COSMIC Epoch 1.1 Released With COSMIC-Monitor, Compositor Improvements

System76 today released COSMIC Epoch 1.1 as the newest feature release as well as being their first time bumping the minor version number since the December release of COSMIC 1.0.

The developers behind this Rust-based open-source desktop environment now plan to regularly increment the minor version number to allow for mid-release patch versions as needed. New to COSMIC Epoch 1.1 is COSMIC-Monitor as their intended replacement to GNOME System Monitor, which will soon be replaced within the Pop!_OS archive now that COSMIC-Monitor is in good shape for system monitoringg needs.

COSMIC-Comp as the Wayland compositor component to the COSMIC desktop now has support for tilling exceptions, naming of pinned workspaces, seperating logind from systemd, and vairous other fixes.

COSMIC background handling now scans for custom wallpaper directories recursively. The COSMIC file manager meanwhile now supports the Page-Up and Page-Down keys. The COSMIC-Term terminal will now also avoid re-reading the system theme from the disk on every menu bar rennder.
