@dbermond Oh I see. They're lagging quite a bit behind. They are just quite outdated at this point. I guess I'll just stop using Stremio! Thank you for maintaining this package anyway, I appreciated it.

@Slug Upstream does not support Qt6 and/or multiple Qt major versions. It strictly links to Qt5.

OK, when I install it and open the program, it cannot connect to the website. Is that related to all the qt5 problems people have already mentioned, or is it something else?

Hello @dbermond,
Any chance of basing your package on qt6 instead of qt5? I confess I do not know what it entails, so it's really an open question. Regards

To all the people having problems with the package in the last days: all your problems are related to the AUR qt5 dependency chain, and not a problem of this package itself. At the time of writing, as @Ammonium already noted, all AUR qt5 dependencies were updated, and the package is working perfectly fine. When such situation happen again, you should ask for the the fix/update in the corresponding AUR qt5 package. When you are in an urgency to use this this package and cannot wait a few days for the AUR qt5 packages to catch each other version, you should either postpone all the qt5 package updates that trigger the issue, or update/do/fix everything yourself in the Arch Way of doing things. This is basic AUR usage and knowledge, and AUR users are supposed to comply with this, as the AUR is unsupported.
@mosgerila calling this package a garbage is offensive, specially, as already explained above, when all the problems are not from this package itself, but they reside on you, the AUR package user, as lack of properly being able to manage the dependencies.

This has already been fixed
mosgerila commented on 2026-05-28 15:08 (UTC)
I've given up on this garbage and switched to stremio-enhanced-bin. I'll only come back when, in dependencies, I see qt-6 (or the current qt version at that time) instead of qt5
bidzapfc commented on 2026-05-26 05:20 (UTC)
its fixed on cachyos now.I just had qt5-webengine update
Ammonium commented on 2026-05-25 16:49 (UTC)
For people that can't open this due to the Qt version mismatch, I have installed the flatpak version temporarily while this problem is being addressed

Update: I've compiled qt5-location using the AUR PKGBUILD and simply changing the package version parameter to 5.15.19. This quick-and-dirty workaround is not recommended as a long term solution because it mixes 5.15.18 and 5.15.19 components on a 5.15.19 package while compiling; however, Stremio launches again without complains. Just use this fix for the sake of testing and while qt5-location is updated in AUR by its maintainer. I've already flagged this package as out of date. Be sure to update qt5 group to 5.15.19 before compilation.
