TCS Interview Experience for Ninja Role

The placement process for TCS consists of two stages:

TCS NQT Exam

Interview

TCS NQT Exam Experience

Like all candidates, I filled out the TCS NQT form and appeared for the test. We had to take the exam at a TCS iON Digital Centre. The non-technical part was tougher compared to other company exams. The coding compiler was the worst – not a single line of code was provided, and copy-paste was disabled. I tried to copy a part of my code and ended up losing that line. Consequently, I couldn't complete any coding tasks.

Despite this, I was selected for the interview.

Interview Experience

The interview took place at our college. We first had to go through a screening process where all our documents, like mark sheets and college ID, were checked. After that, we were allotted panel numbers.

While waiting outside the interview room, the HR came and called me in. There were three panelists: HR, managerial, and technical.

Technical Round

The technical interviewer asked me to introduce myself first. Then, he looked at my resume and asked me to explain my project. I explained it very well, so he didn't ask any further questions about it. Later, he asked me to rate myself in SQL. I rated myself 8 out of 10, which was definitely a mistake. He asked me a query to find the third highest salary, but I didn't know it and said sorry. Then he asked me to write a query to clone a table, and again, I said sorry. He smiled and said, "You rated yourself 8." My confidence was quite low at that point. Then he asked about join operations. I explained it very well. He asked the difference between a left join and a full join, and I replied correctly.

Next, he moved to the coding part and asked me to rate myself again. I replied with 8 out of 10. He asked me to write two codes: one to sum two numbers and another to check if a number is even or not. These were very easy, and I wrote them instantly. Then he asked a few questions on OOP: what is inheritance, runtime and compile-time polymorphism, and what is abstraction.

He then said that was all from his side, and my managerial round started.

Managerial Round

To be honest, this was tougher for me. The interviewer asked why I chose TCS, TCS or Google, and about some famous projects of TCS. He was also cross-questioning my answers. I answered honestly. In the end, as I had mentioned in my resume that I am a writer, he asked me to recite a short poem of mine. I did it, and they all seemed impressed.

HR Round

The HR interviewer asked for my mark sheets of 10th and 12th grades. He asked why I moved from CBSE in 10th to a state board in 12th. I replied honestly that I went to Kota for JEE preparation, so I chose a school with no attendance issues. He also asked about my family.

Later, they asked if I had any questions. I asked how to switch from Ninja to Digital (Prime) role. He said there would be an internal test. Then they asked me to leave with happy faces.

Overall, the whole interview revolved around my resume and lasted about 20-25 minutes.

Later, I was selected for the Ninja role.
