You can view live video feeds from your Nest cameras, doorbells, or other compatible security cameras using just your voice. For example, say "Hey Google, show me my backyard camera on the Living Room TV" using a Google smart speaker, display, Chromecast voice remote or Google TV Streamer Voice Remote.
What you need
- Compatible security camera
- Google smart speaker or display
- Chromecast, Google TV Streamer (4K), or devices that works with Google Cast
Step 1: Set up your security camera
- If you have a Nest camera or doorbell, follow the instructions provided in the box and app.
- If you have another compatible camera, follow the steps provided by the device maker.
Nest Cameras and Doorbells can stream to Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer, or a smart display screen. Learn how to stream your security camera using your display.
Step 2: Set up your device
If you haven't set up your Chromecast and speaker or display, follow the steps below. Make sure you connect these devices to the same Wi-Fi network as your camera, and add them to the same home in the Google Home app:
- Chromecast with Google TV (must be set up in the Google Home app)
- Chromecast (3rd gen or older)
- TV that works with Cast
- Speaker or display
- Google TV Streamer (4K) and Voice Remote
Step 3: Add your camera or doorbell to the Google Home app
Important:
- Make sure your device is plugged in or fully charged and powered on.
- If a third-party device isn't Matter-enabled, set it up in the manufacturer's app before you start.
If you set up a Nest camera or doorbell, it should already be added to the Google Home app. If you can't find the Nest camera or doorbell in the app, force close the app and open it again.
If you have another compatible camera, or still can't find your Nest camera in the app:
- Open the Google Home app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If correct, tap Close
to exit the account window.

another account or Add another account.
- To switch accounts, tap the drop down
- At the top right, tap Add

- Choose your camera manufacturer from the list to finish the setup.

Step 4: Use voice commands to stream your security camera to your TV
To use a voice command on your Google TV Streamer (4K), press and hold the microphone button on the remote control and then say the command.

To save power, the live video stream stops automatically after:
- Battery-powered Nest cameras and doorbells: 5 minutes
- Wired Nest cameras and doorbells: 12 hours
To start the live stream again, repeat your voice command.
Use the home panel on the Google TV Streamer home screen to control smart home devices
On your Google TV Streamer, you can open your home panel through the quick settings dashboard. This is accessible through Settings on the top part of your Google TV screen or by long-pressing the home button on your remote. Once open, you can navigate to the home panel tile
to access your devices.
