JEE Mains Exam Experience

Last Updated : 29 May, 2024

Filling out the JEE application was an exciting moment for me, as it marked the start of my final preparation for the exam. When I received my admit card, I felt both nervous and happy, ready to chase my dreams. I had spent the last two years preparing for this day.

The exam was scheduled to start at 9 AM. Luckily, my exam center was close to my home. I arrived an hour early to avoid any last-minute rush and to calm my nerves. I brought my admit card in a transparent folder along with my ID proof. Some students had their folders checked, but after all the checks, I finally entered the examination hall.

Inside, there were rows of computers. I was assigned a computer and, even though I was familiar with the Computer Based Test (CBT) format, I still felt a bit nervous. Since I had arrived early, I had some time to sit and calm myself before the exam started. The staff completed their formalities, like taking our signatures. They also gave us a rough sheet and a pen for calculations.

When the exam started, I decided to begin with the Mathematics section because I enjoyed it the most. I answered the questions I knew well and marked the more difficult ones for review. Some numerical questions required rounding off to specific decimal places, so it was important to read the instructions carefully.

After finishing a good portion of the math section, I moved on to Chemistry, my next strongest subject. I answered the questions I was confident about, being careful because of the negative marking system. Finally, I tackled the Physics section, which I found the hardest. I always saved Physics for last so I could focus on my stronger subjects first. Some physics questions were easy, some were tricky, and some were formula-based. I did the best I could with them.

During the exam, I focused only on doing my best, without worrying about my scores or rank. When the results came out, I was pleasantly surprised. I secured 99.38 percentile in Mathematics, 99.01 in Chemistry, 97.43 in Physics, and an overall percentile of 99.12. I was very happy with my results, as I hadn’t expected such high scores. My teachers, especially my math teacher, were very proud of me. He had supported me throughout my preparation, and I was very thankful to him.

Overall, the JEE Mains exam was a great experience, and I was thrilled with the outcome.
