There came a point where Starbuck annoyed me enough that I never returned to the show. I should probably finish it…

11·20 hours agoI agree, and bare metal doesn’t fill that need. The term literally means as close to the metal as possible. A software layer in between is anything but bare.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are there so many adult children out there in the world?
111·1 day agoYour view of what adulthood should be is ironically child-like itself. There is no standard. You will lose a lot of energy focusing on how your way is obviously the right way and everyone else is wrong.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think I should get a PC or a PS5 for my birthday?
11·4 days agoI’m going to give you an alternate take from the PC consensus here, based on your physical and technical setup:
- do you have a nice (oled?) TV with a large footprint relative to couch distance?
- Is your couch comfy and big enough for two?
- do you have a surround sound setup?
- do you have a dedicated office room for the PC?
Lack of dedicated space is a killer for creating the atmosphere I personally want when gaming on a PC. If you answered yes to the first three questions that is a preferable environment for gaming in my books. You could get a PC to hook up to your home theater but in my opinion that’s less than ideal since you’ll be limited by form factor for space or just straight up uglifying the home theater space with a PC, but also it will be noisier than a PS5 which is also distracting. And of course, an HTPC is awkward to use for non-media stuff.

While I don’t personally share your opinion, I don’t fault You for it. And I certainly agree that the output is getting better, just as it is for other generative areas like images and video. There will come a time when it will be impossible to distinguish unless explicitly stated by the creator. It’s inevitable.

Ackshulie they’re called chips not because they’re chunks of chocolate but rather because they resemble Chip Gaines’ finished products.

Football@sopuli.xyz•Gangs of New Jersey: how the World Cup final descended into ugly scenes between Argentina and Spain
1·6 days agoI really don’t understand any of the dirty claims. They play similar to other teams and physicality plays into that. But for other teams it’s deemed physical not dirty? I watched all knockout games and a majority of group stages. Their play is not significantly different from others in that regard, yet they get all the hate. FIFA constantly reviews behavior off the pitch and issues sanctions if things were missed but we’ve seen nothing of the sort for most teams (including Argentina).
To me it doesn’t make sense unless you apply some kind of eurocentric filter to the criticism. At the risk of being inflammatory I perceive an air of anti-latin american sentiment in general.

Where in Canada? Toronto has small shops that are better than any of the big chains.
- Rudy
- Cleo’s
- Rosie’s
- Burgernator
But if you’re asking me to pick from the well known chains I’d have to go with Shake Shack over the others.

This is the funniest thing I’ll read today. You have no clue what makes them so successful if you think this is all they’re doing.
