When I think of Pepperidge Farm, I normally just think of Milano cookies. But it turns out that this company makes many of my grocery go-tos: Goldfish crackers, puff pastry sheets, farmhouse thin-and-crispy cookies, and Chessmen cookies.

I have always loved a classic buttery Chessmen cookie (especially paired with a hot cup of tea). But I’m so excited to branch out a bit from my usual, because a brand-new flavor of Chessmen was just announced — and it’s right on time for the encroaching fall season.
Pepperidge Farm Launches New Spiced Orange Cranberry Chessmen Cookies
A brand-new Chessmen Spiced Orange Cranberry cookie is hitting shelves nationwide this month as part of Pepperidge Farm’s limited-time Autumn Exclusives Collection. Beyond this new addition, the company is also bringing back Milano Pumpkin Spice and soft-baked Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake cookies. You can start to find the new flavors on shelves at Target, Walmart, and Kroger for $5.89 each this month.
The spiced orange cranberry cookie apparently blends warm spices with bright orange citrus and tart cranberry notes. It’s supposed to be a “cozy-yet-fresh” spin on the traditional butter cookie. While I am a fan of pumpkin spice, there are way more fall flavors to choose from and play around with — so I’m especially interested in this new Chessman combination that feels super seasonally relevant, but still modern and fun.

Cranberry is one of those flavors that screams fall to me — probably because of cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. I love seeing Chessmen lean into this flavor and pair it with rich spices (like cinnamon). I also think the orange will help brighten up this butter cookie, because the original can feel a little too rich at times if you don’t have something to pair it with (like the aforementioned tea or coffee).
This Chessmen expansion is not Pepperidge Farm’s first. In fact, earlier this year, the first permanent Chessmen cookie flavors launched. These included salted caramel, cinnamon sugar, and brown butter pecan. While I haven’t gotten a chance to try these cookies yet either, I seriously am craving a bag of the brown butter pecan ones right now. They sound dreamy!
