Genode OS 26.05 is out this week as the latest update for this original open-source operating system framework. With Genode OS 26.05, they have taken various features of their general purpose Sculpt OS operating system and turned them into reusable framework features.

With Genode OS now turning various Sculpt OS features into reusable framework features, the intent is that they can be reused by other hypothetical Genode-based systems. Genode OS 26.05 has also improved its hardware driver support for WiFi, ACPI, SOF audio, HID, LTE, and more.

Outside of the coding work on Genode OS 26.05, they have also completed their migration of the project from GitHub to Codeberg. Genode developers had been working to move off GitHub due to AI training concerns around GitHub Copilot and the like. With Codeberg they now are running off the open-source Forgejo project with less restrictions and concerns than the Microsoft-owned GitHub.
