Europe@feddit.org•Uefa to discuss boycotting World Cup in emergency meeting after Fifa bombshellEnglish
4·5 days agoI’m not sure on this one. Ceferin seemed really pissed at the end of the world cup with the whole situation… Maybe because they aren’t getting enough of the pie?
But considerin UEFA managed to kill the “super league” a few years ago, I’d imagine this has a bit of weight to it… Let’s see.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a mainstream service or application that hasn't caved to shoehorning AI into where it isn't needed?
13·7 days agoI would argue this is a “follow the market, or become obscure” type situation unfortunately. I have a number of colleagues who don’t look beyond the AI summary on Google and get annoyed when it doesn’t show up for a search.
No, users were offered 2 (I think?) free games as compensation for the PS3 data breach.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_PlayStation_Network_outage
On May 16, 2011, Sony announced that two PlayStation 3 games and two PSP games would be offered for free from lists of five and four,† respectively.[75][76] The games available varied by region[75][76] and were only available in countries which had access to the PlayStation Store prior to the outage.[76]
Same!
And yeah, getting 2 free games for compromising all user data, months before they launch PSN plus with rotating free games… Felt odd…

I see 2 different, but related topics being mixed up in the comments a little.
This is an extension of a measure which has been in place since 2021. This is not the new legislation that was proposed earlier this year and late last year.
I do not believe this is a good thing at all! But we should all be clear what the discussion is.
The first iteration of Chat Control, commonly dubbed “Chat Control 1.0”, was introduced as a temporary measure in 2021. It was ultimately ended on 26 March 2026, when a vote to reject its extension passed by one vote. The next iteration of Chat Control, commonly dubbed “Chat Control 2.0”, is still under discussion.
You see these pop up on antique trading sites a lot. Sometimes in non-English speaking areas, they list them under their old trade name of “jolly n* bank”. Many of them also have the n word in capital letters across the figure.
The worst part, they sell…

Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•Can I rescue my puppy-chewed earbuds?English
4·28 days agoHave you tried the instructions on page 30 of the user manual?
Some of my earbuds can re-pair with a hard reset, but I’ve never tried to do it with mixing 2 pairs of the same buds…
IMO I would not try and repair those, unless you are very comfortable with electronics, plastics and understand the batteries. They typically have 1-2 Li-Ion cells under the part that hangs behind your ear. Ruining the sealing on those could lead to sweat ingress and eventually short circuit during use.
The click is usually recognising that you’re “trading” is not investing, but gambling. Then going and learning what investing is.

8·1 month agoWhile you are (probably?) correct, this is significantly beyond what is required to deploy Plex for a standard home server chump like me.
I’m using jellyfin and a few others, but am consciously putting off exposing these services to the web until I can learn enough about security to do so. Given life, this will probably take me the better part of a year…
