Hi everyone, I’m Dhruvi shah, In this Interview experience I will share the whole process and interview experience of Google SWE Intern’25.
Google opens this opportunity every year at the end of the second year. The earlier you apply, the sooner you get to know your application’s outcome. However, I was in the middle of my Amazon internship at that time and was waiting for the referral. Then, after getting referral I applied on 20th June on the last day of Application .
I was fully confident in myself that my profile would get shortlisted. At the time of applying my coding profile was:
Leetcode: 1500+ Ratings (Top 30% in Global) [400+ Qns Solved]
Codechef: 2 ⭐, Ratings of 1425
Telephonic Interview:
It was on 5th July 2024, I had completed my Amazon internship on 28th June, 2024 with a PPI and after that I was busy for my End sems of 4th Semester, I was in habit of Scrolling mails everyday and what I found, A mail from Google Recruiter for Telephonic interview. I booked the interview on same evening.
On that call, the recruiter introduced herself at first and then told me to introduce myself. Then, ask about my Internship experience about the contributions there , projects, tech-stack and coding profiles. Then, we discussed the language in which I am comfortable. Then, the recruiter asked if you were free this week or not, I requested for 15 days time as my end-sems were going on and then she agreed and told me tentative interview date 22nd July, 2024
I didn’t received any reply for 22nd July and literally was having no hope. But then on 7th Aug, I received mail that I will have 1st interview tomorrow(8th Aug).
Technical Interview 1:
Questions: 2 Questions with Code
Q1 (Medium): The interviewer shared me a link of Google interviewing doc and started with 1st problem. She wrote a single line problem statement with no testcases and told me to generate some edge cases for the problem. I thought for 2 mins, Generated some testcases, told my approach and time space complexities to the interviewer. She agreed and I coded out with code quality. Took around 30 mins in this problem.
Q2 (Medium - Hard): The interviewer shared another problem statement which seemed to be a DP ques. only 10 mins were left. I got the approach and explained with time and space complexities. She agreed and I started with recursion and optimized to memoization.
The interview ended with a 5 min discussion about culture at Google. Interview went well but I was nervous.
Preparation for Interview 2:
On the next day of 1st interview , I received an unexpected mail that I am shortlisted for 2nd Interview and it will be on 16th August,2024. I was having 1 week and prepared thoroughly Graphs, DP, Binary search, Trees and sliding window from Striver’s YT Playlist.
Technical Interview 2:
Questions: 2 Questions with Code
Q1 (Medium): The interviewer shared me a link of Google interviewing doc and started with 1st problem. He wrote a single line problem statement with 2 testcases and explained me problem statement thoroughly . It was a graph based problem. I thought for 2 mins, told my approach and time space complexities to the interviewer. He agreed and I coded out with code quality. Took around 20 mins in this problem.
Q2 (Medium — Hard): The interviewer asked a follow up question of the 1st PS. It was again a graph based problem. I told 2 approaches with time space complexities and he guided me to the best Time space complexity solution. I Coded it out.
Interviewer asked me why i used HashMap<Integer, List> everywhere instead of Adjacency List , I replied because HashMap takes O(1) time and he seemed impressed. I was quiet confident about this interview and hoping for best.
Recruiter call for transcripts (28th Aug) :
My recruiter called me on 28th August,2024 around 7pm that I need to submit all my transcripts immediately by tonight and told that she will tell the final result tomorrow. I submitted and my heartbeat was very high, my parents and I was hoping for high🤞.
Recruiter call for Offer (29th Aug) :
Next Day around 2pm, I received call from an unknown number, put the call on speaker ,my mom and sister were listening. The call was of Google recruiter. She told me to guess what will be the result 😊, I said mam it was my 1st interview with Google and it went well and thanked her for supporting me throughout the process.
She told Dhruvi U got the Offer for Google SWE Intern 2025 Congratulations🎉and literally I was so happy and my mom thanked her on call.
