Summer setting, continuously open

Could an extra function be added to force the thermostat to stay in the open position? In the summer, the heating is turned off—so there is no need for heating—but it is also not advisable for the valve to remain constantly closed. This is bad for both the thermostat and the radiator valve. The constant pressure has already caused two of my TRVs to break.
