It is with great pleasure I announce the release date for the first ALPHA version of OpenLP 2.0: Sunday 28 March 2010. What is an alpha release? Well, it's a release to say, "hey, we're not yet done, but you can look at what we've done so far!" Some features are missing, some are incomplete, and some are buggy, but you can look around and play around! It has taken us a year and a half to get to this point, an initial release of OpenLP 2.0, but this is because we have been rewriting OpenLP from the ground up. There is not one single small piece of code from version 1.x in version 2.0. Rewriting OpenLP from scratch has given us a chance to fix design mistakes in 1.x, add more flexibility, and give you much much more in version 2.0 than we could have ever given you in 1.x. I'd like to extend a huge thanks to my fellow developers, testers and other members of the community for their help, encouragement, and commitment to a brand new version of OpenLP! Version 1.2.3 is purely a bug fix release, solving - Correction for theme edit bug where the horizontal and vertical alignment sometimes went haywire - Correction for error when loading a image file for a theme background which contain international characters - Improved handling of Bible imports to avoid importing a bible with the same name as an existing bible. - When displaying verses in the Live window, the slide list now auto-scrolls up to show the next slide in the same way as the lyrics slides. - Correction made to the Add Song Wizard which resulted in songs not being saved. - Change made to the SongSelect web import. The mechanism for importing songs now monitors the lyrics export to file function in the webpage. The reason for the change is because the lyrics are now embedded as a PNG file and not as raw text.

Changes in openlp.org 1.2.2. - Correction for bug prevent song information display from being deactivated - Added option to ignore saving the unsaved OOS content when selecting to open a new OOS - Fixed bug preventing the theme export to use any folder outside of the Documents and Settings folder. Theme can now be exported to any folder.

Hi All For those of you out there that don't have musicians to play music for your church service and use audio tracks, version 1.2.0 will be a welcome surprise (since it wasn't in the project plan). Due to a personal requirement, I continued development on the v1.x line of openlp.org and added the facility to play audio files. Not only that, but they can be linked to lyrics and managed together. While I was busy with this I was in contact with CCLI in Germany and information to enable me to build in song import support for SongSelect file (txt & usr). I also added a web based facility to import songs from SongSelect. For those of you who use SongSelect, I'm sure you will enjoy this. I was able to enhance the internationalisation capabilities of openlp.org. This includes being able to select your language preference when the First Run Wizard runs after installation. Along the way a few bug fixes were also taken care of. For a more complete list of the changes, refer to the Changelog. Enjoy, Derek.

When we released openlp.org 1.0, we hinted at a bugfix release soon after, to clear up any bugs that were still in that release, and true to our word, we've been working on openlp.org 1.0.1. We got our testing team to mercilessly attempt to break openlp.org in a bid to find as many bugs as possible. And we got them... After a few rounds of test -> fix -> test -> fix, I think we're almost done, and I'm hoping to release openlp.org 1.0.1 in about 2 weeks time. After 1.0.1 we're going full steam ahead on version 1.1, the development version of 1.2. As we go along, we'll have a few releases (1.1.0, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc) so that those who want to run a bleeding edge version of openlp.org can. For the rest of you who prefer stability and reliability, we would suggest you stick with 1.0.1 until 1.2 itself comes out. We've also had offers from another 2 folks to help us out with 1.1, and so we're looking forward to a slightly faster development pace, although we can't make any promises.

After a long and busy road, openlp.org is finally nearing it's final release. Version 1.0 of openlp.org brings video, images and presentation projection to the table, in addition to it's core functions of Bible verses and songs. With configurable themes, custom slides, and even on-screen alerts, openlp.org gives the user a variety of features at their fingertips. openlp.org 1.0 will be released on the Friday, 1 February 2008.
