yt-dlp announcement , the parameters will be decrypted using an external js interpreter, but the comments inside say that deno cannot support Android running time, does this mean that the Android downloader will expire soon

@leeblackc Yes i am looking for a way to implement this. Also people have stated that u dont necessarily need a deno runtime. Some argue u could integrate android's webview for it. Im still looking on how it could be done

what about adding nodejs runtime yt-dlp when the upcoming change is completed does support it with --js-runtimes node as n-sig solver

I think i have found a way to use android's webview to run javascript, and a c file as the intermediate between yt-dlp and android. Cant test it yet until the yt-dlp feature is done.

Basically app runs a websocket server with a certain port, it expects input, runs webview with that input and sends output back
the c file is compiled in the android apk and impersonates as if its a node executable
yt-dlp calls node, c file connects to the localhost websocket and then returns output to yt-dlp.

This is theory for now, i have built the c file but no testing yet.

yt-dlp has merged the code related to the external n/sig interpreter into the main branch, and I think they will release a new update soon.

yt-dlp has recently released a new version, 2025.11.12, which fully utilizes ejs.

@MtndaleRedneck try the latest CI build, it integrates the js runtime, should resolve your issues
