My lungs are burning. Here in Phoenix the temperature is still 110°F when the sun goes down at 8pm. I gotta run for my mental health so in 110 we go. Today I finished my water bottle on the walk from my apartment to the start of the trail.
Under a microscope it looks the same as electron probability clouds.

When dinner plans get cancelled so while panicking you rush to make your favorite comfort food (which is most likely mac n cheese) and you undercook it. Then you can hear it crunching as everyone eats. And then you can’t eat it again for 6 years.

Your well-cited AI post is arguing that one religious power is greater than another. You threw in a little tidbit acknowledging Iran as a theocracy as a means to legitimize your argument. This is what modern propaganda looks like.

Economic policy is just the engine that moves the economy. The real problem runs deeper. Greedy men love that the socialism vs capitalism debate gets so much attention.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can people know what they want at a given moment?
2·3 days agoIt’s not specific or precise. You cast a wide net to meet needs based on what your brain thinks you need and where you can get it. The part of your brain that says I’m thirsty might not work well but some other part convinces you to drink anyway, otherwise you wouldn’t be alive. Your nutrient needs can get met by a variety of sources. Maybe your system adapts well to just the basics. If it gets x proteins and y carbs, it’s happy. The part of a brain that develops cravings in other people hasn’t needed to develop in you. Or maybe stomachs needs a certain nutrient that yours produces naturally while others have to seek it out.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can people know what they want at a given moment?
5·3 days agoEvolution explains it. Hunger = need food. As we evolved, our needs got more complex and it’s no longer trivial to identify specific needs from behaviors. If you crave KFC, maybe your system needs sodium, protein, and 11 other herbs and spices. Boston Legal is a popular show because it makes many people’s brains produce some of the neurotransmitters they need at the moment. If you fall in love, your brain might think the person would maximize opportunities for reproducing over time. Different humans will fall in love for different reasons as their body attempts to satisfy different combinations of needs.
