In the NorthWoods

I'm up in the NorthWoods where I have a love/hate relationship going with nature. I'm a bug magnet, and they follow me everywhere, even indoors.

And the skies - they've been really blue most days, today, especially, but in the low 80's, a little too hot for me. Fortunately, it cools off nicely at night; and fortunately, I'm not home in Illinois, where it's in the 90's.

First Time For Dinner at PJ's Burger Barn -
We Will Return!
Out to dinner almost every night, and too much ice cream. Not to worry, everyone knows vacation ice cream calories don't count.

Two trips to Lake of the Torches Casino. Lots of fun playing penny slots, but enjoy myself too much! My friend, Jeanne, and I spend hours when we go. We don't stop whether we're winning or losing, because we are what you call "players." Anyway, I only went twice and the damages weren't too bad this time.

In my spare time, I've been working on a new romantic comedy, which I forgot I had on my laptop computer. A while back, I had hit a roadblock, but this week inspiration came and now I know which direction I'm going, so I'm forging ahead.

Signing off now. Places to go and things to see.

Hello from California! by DL Larson

We, my husband and I, left cloudy Chicago for sunny but cool Los Angeles! We will be visiting old friends today and then heading for our real vacation tomorrow where we will arrive in Honolulu.

I hope to spend this vacation practicing writing as a travel journalist. Cruising the islands has been a dream of mine and my husband has all sorts of excursions set up for us at several islands. We will take a few scheduled tours at some places and head out on our own at others. It's bound to be fun, relaxing, and I hope educational for those wondering about the tropics of the United States. Check back next week and I will tell you what we've experienced.

Right now, we're headed for brunch and sunshine and meet up with friends.

Have you ever done travel journaling? If so, share with us your experiences, ideas, ect.

Til next time ~

Venice by Margot Justes

This blog, hopefully will be a visual delight. I have been so consumed with my vampire novel, that I have neglected my third and final novel in the hotel series. I needed inspiration and the photos of Venice became my muse, and of course I thought I'd share some with you.
Till next time,

The Life of a Writer

I'm taking a mini-vacation to get away from my regular life and guess what I want to do on my vacation more than anything else? Write!

I guess writers can't escape themselves.

Just about everything I do is within the context of my writing. Experiences are tucked away in my mind as possible scenes in a book that I'm working on or developing. I also hold onto the emotional feelings because I want to be able to relate that in words to my readers.

I've just finished the final rewrite of my first novel - a romantic suspense. Yeah!!!!!!

I will be reading it through once more for all those little details that a writer - especially a new writer - frets about before sending it off to a publisher or agent in hopes of a yes. I am prepared for the rejection letter however - just hoping that I will receive a positive respone instead.

So, on vacation I'm working, but then as a writer I am always working because every experience relates to who I am as a writer and the voice I am in the process of developing. This will be the way it is for me for the rest of my life.

Ah, the life of a writer!
