I created amf-amdgpu for the newer releases of AMF, which only supports RDNA3 and up and uses the RADv stack (plus optional rocm opencl).

I spent the last couple days crafting a new package based on the 26.10 version of amf, for anyone that wants to use the new version with their GPU, here's the link to the git repository with the PKGBUILD.
https://github.com/Alderaeney/amf-amdgpu-pro-PKGBUILD
If anyone is interested in uploading and maintaining the package feel free to take the PKGBUILD and continue the work from there, I'm personally not fit to maintain a package since I'm not looking constantly at new releases nor I have time to spend on it for the majority of the year.
ernstp commented on 2026-03-12 10:14 (UTC)
I created a new package base with only amf 25.10 libraries: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/amf-amdgpu-pro-25.10
They dropped RDNA1 and RDNA2 support from 25.20+ unfortunately.
Need to add a new package base for new AMF 25.20+ also...

I want to say that, from what I can gather, this driver is still useful for graphics programmers. At least the Radeon GPU Analyzer (RGA) [2] tool only supports amdgpu-pro on Linux [1]. It might be worth maintaining it a little longer if anybody feels like it.
Ashark commented on 2026-01-27 15:08 (UTC)
@luftwaffle This Package Base (amdgpu-pro-installer) will not be updated. The amf-amdgpu-pro will stay on its version as it is now.
For newer versions of amf, the new amf package should be uploaded to the AUR.
luftwaffle commented on 2026-01-27 15:02 (UTC)
Any update on the prospective amf package? VAAPI doesn't work very well on my system, so this would be very useful
aliu commented on 2025-11-27 21:04 (UTC)
@Ashark Is the deletion request necessary? The name should be freed once amdgpu-pro-installer is updated to remove "amf-amdgpu-pro" from the pkgname array, and in any case the name amf should be free right now.
mesmer commented on 2025-11-27 20:52 (UTC)
@EnSER thx for clarifying it, i did not mean to say its dead, i mean that its not in the scope of this package as its created and refactoring it dont seems to make sense, so a new package called AMF is a better approach for now on

Reply to my comment, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/amf-amdgpu-pro#comment-1045680
It was my GPU hardware that was broken. Replacing the GPU with a Radeon 6800 worked.
Ashark commented on 2025-11-27 07:16 (UTC)
@EnSER I have submitted a deletion request for this amdgpu-pro-installer. So, the amf-amdgpu-pro name will be freed. However, possibly, such name will no longer be appropriate. The new name most likely will be just amf.

as hurricane said
the new AMD pro is very different the build structure and the refactor just dont make sense, and all the reasons for this package is the amdgpu-pro AMF and such, this package is now finally in end state, so i`ll stop to maintain it and ask for a removal of the package, if anyone want to maintain fell free to get, but i really dont see a reason without AMF there
i tried my best to keep it running for the last years even with the AMD just changing everything from time to time i hope that i helped anyone, good luck guys and see ya

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
updated to 6.4.4, from this version up it changed to 7.x the 7.x don't seem to have the proprietary driver in the jammy or noble(7.0.0 and 7.0.1), so it seems that the driver is already at mesa !!! it means that it will not receive any update on forward, i will wait just to make sure but it seems the 6.4.4 is the last pro driver :)

IF PROBLEM HAPPEN
this package is our try to put amdgpu in ARCH, but this could break or have problems as amd update and change their packages for ubuntu
if anything happens you can always download a older tag in https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/releases and get the PKGBUILD there, and use makepkg with that build while we update or try to fix :)
ALWAYS USE LINUX-FIRMWARE-GIT IF LATEST DRIVER FAIL BEFORE ISSUE SOME ERROR
