop in LA was to our fav place, Randy's Donuts - yum!

We then went to Santa Monica to check out the pier, beach, shops, etc. It was a gorgeous day!

After Santa Monica we drove over to Beverly Hills to walk around and drive through all the a.maz.ing neighborhoods.

We headed to Burbank for lunch and then to the Warner Brothers studios for the show!

I had to get a pic with the huge Vampire Diaries sign because I'm OBSESSED!

Then off to Ellen!!

They let the audience turn on their phones for 5 minutes to hurry and take a pic to post to Instagram with the hashtag #ImAtEllen! I was so excited that we could take a pic in the studio!

Our guests were:
Steve Carell - so awesome, he was hilarious!
Brooklyn Decker (Andy Roddick's wife) - I loved her in Just Go With It so I was excited to see her and she was super cute.
And Bobby Brown - blah! He was kinda weird and pretty awkward - but nicer to the audience than Steve or Brooklyn was!

It was such a fun, quick getaway and we have more tickets to a show in the fall so I'm excited to go back!
