Would it be possible to rename files from a list of new filenames? Replace the names of all files in a directory with names from a list in a text file, or in a spreadsheet? Or is this feature already available?

Please consider writing and installing an AppData file with the application description and some screenshots, else Métamorphose2 looks really bad in the GNOME and KDE Software Centers. Metamorphose works with pillow library, and I think it will also work with PIL (also checked in a virtualenv).

Nicram, I'm using exiftool these days to rename my media files. But thanks for the suggestion! Hope Metamorphose takes this into account as this is arguably the first probable reason people might look for a batch renaming utility.

I'd like to rename my images by EXIF date and time. Images taken in burst mode (Even the iphone doing HDR does burst) will result with pictures being taken at the same date and time down to the same second resulting in duplicate errors when trying to rename with Metamorphose.

I would like to add a counter to the images taken in the same second (and reset the counter for each new batch of duplicates/burst images) to avoid the problem of duplicates.

Looking at the Mac OSX build, in the Numbering tab I see under the "Counter" a option for "Reset every" then an input field. Right now the input field is just set to a numerical pattern of every nth time, but an additional option under this heading that could recognize groups of duplicates and apply the rule to only those would be very useful.

If I can get this feature, I might well leave off seconds and use a naming convention that only goes down to the hour or minute rather than seconds.

I need to rename files using regex, create folders and move the files in it.
Example: take a collection of images and put them in folders with the width x height as folders names.
I would use : (.*?)([0-9]+)x([0-9]+)(.*) for files named 'white-orchid-flower-1600x1200-wallpaper-804.jpg' --> '\2x\3\\\1\2x\3\4' in order to have:
1600x1200\white-orchid-flower-1600x1200-wallpaper-804.jpg on disk.
Note: my files names already contain 'width x height'.

Hi,
First let me say thank you for the wonderful software. As it sits, it does what I need and it would be fine that way. If you did want to improve it, I have a couple suggestions. I have been using PFranks Renamer in windows for years, so I've gotten lazy with certain things. The biggest difference would be the drop-down with numerous built-in commands ready to go for all but the most demanding renaming functions. Stack and reorder a few of these and you're on your way.

Beyond that, I find myself hunting down exact commands in the order list as the all keep the original name when you dragged it down. Being able to name these and have the window expand to accommodate the custom names would be a big help. The other thing that slows me down is the per character regex checker that takes me to the error screen on every typed character when I have existing files in the list. I bypass this by writing the regex with the regex box un-ticked, but when I forget, it's a pain. Maybe there's an option I haven't located yet to turn off the autocheck yet, but I'm fine with having it wait till I hit the preview button when I'm in the rename window, but automatic results in the file chooser window.

In Summary:
1 - Some easily selectable built-in commands for the most often renaming actions. (A dropdown in the rules window, with room for a few custom rule sets / configs)
2 - Ability to rename the rules.
3. Regex error checking only after hitting Preview button
4. Handy Regex reference drop-down or window without launching a browser. (Quick Help?)
5. Shortcut (F2) to manually edit list entries, and remember entries when more files are added. Only cleared by hitting Preview again.

As I said before, this will get what I need done as it is and am extremely thankful for your work. I hope you consider these suggestion for what they are to help make the program more accessible for forgetful people like myself.

Aquileo | Insert text from list(s)

It would be nice to insert/add text from a predefined list or text file, best explained by my situation.

I have many TV show files appropriately named with their Series name, season # and episode # and I would like to add the title of each episode to it's proper file. The easiest way it seems to do this would be to have the titles saved (one per line) in a list and then each would be appended to each file.
Obviously additional options such as Regex matching (on both ends) would be handy too.

Hope that makes sense and others find it useful as well.
