I’m generally very respectful towards people’s religions but I would heckle the shit out of these bastards.
If the airlines can’t stop an evangelist from preaching, they can’t stop me from blaspheming.

But that would have exactly the effect of overproducing and artificially lowering prices. And isn’t that exactly what they’re doing? (ie the workers get paid, people get to move into subsidized housing, the investors are left holding the bag).
That said, I don’t think overproduction is really a practical thing when it comes to housing. Perfect production would be when everyone who wants a house, has one. Overproduction would be more houses than we know what to do with and we’re nowhere close to that. I’d say we’re generally in a state of acute underproduction when it comes to housing and that’s been keeping prices artificially high.

Do I wish they were building to house their population rather than overproducing in order to artificially lower prices?
How would that work? House prices are inversely proportional to housing availability. How do you let people buy houses at reasonable prices while also allowing people to sell them at increased prices?
Sure. We’d have to adapt the conspiracy theory a bit to make it believable.
I’d like to propose one that also explains the suspicious abundance of banks and real estate offices. They were secretly funded by alien pedophile cabals so they could spy on the populace and mind control them. The initial alien expeditionary forces mistakenly reported back that bankers and real estate agents are the most beloved people on earth so they thought it would be the perfect disguise.
They’re erotic because they have no wings; all legs and breasts.

Do you have a source on that? It’s about 3x the highest historical estimate I’ve seen.

There’s a second difference; the quality of information about it.
The Nazis managed to keep the concentration camps secret for most of the war. Israelis can’t claim they don’t know what’s being done.

I’d like to see interviewers get a bit dirtier and more honest with him.
When he gets up to leave in the middle of an interviewer, the interviewer should be asking, “Are you a coward? Why are you afraid to finish an interview?”
I’d rather see post-interview clips that reveal that him as a sniveling little wimp than ones where the reporter begs him to stay while he smugly walks away.
Thank you for bringing a new voice to the conversation.
What do you consider pro African content? How do you view various parts of Africa? How do you see US and Chinese actions from an African perspective? How do you tend to get information about them? How do you personally view the presence of the US or China in Africa?

That’s not what my comment says. Give it an other read and you’ll see I addressed that.

The overall technology of EV is better than ICE but that doesn’t mean every EV is better than every ICE.
Cars may be better than horses but no horse ever exploded the way a Ford Pinto would.

Given Germany’s uncritical embrace of Israel, it’s pretty clear that the Nazis have not been forgotten.
The problem is that instead of learning to guard against fascism, Germany’s lesson was that Israel is above criticism.
Thanks. I’m gonna give them a listen.

The guy asking where the nuke button is gets an extra big button. It’s labeled “Do the Nuke NOW!!!”
But we just wire it up to a recording that says, “A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.”
What are your current favorites from the old and new categories?

“one of” is doing some heavy lifting there :)
That button isn’t meant to stop crazy or evil people from killing us all. That’s (hopefully) taken care of by things like careful pilot vetting.
A completely sane and non-mass-murderous pilot might still accidentally press a normal button. Especially if they were tired near the end of a long mission.
It’s not as stringent as the safeguard that Roger Fisher proposed. He suggested that the nuclear launch codes be placed in a capsule and surgically implanted near the heart of a volunteer. That volunteer would follow the president around with a butcher knife. If the president ever wanted to launch the nukes it would need to be serious enough that he was willing to take that knife and carve the launch codes out of the chest of an innocent man.

I love the implied message in various switches.
Your average wall switch is about convenience. It says that it’s ready to go on or off with reasonable effort.
The “emergency stop” switch is designed to be as easy as possible to hit. If you’re barely hanging on to consciousness, are missing your hands, and have only a vague notion that you really need to push that button, you can smash it with any available body part and it will switch.
The nuke switch is the opposite. It says that you really really really better be sure before you flick this switch. If you aren’t alert enough to solve a bit of a puzzle, the switch stays off.
That could easily be extended to other interest areas;
The average person may exclusively eat local, contemporary foods (ie whatever everyone else in their community eats), while “foodies” go out of their way to find new and interesting flavors.
For many people, fashion is, “whatever looks kinda like what everyone else is wearing.” For “fashionistas”, there’s a whole language around clothing choices.
But it’s better to share some actual joyful experiences.
I recently started listening to “Angine de Poitrine”. They’re a modern band that just released a new album and still plays live concerts. According to the OP chart, they’re 15 years too new for me.
For some old stuff, check out Hillery Hahn. I keep going back to her Bach sonatas and he lived in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Then there are crazy fusion versions. I recently found Ben Comeau’s gem “Donald Trump is a Wanker”. He took the bassline of “Seven Nation Army”, gave it a choral voice, and transcribed it to a fugue format. To paraphrase an other contemporary artist; that shit is bananas.
This may be true for casual listeners but it fails miserably for people who are “into music”.
People who have donated blood or organs should get access to free blood and organ donations when they need them.
People who are on blood and organ donation lists should get priority access to blood and organs when they need them.
We should still try to take care of people who refuse to donate but they should wait behind the people who are contributing to the health of society with their own bodies.
