In accordance with youth safety regulations in Brazil, YouTube requests the age range from your iOS device to apply age-appropriate experiences if you are using the YouTube app while signed out in Brazil. Depending on the age registered to the Apple Account signed in to your device, you may notice changes to your experience if you are using the YouTube app while signed out.
Experience for devices set up for teens (ages 13–17)
If you use the YouTube app signed out and the age of the Apple account signed in to your device and shared with YouTube is between 13 to 17, YouTube automatically applies additional protections and default settings to ensure a safer viewing experience:
- Digital wellbeing: Break & bedtime reminders will be turned on by default. Learn more about wellbeing features on YouTube.
- Adding safeguards to recommendations: Recommendations will be adjusted to limit content that, while acceptable in isolation, could become problematic for some younger viewers when viewed repeatedly. Learn more about how we build content recommendations to meet the unique needs of teens.
- Ads: You will only be served non-personalized ads. Additionally, you will not see ads from sensitive ad categories such as Gambling and Alcohol. Learn more about ad-serving protections for teens.
- Autoplay: You will be prompted to toggle Autoplay on or off. Learn more about Autoplay choices on YouTube.
Experience for devices set up for kids (ages under 13)
If the age of the Apple Account signed in to your device is under 13, you will see a prompt when you open the YouTube app. To continue watching videos, you must choose one of the following options:
- Sign in to an account: You will be prompted to sign in to a Google account.
- Go to YouTube Kids: You can choose to switch directly to the YouTube Kids app for a dedicated, age-appropriate environment.
