Museum of Disability History & Kornreich Institute for Disabilities Studies
The Museum of Disability History, housed within the Kornreich Institute for Disabilities Studies (KIDS) at The Viscardi Center, is one of New York’s newest cultural institutions. Its full collection is made up of over 8,000 artifacts, documents, books, and photographic images that chronicle the story of the disability rights movement from its origin through modern-day.
A model of inclusion and accessibility, the museum features a brand-new 4,500-square-foot gallery space. It is a one-of-a-kind cultural institution bringing together art and artifacts that present the history, way of life, and identity of a vibrant disability community.
The museum and KIDS welcome visits by individuals, school/youth field trips, and community/business groups.
