To help improve Pixel and the overall Android ecosystem, you can let your Pixel device send information to Google about how you use it. This info helps us improve Google products and services.
Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.0 and up or on Pixel watches with the Pixel watch Android companion app version 4.1 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Learn what information is shared with Google
If you turn on “Usage & diagnostics,” your Pixel device sends information about your device’s performance and usage patterns to Google. This info is associated with your device's unique identifier, such as serial number. For example, your device can send information such as:
- Battery and thermal performance
- Sensor performance
- Component related performance (such as speakers, camera, display, storage, and others)
- Software stability
- How often you use your apps
- Quality and length of your network connections (such as mobile, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth)
Connect Usage & diagnostics to Google Account
Important: This feature is available on Pixel 6 and later devices, including Pixel Tablet, that run on Android 15 and later. This feature is also available on Pixel watches using the Pixel watch Android companion app version 4.1 and up.
If you turn on "Usage & diagnostics," Google can connect that info with the device’s associated Google account. This data helps to improve the Pixel product portfolio and the Android ecosystem. For example, Google may use your account information to further improve how Google devices perform together.
Turn Usage & diagnostics on or off for your phone or tablet
Important: If you turn off “Usage & diagnostics,” it won’t affect information that apps might collect. Your device can still get essential services, like a new version of Android.
To choose whether to send usage and diagnostics information to Google:
- Open your device's Settings app.

Learn how Google uses this information
Google uses usage and diagnostics information to improve products and services, like Google apps, Pixel, and the ecosystem of Android devices. All information is used in accordance with Google's Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy.
For example, Google can use this information to improve:
- Battery life: Google can use information about what uses the most battery on your device to help make common features use less battery and to improve how batteries age.
- Crashes or freezes: Google can use information about when apps crash or freeze to help make the Android OS more reliable.
- Software support: Google may use the data provided to help devices last longer and to provide long-term software support for Pixel products.
Tip: Some aggregated information can help partners, like Android developers, make their apps and products better.
EEA instructions on data access
In line with the data access requirements of the EU Data Act (EUDA), Google makes certain data which is responsive to the EUDA, and generated by the use of Pixel phone and tablet devices, available to authenticated users of those devices.
Types of data available: The data available to you may include any product data, which is certain information your connected product generates during your use of the product (EUDA Data). For your Pixel device, this may include:
- Battery health information
- Charge cycles
- Battery capacity
- Device temperature
Format of the data: JSON (JavaScript Object Notation)
Estimated volume available: The volume of this data varies greatly and is dependent upon several factors including usage. The estimated volume range, per device, of the data responsive to the EUDA is:
- Estimated Low Volume: 2 MB
- Estimated Moderate Volume: 200 MB
- Estimated High Volume: 800 MB
Data is collected continuously and in real time if the device is connected to the internet. Data is associated with your Google Account and stored on Google’s servers for approximately 55 days.
Requesting your data: Google is working to make EUDA Data available via Google Takeout. Until the EUDA Data is available to you via Google Takeout, you can request access to your EUDA Data via accessing the Data Access Request form located on Google’s Privacy Help Center. To access the form in the Privacy Help Center, scroll to "Your Account Controls" > click "How to Access and Control Your Data" > and click on the "data access form" link.
