I feel like humanity has already taken some inadvertent steps to address this point by accidentally spreading the most aggressive, virulent species across the globe as invasives.
I try to plant natives where I live, to help the native wildlife that’s currently here. But I have this small sliver of hope that maybe at least the worst of the invasive species will survive what’s coming.

I appreciate that these tipping point events also accelerate global warming by putting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but I have to think that once humans are gone, there could still ultimately be a significant slowdown? I gotta review the math.

By “feel the fallout”, do you mean they won’t be able to buy replacement parts when the company goes under/ there will be a ton of maintenance due to poor product quality? Or do you mean the blowback from other liberals/ progressives? If the former, I can’t help but agree. If the latter, I guess that’s what I’m trying to take issue with/ head-off.
What do you think about folks buying them second-hand? Some friends of ours are fairly liberal and dislike Musk, but they wanted an EV and couldn’t afford a new one. So they bought a used Tesla. As a liberal, I think the environment is my top issue… So I just shrugged. We can’t fix humanity’s bullshit while society is collapsing due to worsening climate disasters. It can be hard to get people to focus on something so esoteric though when people are struggling with more immediate needs, so I get the opposing view that it’s lower priority even if I disagree.

Imagine a fully formed child or adult with a liver problem. Science comes up with some way that someone of similar genetics can be physically connected to them and filter their blood for them and keep them alive while they wait for a transplant. Should the person who can physically sustain another person’s body be legally required to do so?

But regardless, I’m not sure what alternative you’re left with when the people committing heinous acts take in profits instead of prison sentences. Especially for someone like Trump, who is actively making the world worse and more unsafe in a myriad of ways, it’s clear he will never receive justice, nor will he ever willingly leave office. How else do you see people no longer suffering his “leadership”? I mean, I’m still hoping he keels over from natural causes, but it’s still a wish for him to keel over.

We stopped educating everyone with less money than the average middle class. You cannot reason with them because 1) they struggle with logic, and 2) they accept wholesale, without question, the utter lies and propaganda of the monied right-wing. We bought the ecoflow batteries; we haven’t shopped around for panels yet. I was hoping their panels were competitively priced so we could kind of just plug 'n play.
We live in the US (Maryland). We’re kind of rural, but not really that far out. A lot of folks in rural areas of the US have gasoline generators; this is just an alternative to that. The trees around here take out the power lines somewhat frequently and well… the state of the country makes us anxious. Around the time we bought the system, some right wing groups were floating ideas about shooting up electrical substations.
Anyway, if we were making the transition just for economics, we would also have gone in the reverse order. But we have two small kids, so we were worried about preparedness.
Ehh, disagree. We have a battery backup system (they charge from the electric lines) for our house because we have a well instead of sewer lines, so when the power goes out we don’t have water. Our next big purchase will be panels to charge the batteries as further backup.
Yea. I think Aileen Canon, the Supreme Court rulings, and the Georgia prosecutor BS proves that our justice system isn’t functional and would in no way stop these people.

And I could provide some! I’ve been on a road trip through the Spanish countryside where I was scoffed at and waved away at 3-4 restaurants for asking (as someone with Celiac!) if they had comida sin gluten. So I’ve definitely gone hungry as a tourist before. Didn’t love it! Wouldn’t recommend rural Southern Spain to anyone with Celiac!
I’ve done the bread and cheese thing in Paris back when I could eat bread. It was fine, you know, since I didn’t have to go hungry.
