For those curious about the growing use of AI and coding agents within the Linux kernel, this week there was another large batch of new patches fixed that were generated or co-authored by agents like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.

Beyond the prominent security fixes, these AI coding agents continue contributing a number of smaller fixes to the Linux kernel codebase. Those curious can see this git.kernel.org search for "Assisted-by" for those authoring patches in full or part by AI coding agents and honoring the "Assisted-by:" tag.

GitHub Copilot and Claude Code continue to be the most frequent AI/LLM contributors for Linux kernel development. Among those fixes this week affect the Intel Xe driver, the Raspberry Pi VD driver, AMD display code, SMB, Netfilter, sysfs, IO_uring, Bluetooth, and more.

It's as busy as ever for leveraging AI/LLMs in Linux kernel development and likely only continuing to grow more each week. This also doesn't factor in all of the other AI-powered activities assisting in Linux kernel development like the ongoing patch review with Shashiko.

Look for this week's big batch of human and AI-assisted fixes for the Linux 7.1 kernel to be formally out later today with the Linux 7.1-rc5 release.
