Happy to see that the demo is out. I have yet to find a way to get access to steam but I am still looking. I am also looking for ways to get into the discord. I would love to try it. Also when I saw the little pictures they have of the game in steam and I saw the angelicas grace picture I legit saved that photo and searched that entire photo for hints as to where it might be and all I got was that it's in the west side of the continent. Also I would love to get a key to the game as it would make getting it far easer.

hey there are dungeon bosses they just come in different forms depending on the biome your in. my cousins include hydras, lich kings, and 1 other who I cant remember because why would I remember that one cousin who is distantly related.

There are indeed many bosses in this world!

Y'know what, one more bug report for the road.

The dungeon minimap seems to pull from every dungeon level simultaneously.  It's decently useful on level 1, but as you discover areas on 2 and 3, they all display at once and it just turns into a uniform blue square.

Also, do all dungeons have bosses? I have not been able to independently confirm that all dungeons have bosses.

A couple minor things as well, because why not throw 'em in:

  • the dialogue boxes for pets usually include, like, "/u2014" on either side of the species name.  Purely visual bug and not disruptive
  • it would be really nice if you could switch items in the quick-consume slots by dragging and dropping (like how the rest of the inventory can be rearranged)
  • this isn't even a bug or a QoL or anything, buuuuut: you mentioned improved graphics in the Steam version.  I think skin colour customization for the Affineur would be a valuable graphics upgrade, for players who want the character to resemble them a little more.  Just a suggestion

These things may not be disruptive enough to warrant tweaking the Itch version again, which is cool, but maybe they're applicable to the Steam version too.  I figured you'd want to know.

Hey! Well if this is one for the road, please allow me to extend a very hearty debt of gratitude, as this is quite a haul in terms of insights and bug/QoL reports -- thank you as always.

First off, I'm a bit behind in catching up on all the messages, but please let me know if you'd like to be credited as a playtester in the itch and Steam versions of the game. And also: would you like to be immortalised as an NPC? And if so, what name would you like? 

As to the bug report: yep there's some genuine bugs here that go beyond QoL. I'd also say that some of them, such as the character customisation, just simply haven't been implemented yet in the itch version as it was so deep in the list of the systems to implement. But you're absolutely right, and actually that's a massive oversight that really should have been prioritised. This game is inclusive all the way and while I've been careful to attend to as much as possible, sometimes you miss some big things. So, yes, absolutely: character customisation is coming very shortly. I don't know if I'll be able to reverse engineer it into the itch version - there's a bunch of technical and architecture reasons - but I'll see.

To clarify, by "one for the road," I don't mean I'm completely dipping out on the project! It's just that I'm going to get a lot less useful, since you're developing a different version of the game from the one I'm commenting on.  I feel like it's just courtesy to therefore zip my gob.

(I actually haven't stopped getting ideas and noticing things about Roguefort, though.  I'm planning to type up a proper list and upload it to the Discord as a PDF; that seems like a QoL upgrade for you, compared to a bajillion comments.)

In terms of credit and an NPC . . . wow, that's amazing.  I'm genuinely touched.

My instinct, if I'm potentially being credited for stuff online, is to ask for "Merlin Grace" as the name given.  I do have some misgivings about that, though, since Merlin Grace is sort of my "stage name" for various art projects, and I don't want to use you as free advertising.  I don't have any misgivings about saying that I want "my" NPC to be named Merlin, though, since my affineur is named Merlin too!

Thank you! I totally get you - yeah it's a bit tricky with the two versions now, but I see this as the alpha version that will always be the genesis of the project, and then the Steam version is where it evolved to in order to ensure that a simple solo dev such as myself can reasonably maintain it and keep it growing and evolving. 

All that said, I'm incredible grateful for your bug reports and suggestions - it's helped shaped the game immensely. Merlin Grace will be immortalised as an NPC :-).

Also, all dungeons should have bosses - if you don't see one by the time you've cleared all levels, that's got to be a bug 

and with this I wish you safe passage through any dungeon you may enter. terroirspeed be with you.

Squirrel the Unbound, you have been one of the staunchest affineurs and bugtesters this game has ever seen, and will likely ever see again. I can't say how grateful I am to your many observation and bug reports from the far flung regions and depths of the game. 

But fear not, I have big plans to credit you and the other OG itch playtesters in the full game. So you will be memorialised forevermore - the least I can do.

Actually, there's one more thing: I will be offering free Steam keys for the game to the itch playtesters here. If you'd like that, I'll send one along as soon as the game is out

Oh what a sad parting this is. I do not know if I will be able to play the steam version but if I can I will. will it be free? if I do get to play I probaly wont be able to play often but I will see. I do believe that this game will go somewhere. also last thing can you add another page in the credits for us playtesters? I would like my legacy in this game to be remembered.

also do T10 dungeons exist because it says so in the manual but I have seen any

Hmm I will have to dig into the code to see how far I went with the dungeon tiers in the end - I made a lot of procedural generation changes so I'll have to see where it got to 

also in the manual it says something about boss loot chests. uum I haven't seen any loot chests. the only thing that bosses drop is gold

There should be loot chests in dungeons? 

I did that entire T4 dungeon in 13 minuets

Hey, it's not bugged! Sorry you haven't got one yet - it's a 20% drop from T3+ dungeon bosses. Missing 4 in a row is about a 40% chance - you've been a bit unlucky sorry. You'll get one soon 

second I think if you have full health the way fountans in the dungeons should give you 1 more max health

also so I had like 5 stacked large water pouches and I lost all of them because they all were put into one stack. I think you should make an item we can buy at T3+ town vendors and city vendors that we can put are water pouches into. here is my idea. the item is called the water pouch belt, you can take water pouches and large water pouches and you can put them on it or in it and that will change its total charges for water, and when you refill it it will refill that many charges. so lets say I put to large water pouches on it. it will then have 16 charges. I run out I refill it and it refills 16 charges. 

Thanks for the report - yep 100% agree and I'm working on it. I've got a bit of a tangled mess of a bug fix going on but I'll have it all patched soon 

possible bug or intentional game design?: sooo even when I'm speed 5 the turn counter still changes and so day still goes by at the same rate

Intentional! Speed 5 means you move 5x faster than creatures — they only get to act once per 5 of your moves. But the day/night clock still ticks each move, so time passes normally. Think of it as you covering more ground per day, not that days are longer.

so why am I getting 1 gold for killing leviathans

Not a bug - the game has diminishing gold returns from kills once you're above 1000g. The richer you are, the less gold drops from regular creatures (bosses are exempt). Your Leviathan has a base 20g drop, but at high gold totals it tapers down. It's there to keep gold meaningful in the late game rather than becoming infinite.

I just looted my 3rd T4 dungeon and no curd of ages

okay so I dont think he patrol guards should give quests because due to their nature as patrol guards realistically even if they didn't despawn (which would cause so many performance issues from saving all that data of each one) realistically in real life midieval ages what are the chances that on the road you would run into the exact same patrol solder

IM MAKING CHEESE. I have made multiple superior cheeses all green rarity. (I think uncommon) 

I just found my first T4 settlement. its a T4 village I found using signposts. haven't gotten there yet

question: is there any point in going to the west side of the continent. it doesn't seem like there are any town's or city's over there. the only thing I could think would be over there are dungeons and maybe some lore stuff. (still haven't found any of those 8 lore safezones)

bug update: for some reason gales ability just started working again. I just entered brinehold territory for the first time

bug: gallion deck. I can enter the deck but when I use the golden helm to try to take the wheel my screen goes black.

bug: my homing pigeons ability is not working.

I don't know how but the game thinks all the space between my pastures is pastured I think. I could be wrong

Hey thesquirrel123, I've been on the road as I had Easter with family out western NSW. It was nice. How about you?

By the way, just chiming in here to say thanks for all the bug reports. I'm catching up on everything now. I've got a lot to do this week but I hope to get a patch out in the coming days, with a lot of bug fixes and quality of life stuff.
